Hey guys,

I just was noticing that my tank was leaking liquid all over the sides of itself, so I took the cartridge out, detached the atomizer, and blew from the battery end, and a  few drops of liquid came out. I put in a completely new cartridge, with a different flavour, and it tastes like [expletive]. Is my atomizer broken? What causes this? It certainly is not a new one, by any means.

After you blew out the atty did you re prime it by sucking it without pressing the button.

I did not. Should I do this with a cart in it?

Yes. When you blow the atty through you remove the juice that is in the wick section and coil pot. Put the cart back on with the juice in. Suck on it without pressing the button. I normally do it so i can just taste the flavour. Then try vaping as normal. You should be able to taste the flavour now with maybe a hint of burnt flavour. Since it has already been burnt it may take a little while for the burnt flavour to completely disappear but it will eventually, or you may be lucky and it wont taste burnt atall. Beware though i warn you too much dry pulling can flood your atty which will mean you will have to blow it out and start again. Let me know how it goes.

That doesn't seem to be working.

What part isnt working?

Are you getting vapour?

Is there any hint of the flavour that is in the tank?

Is the atty crackling when the button is pressed or silent?

I'm getting the same amount of vapor I normally would, the flavor(titan RY4) tastes terrible, and I'd say if there IS a hint of it, its very minor. The atty is completely silent.

Try doing a couple more dry pulls and see if that helps. When an atty tastes burnt it does take a little while to go away. I have done this quite a few times when i emptied the tank and didnt realise. I just kept vaping whilst trying not to be completely put of by the taste and after a tank or so it was fine. Gets gradually better.

The flavor still hasn't improved, and the atomizer is leaking fluid everywhere, when I only did 3 dry puffs.

Umm then the only solution i can suggest is re wicking or changing atomizer. The burnt flavour seems to be stuck and will only be properly removed by re wicking. The leaking atomizer is probably due to the fluid flooding down the spike because the wick is burnt away. The wick when in good condition stops too much fluid getting through.

A great guide to rewicking can be found here.

It may not be for you. But if you have the time and the tools i suggest giving it a go.

I found the issue.

For some reason, my titan RY4 liquid now tastes like crap. I put Banana in and it tastes as good as ever, in the same cartridge the RY4 was in.Can liquid go bad? I just bought it like 3 days ago...

It has a long shelf life but I did notice some floors taste horrid I you chain vape it from the tank. Probably due to it getting so hot for so long it's kinda cooking the juice.

I very much doubt the liquid has gone bad.

Rtsjr is right about chain vaping a flavour through the tank tasting like crap after a while. Some of the gunk from the atomizer manages to get up into the tank and taint the juice. It makes it look alot darker.

Did it taste alright atall before going bad or was it bad straight away?

I had the same thing occur when I bought my LR Tank Atty, No matter what I did it every flavor tasted burnt and nasty, I did everything listed in this thread, and others, but still had no luck. I ended up giving the atty a coke cola bath, I let the atty soak fully submerged over night in a cup of coke cola and then I rinsed the atty with water very well and let the atty dry for about 12 hours.I filled a Tank with Titan tabacco and the taste was awesome and the Throat hit was amazing. I saw this on Utube and it worked for me. You have nothing to lose as this does not harm the atty to do this once, in my case I must have had some burnt fluid on the wicking material that would not blow out and the coke dissolved it. Tastes awesome now Good Luck !

For anyone trying that, make sure you rinse it really good after the coke . . . there's a lot of sugar and caramel coloring in there that, if left behind in the atty, will kill it in short order

That's why I always recommend NOT giving your atty a coke bath regularly. Blowing it out keeps it running smooth until vapor drops off then do what you like to clean as by then the warranty is probably up. I do I dry burn after about 3-4 weeks (after vapor tails off to an undesirable level) then wash through with water thoroughly (shaking vigorously to remove all the crusty chips tha burnt off and let dry completely.

Heck, I've gotten lazy and I don't even clean mine anymore.  I just do blow-outs and when the atty stops performing well I bin it.  I don't often run into problems with my Tank attys, though, so by the time performance drops off I've easily gotten my money's worth out of them Wink  If I were still using them most of the time, then I'd probably put a little more effort into them, but my Tanks have become only an occasional thing.  I still love them, but have found I prefer some other gear for my general daily vaping

Same here I have never really gone to great lenghts to clean an atty. Just blow it out and reprime has worked great so far. I correct myself the one thing I do is pop the spike off and rewick and dry burn but that is after a good while of using it.

Ya I think we have it down pretty well. We have to teach others how to maximize the life of their gear.

Was this the first time you had tried the new bottle of RY4?  If you're not already aware, the Titan/Tornado fluid is being changed to a new manufacturer (TW had no choice), so I am wondering if you got a bottle of the new RY4.  I'm very interested since RY4 is my favorite and I don't want to make a new order if the new fluid has a bad taste.
