Hey all!

First post...woohoo!  Total noob to the vaping scene (picked up a Skycig kit a fortnight ago, ditched it for a DCT + Tornado-C battery last week).

Anyhoo, I'm having a little problem with the DCT taking in too much fluid.  It was ok when I first got it, if anything it wasn't drawing enough.  Sorted itself out after day one and was vaping like a champ.  Refilled it last night (2/3 full) and found that I've gone through a whole tank today?!  The problem is that there's too much fluid coming into the atty, which ends up collecting above the rubber seal (just below the drip tip), which I keep cleaning out with a bit of tissue...had fluid in my mouth a couple of times today, yuck!

Any ideas what could be causing this?  I picked up a spare atty when I ordered, so I could just swap it out and see if it makes a difference, but I feel that would be a waste of the original atty (since it's probably still got a lot of life left in it).

I've even tried removing the rubber seal and replaced it with the rubber 'cap' that came with the spare atty...was a tight fit, but it's still collecting fluid, even after just 4 or 5 puffs.

I know we're probably not supposed to mention competitors, but I'm using fluid from eƞjuice (50/50 PG/VG) if that makes any difference?

Cheers guys!

I have noticed these dual coils really drain the life from batteries.

Most of the time im plugged in with a passthrough.  I wonder if you battery is going flat and as it does so the juice isnt been vaporized.

I am using a booster, made the hole 5mm on on atty and have had no flooding issues.  I now only fill 3/4 full, as you did, as I found trying to fill to the brim didnt give great performance.

Sorry I cant be of more help.

Hey Neuro!

Hmm, battery is less than a week old and has only been cycled 3 times.  It's flooding even when the battery is at full capacity.  I'm using it now, but I'm taking very weak, but longer drags just to try and prevent 'fluid mouth'! ;-)

Just out of interest, what exactly does a booster do?  Is it just a variable voltage wotnot?  Seems a bit pricey if it is...

Hi riggs !

yes the booster gives the ability to vary the voltage.  I was lucky and got it in the yo-yo test promotion for £29 Smiley.

I think adjusting how you draw may help, keep us updated if this does the trick.

If you watch the video where Jason show the DCT you can see he draws long and slow.

EDIT:

you could also try pushing the button for a second or 2 before you start to draw....

Yeah, could just be down to the way I'm using it tbh, although I don't think I'm drawing on it any harder..?  Meh

I have actually started holding the button, then drawing, and releasing a few seconds after I finish.  My thinking it that it'll burn off the excess.

Thanks for the advice btw ;-)

I'll be around for a while I reckon.  Like I said, I'm new to vaping, but loving it so far.   Even gone as far as ordering some PG/VG fluids along with some nicotine PG.  Just need to pick up some flavours...got an interesting combo in mind, hopefully it'll work and not taste like poo!

Pressing the button a second or two before you start puffing is like preheating an oven. I actually only press it a half second before I go at it. I use a booster though. Preheat is good Wink

I do everything with my iPhone. My post's are straight to the point. Main vape = eGo-C pass + Booster. Mixing since day 1. ADHD & OCD. Can I help you? What was that...

I also press the button slightly before I inhale but release immediately after I stop inhaling.
I suggest you don’t hold the button in when you stop inhaling; holding the button in won’t burn off excess rather it will create vapour that is not being inhaled causing condensation to pool at the top of the carto.

Good point cyborg.

It started doing it again, so I ditched the atty and stuck in the replacement one. Totally fine now.  In fact, it tastes better and seems to be producing a lot more vapour compared to the original.
