This blog is opinionated – I’ll warn you up front – if you don’t like it – don’t read it, or leave an equally opinionated comment at the end.
I don’t know about you, but I am utterly bored with the nonsense that those in ‘power’ trot out about e-cigs. These people are supposed to educated, be our advocates, and LISTEN to us – the folk that were clever or dumb enough to vote them into office.
But, as they say, power corrupts – as we all too often find out, and those in power have lots of well paid people whispering sweet nothings into their ears (they are called lobbyist), about all sorts of rubbish and agendas, and then they have their own agendas.
So – what’s the reason the government gives behind this ludicrous bill? See the bill link here:
http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S7635-2011
They state two reasons to ban e-cigs, (that are just unbelievably unregulated and are running rough shod over the American population, at least that is what they would have you think). First point was that antifreeze was found in an e-cig back in 2009 – they don’t mention that the levels were barely detectable, were well below any toxic level and that piece of research has been well and truly trashed.
Have any been found since?? Probably not as I’m sure we would all know about it.
They then point to the poor guy who blew out half his jaw when he modified his own e-cig, without knowing what he was doing.
That’s it – those are the reasons.
Now, call me a cynic – but no way is that enough to pass a bill banning them, when millions are now using them – and we all know how it starts – first NY, then New Hampshire, then Minnesota and before you know it or have time to wave an e-cig at them – blanket ban across the entire United States.
So why do I think this has snuck up?
1) The man responsible may have –allegedly – we don’t know – had sweet nothings whispered in his ears and he hasn’t bothered to do the research behind e-cigs, (we know his office don’t have a clue from some of the reports made by vapers who have phoned his office and spoken to his staff.)
2) Could the FDA be part of this? May sound a bit conspiratorial, but they got their marching orders in court a few years back, and rumour has it they are looking for other ways to ban e-cigs, through the back door is as good a way as any.
3) The guy couldn’t come up with a better idea and had to put something through the legislature?? - Ip – dip – e-cigs are it?? Maybe??
I feel like banging my head against a brick wall at the utter? – I don’t even know what to call it! – but e-cigs are mainstream now – everybody has heard of them – the technology is constantly improving, reputable companies self regulate – so why don’t the men and woman in power come and talk to us? Find out what we are doing, instead of Googling e-cigs and picking up a news article from 4 years ago!
Not only is it lazy, it’s rude and disrespectful to those of us that are looking towards a better future and who are being responsible and using our brains and common sense.

That’s our “government” for you… they don’t give a F*CK about the people that vote them in. I don’t care what their label is… Democrat, Republican, whatever… they’re all cut from the same cloth.
I don’t understand why you would want to ban e-cigs. My two reasons for keeping them are: 1. They are healthier for you then cigarettes. 2. Pollution. Ever notice how many cigarette butts are scattered all over the ground.
Hi Craig, thanks for answering, and we agree with you, there is no evidence the ban them. : )
