Hi all, I've recently got a VVV and am using a 6ml DCT on it, which to be honest, isn't working so well. I primed it, popped in the little plastic insert and then filled the tank, and it seems to take in liquids from the tank but I get a lot of mouth leakage, liquids coming up with the vapour. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

Hiya Gaz,

I have always found with dual coils that I get a lot of condensation around the top,
whether they are in a tank or not. There really isnt an awful lot you can do if is condensation
apart from remove the drip tip and wipe around the inside of the DC with a tissue.

If it's not condensation and its the actual juice going into your mouth, then have you tried
giving the carto a gentle blow from the drip tip end before you attach it to the battery?
This can sometimes help.

If neither of those suggestions work, I'm sure someone else will be along with a few ideas
very soon Smiley

Also, one other thing, what voltage are you vaping at? I find with variable voltage, if you
up the power too much it will make the dual coil 'spit' a lot as you are vaping. If this is happening
you could try turning it down a notch Wink

Thanks Julie, I think I may have found the issue to be honest. Essentially it looks like the little plastic insert that was meant to be between the tip and the wadding was causing my issues. Taking it off meant no more leakage on drawing on it. Not sure exactly what this ring is meant to do really.

Glad you sorted it out, I was never sure what the little ring was for either.
Maybe to stop flooding issues? who knows, but they cant be mega important,
I have been happily vaping away on mine for weeks, and didn't realise that I
had forgotten to put mine back in! It hasn't caused me any problems though Smiley

i also do not use the ring seems to me that it is harder to draw through that little hole which depending on juice can make the juice pull up quicker and into ur mouth without it is much better  i think there were  made to stop the juice wadding drying out anyway just my 2 cents Tongue

Well this is frustrating. Without the plastic insert I seem to get quite extreme flooding, with the insert I get juice in my mouth. I may have to just go back to dripping into a standard cartomiser without these tanks and the issues around them.
Could it be a juice issue? I make my own juice using 75% pg and 25% vg, could this be too thin for these dcts?

I wouldnt have thought it was the juice, I use my own mixes (roughly the same spec as what you mix)  in the DCT's, along with some titan
premixes, and I dont get that problem.

To be honest I havent had any problems with my DCT's, the only thing I found is that sometimes after I have filled
it up, if I dont give it a gentle blow through I get  juice in my mouth, but this last DC that I'm using has been fine
even without the blow through.

I'm not sure what else to suggest Gaz Sad Dont give up on it just yet though. Is it your first dual coil in there, or have you been using
it for a while, and you've used a couple of carto's?
The reason I ask is I wonder if it may be a problem with just that one carto?

just my 2p worth, do you not think you are drawing on it too hard? i used to have the same problem with the dct aswell, every cart/tank has a different way of getting a good drag from it,it just takes time sometimes to train yourself to draw the right way, like Jeff says if your cheeks are sucked in like your sucking on a McFlurry then your sucking too hard, try gently blowing out the juice a wee bit into a tissue, then put your finger over the hole at the battery end and suck quite hard until it just starts to gurgle, whack it back on the battery and you should be ready to go,draw gently.
Good luck  Smiley

Well I'm trying every which way to be honest, softly drawing, up to mcflurry strength, to note that is a great example. This is the first time I'm trying these DCTs so I'm not giving up quite yet.
Will try a different cartomiser in it tonight, would you guys give me an idea of the method of preparation you use, as maybe I got it wrong for this one.

All I do is drip around 30 to 40 drops of juice into the top of the carto
while holding it at an angle. (30 to 40 drops is assuming that your bottle
has the small rubber type dropper on it, otherwise, only around 20 drops)
Make sure the filler looks wet, but not flooded.
Make sure you don't drip any juice into the centre hole, or it will just come straight
out of the bottom. Pop the rubber ring (seal) in if you are using it.

I then push the cart up into the tank, leaving the top cover off the tank, fill the tank
by pouring the liquid straight down the outside of the carto, leaving a gap at the top
of the tank..
Push the top tank cover on, pop the drip tip on and give it a gentle blow through,
connect to the battery.

Not sure if this is the right way, but its the way I have always done it.

For filling, I always take the drip tip off, remove the top tank cover, and fill like that.

well i do put two or three drops down the centre hole purposely then quickly turn onto its side for a few minutes it helps the the stuff that wraps around the coils to soak up the juice that way if not primed right it will not dry burn Tongue soz for jumping on ur post again ck   hope u can get this problem sorted gaz  also like dan said try let the juice vapourize first before dragging power up  a couple of seconds then draw  Grin see if that helps  Wink

I'm beginning to think this one was a dud. Just replaced it with one of the spares, filled it properly by taking off the top of the tank rather than tilting it and dripping it through the middle hole (they REALLY need to tell people the top comes off the tanks! Cheesy) and right now, I'm getting no leaks, no problems, just a clean great vape like I'm used to.

I should try things out more before posting, but least I learned something today! Thanks all!

To me it sounds like that particular replacement cartomiser needed a bit more voltage to get good performance. If I use a dct with my torpedo if the tank is spewing liquid I put the voltage up a bit and it works better. Must be a quirk of that cartomiser and unless you have a variable voltage device there is not a lot you can do about it except maybe only use it when your battery is fully charged.

Yeah, I'm using a VVV set to 4v.

Out of sheer unadulterated curiosity while I have you guys still interested, I've vaped until the cartomiser top looks dry, it doesn't LOOK as though there's any bubbles coming through the hole into the cartomiser, so I'm worried I might burn it out dry if the tank isn't supplying liquid. The tank is now pretty much full to the brim, are bubbles a good indicator?

Do you know something, I have never noticed bubbles coming out of the hole in the DCT,
but I'm sure Ive read that others do see them?

To be honest I just fill mine and keep vaping till the tank is empty and then top it back up,
I'm only on my 3rd carto since I bought the DCT, so a couple of months I think, one gave out on me after
around 4 weeks. I had to throw one because I had a real yukky flavour in there and I just couldnt stand
the taste, and my third one I'm still using.

Heh, maybe thats why my first carto on these DCTs was faulty, the bubbles were showing a dramatic amount of fluid moving to the coils.

Now I'm looking for it as an indicator of quality. I'll play it by ear anyway on the whole refilling thing, I'm sure it'll be okay, I am just paranoid as I always am usually when trying a new product from TW.

I want to know everything about it. Cheesy

lol, well it doesnt hurt to find out everything you can about whatever you're using.
Normally though different people do things in different ways. So my way may seem
totally ridiculous to some others.

You'll find your own way of using the DCT's eventually. I had already used the dual coils
last year when they first came out, so I knew more or less what to expect with the DCT.
I have used a different type of tank with a bottom coil... so I found it quite easy switching to
the DCT.

One thing I have noticed with popping the top of the tank off for refilling, is that when you push the
top back on, obviously it pushes the juice into the atty... maybe this is why mine doesnt get dry hits
or Ive never got the burnt taste with it?

its the best way to make sure its properly primed, works well for me too.

I have also never noticed bubbles coming out of the hole but the atomiser still seems to get replenished so I wouldn't worry about it unless your getting burnt draws. If you do just drip a few drops on the top of the wadding.

I had one carto that I had to draw a few times on the drip tip to draw a little liquid through every few days but that was it. IF you do this without pressing the power button you should see a few bubbles. Works well.

I also push the top on when getting a new carto as it does push the liquid into the filler well.

Coincidently I got a new carto out 2 days ago and its just not hitting right think it needs a voltage boost. Cant wait on the twist. Hurry up joyetech lol

well,i had to be different i suppose,i always see the bubbles,i just go with the thought that atleast its sucking up the juice.
