Hey guys,

So I'm a little upset with the odyssey and I would ask for a refund but overall the value is good except for the battery.  I honestly think the power switch at the bottom is by far the most idiotic idea in vaping history.  I've had problems with vaping cause sometimes it get's stuck and won't work.  The worse problem I had was last night which this happened a few times but not as bad.  I was sitting down and suddenly felt my pants get really really boiling hot to the point I was jumping up.  I realized the odyssey was on and it began to burn me.  I could hardly pull it out because of how hot the whole device got.  When I did, it took forever to cool it off.  I dissembled it for safety cautions.  I wish I was an idiot but I'm not.  I make sure my power is always shut off before I put in my pocket.  Apparently the power switch is not hard enough and moves to the on position.  This is what caused it to turn on.  I miss the old batteries that have flat bottoms and can easily be put in a standing position.  The button on the side makes it easier to use.

Seriously, this was an idiotic design.  When I saw the demo and previews I never realized the power switch was on the bottom.  I'm hoping you guys have a change of heart and design one with the button on the side.  Also, what happened to the cut off time of 15 seconds?  This sucker keeps on going.

I love you guys, but right now we're in bad standing.  I can't see eye to eye with this product and it's a shame.  For the record, I will not review this product outside the TW forums because I respect you and don't have anything nice to say about it besides the DCT.

Question: If you do come up with a new battery design, can we trade our old one for the new?

I tend to disagree, at least with the button placement, idiotic for you perfect for me.
In my opinion the button on the bottom is the perfect place, for a start it’s always at the bottom so you don’t have to look for it,
I hate side buttons.
But that’s my opinion.

Sorry you aren't getting on with your Oddysey, that's a bit of a bummer for you Sad

The battery life issue you speak about is fair enough as this is a major gripe for a few people; the battery life doesn't suit enough people, people who don't want to take a set of batteries out with them. Rather a lot of us expected a better battery life than it ultimately has.

There are a hell of a lot of SD users who all use a button on the bottom and a lot of these users have been happily vaping an SD for four years this way, no power locking switch in sight. Some people like the button on the bottom as a personal preference (like Cy). But it's what you get used to. I'm so used to using an SD myself that having a button on the side is alien. It takes me a while to readjust when using a side button device. It's a bit like complaining that the side button is at the bottom when you want it at the top...  Smiley.

If the locking switch is moving to 'on' whilst in your pocket, maybe don't put it in your pocket?! I don't think the designers of any ecig devices intend for their products to be carried in pockets, although they obviously put features such as locking switches and caps there because they recognise that some people do stick them in their pockets. But they're not infallible... I stick my devices in my jeans pocket and yes I set it off by sitting on it!!! We all probably know the 'ouch factor' from an accidentally activated atty  Grin Angry Grin. I know we shouldn't do it... we do it...

I don't think the standing the device on its' end is something you could call a design fault either, because not everyone wants to stand it on its' end. Some people do.... people used to make stands for all their e-cigs and produly post pictures of them on the forum. I couldn't be arsed with all that, mine roll around on their sides.

I do see where you're coming from but have to say that a side button and a battery that would make it stand up would not have me running out to buy one. That really proves how different our criteria in a device is, not how right one opinion is against anothers... you're probably wondering how on earth I get on with a side button as much as I wonder why you dislike the bottom one so much!!! Cheesy

So what are you going to do with your Odyssey ankido? Are you selling it, carrying on using it or putting it in your e-cig drawer?!

Sad you don't like the odyssey. It's really sharp, built to last and gives a great vape. Everything you don't like about it is preference and I see how how don't get on with it. All preferences aside, it's a great device. I wish I could make you an offer but I have nothing at the moment. Someone will take it off your hands. Smiley

I have a screwdriver, which is the early fore runner of the odyssey, I believe, and I like the button on the bottom, but I also found that putting it in my pocket made it fire up from time to time.  My solution was to gather up some square shape vitamin pots, remove the lids, fill them with cotton wool and then place some gaffer tape over the hole, cut a cross in that, and then I sit my screwdriver upright into that, and presto, my problem was solved, I always know where my SD is when I'm not actually using it and it doesn't fire up inadvertantly.........   I also bought a neoprene golf ball holder that has a belt clip from a pound shop, cut it, stitched it and it now snugly holds my SD when I'm out and about  Wink I just transfer my holder from trouser pocket to trouser pocket as and when I need to, and again, I always know where my SD is, and that it is safe!!!!! Tongue    I may not be able to mod electronically, but I like to think latterally about things and come up with a solution that, for me, (and for my neice now Roll Eyes ) is both practical and cheap!!!  Don't give up so easilly ankido, think of ways round your problems instead!!!!!
                                                                         kind regards,
                                                                                maryon

If it stood on its end and had a side battery we would call it a Tornado. The bottom button takes a little bit to get used to but if you go in to it (and this counts for about anything) with an open mind and give it a fair shot you might just find that you like the bottom button better. Personally I could care less where the button is so long as I can activate it to burn off huge clouds of my State Express 555

I did say the overall value is great but I wasn't talking about the battery life.  I believe the battery life is more than enough for me.  Right now I'm using a Tornado EGo c 1000mAh manual battery with the odyssey DCT.  You're right it is preference, but I could care less about fashion.  The damn thing is build very nice.  Maybe a flat button would be better?  I don't know, it always jams on me when I use it and after that incident with the heating up in my pocket kinda scares me now.  By the way, I don't carry male purse.   Tongue  The device does hit like a champ though.  I guess it's out of my hands.  Daniel, don't worry about it.  There's nothing you can do for me.  I had a $40 discount on it, I can't complain.  I still love you guys.   Kiss

I do hope they come out with an alternative.   Grin

If the button truly is the bproblem than Daniel can surely help. Give him a ring and maybe he will have a new button or lower half sent out for you. Worth a shot right. I'd be a bit nervouse also if it melted my leg.  Shocked

I also thought the bottom button would be a bit off to vape with, but I actually love it after 2 weeks of use. I find the battery life to be very good as well, lasts me all day. Just make sure the button is in the locked position before putting it in your pocket!
