Thinking about it. Dry burning the coil with the wick in place actually makes a lot of sense. Its natural to think the wick material will get burnt if not kept wet  Shocked  But that's not what actually happens
Its the juice that burns and sticks to both the wick and the coil (Naughty juice  Angry)
The wick itself is pretty much flame proof,  I know as I've stuck a number of them straight in the flame on my gas cooker and they can get white hot without doing any harm  Cheesy

So by dry burning both the coil and wick together your actually burning off all the old overheated juice deposits. Hence the burnt smell and taste.
The advantage with the eGo-c atty is .... It has no mesh reservoir to hold on to those impurities and burnt off deposits, so the bad taste vapes away within a couple of puffs  Wink   Cheesy   Cool

Simples  Cheesy  Wink

I gotta ask.
Xmas day is that 25 december?
Yes, Christmas Day is on December 25th.

To all others;
You folks in the UK and nearby TW-UK have got it good being able to get one of these, no eGo-Cs in the TW- U.S. marketplace yet.
Doing the British Pounds Sterling to US Dollars conversion the eGo-C selling for @ £69.99 would be priced @ @ $110 USD [ouch!].
At that price it's easy for me to see the standard Tornado still having a home with many wanting something they can afford, 'twas all I could afford when I'd first started.
That's not to say the new eGo-C isn't worth the price, on the contrary it seems to be the best of the best TW has to offer from what I've seen via video and reviews so far, I'd love to have one.
I'd honestly still be on the analogues if not for the lower-priced Wicked Tornado Compact kit costing me just under the cost of a carton of cigs [@ $40 for generic carton at the time I began vaping].
Start-up costs were of a major concern for me, as they most likely are for many these days, as they were when I began researching e-cigs as an alternative, that and I'd read many reviews and watched dozens of videos before I ended up going TW and I've never regretted it.
Having an alternative to burning leaves, one that costs about the same or less than the smoking-leaves products was a big pull for me, the standard Tornado I got started on is still in use to this day.
Having read the good, the bad, the ugly, and of course the praises of the tank systems, I'd put off getting one until the bugs got worked out more, as my Wicked Tornado 510 and multiple Screwdrivers in 901 & 510 are still serving me well for the time being.
I am, of course, still envious!!!

Hi Dragon...

Great post... must admit that I did very little research before ordering my Tornado Tank from Wicked....

Joined the forum first and the advice and replies I received from my question seemed good....so I took the gamble and have never looked back....being a heavy user of the old habit I broke even from my initial purchases quite quickly.....even with all my recent spending on Wicked products...attys, jiuce and now an ego-C I am still over £500 up....even with my total spend at £700.... Which seems like an obscene amount.......

It is easy to get carried away with all those lovely products Wicked sell...also the must have spares that help fend off the fear of ever running out of something essential for Vaping ....the main reason for "investing" in the C is I feel that my overall Vaping costs will come down in the long run with the new attys (fingers crossed)...

To be honest I was more than happy with my Tornado Tank and would have happily stuck with that......but the must have syndrome kicked in....and I am happy it did. The great thing is that I don't feel it's a complete waste having  bought an complete kit as everything is interchangeable with my existing Tornado kit.....just ended up with a spare charger...which isn't a bad thing...

There are of course other benefits which I am unable to mention... As you and all are aware..

Cheers

Tim

Bus with poor signal so checking will take me forever??  Cheers again in advance the info is greatly appreciated

Hi Hiigy

I am a heavy vaper....I mean it's always in my hand...my Torndao batteries, even the oldest ones (had them for about 3 months)last a good 5 to 6  hours....if I am out for the day I take 2 with me....the only time I was let down was when I left home at 5am and only got back around 6pm....the only reason was that I had forgotten to charge the spare, so went out with a flat battery.....that will never happen again :-)

Not sure what the actual useful  life of the battery is..... I have 5 which I rotate on a daily basis.....2 standard and 3 passthroughs....ops...just rememberd that with my new ego-c I now have 7 batteries in total....this could be getting a bit out of hand :-)

I put on a fully charged battery at 5pm each night and use it till i go to bed around midnight. Then i use it the next day from 8 till 5. Today the LED turned blue for the 1st time so it had <50% charge. Granted i do not use it all the time but i use it a lot and its never run flat.

Hi Tim, and thanks for the kind words.
It is very easy to get carried away with such great products.
If I had the cash flow I'd invest in the first run of TW eGo-C as soon as they hit the U.S. store.

Oh well, I'm still Direct Dripping with my SDMKII and original Wicked Tornado, I don't think you can DD with the new Tank or eGo-C.
My black Wicked Tornado has seen so much use that the black rubberized finish began to flake off, so I removed it all and gave it a brushed finish...

That's a testimony to quality right there, that any device that will last past the finish applied is good stuff and quality made!
Sure I had some issues when I first started, defective battery and some atomizers with rather short lifespans, but overall this has not been the case.
I have atomizers that are months old and still firing, giving off lots of vapor, despite a few that only lasted a week or so those are not the "norm" thankfully.
All in all I've not been disappointed by Totally Wicked products, even the Titan Tobacco e-liquid has redeemed its' original creamy, buttery, nutty flavor and I'm back to using it.

P.S.:
Here's what my first-ever e-cig looked like when I got it, the Wicked Tornado Compact Kit...

Pretty amazing that over a year later it's still working, which is one reason among many that I continue to recommend TW product to this day!

Dragon...

Just shows how good this kit is.... I have had a couple of attys that have gone bad....and others that seem to just go on and on....

That's a nice finish under the old black....

To be honest I have been a bit extravagant with buying TW stuff.....but am still saving money having changed to Vaping....only thing left on my list would be the C Low Resistance attys but I am waiting for some reviews....the standard attys that came with the kit appear to be good from the reviews so far and I am more than happy with them at the moment....one of the main reasons for going with the C is to try and reduce the overall Vaping costs, if the LR's have a shorter life span I probably will not bother with them....the only other thing would be megga attys if/when they become availabe.......so fingers crossed this will be a good step towards saving some cash.

My current saving should rocket over the next few months as I am guessing I have enough juice etc to last a good 4 months....

Cheers

Tim:

Yeah, the material seems to be stainless steel, found underneath the black rubber coating on my old-faithful Tornado.
Once it began to flake off I used some of the wifes' non-acetone fingernail polish remover to soften up the black rubber coating a bit more, then scraped it off with the side of a Popsicle stick.
Once all the coating was removed I wiped the metal off with a paper towel dampened with water, then hand-rubbed a green Scotch-Brite pad around the circumference to give it that brushed industrial look.
I could have put a high polish on the metal, tried that first but seeing how easily that attracted fingerprints I'd opted instead for the hand-brushed finish and I'm actually quite pleased with the overall results.

I hear you, Tim, about the heavy vaping and still saving money over the old rags I used to buy.
I'm sure once I do get a Tank-style system I'd go through even more e-juice than I am now, no doubt.
I've been Direct Dripping for more than a year now, usually adding a small percentage of Vegetable Glycerin to pre-mixed juice as it aids in vapor and helps prevent leaking.
I'll fill a 3ml dropper bottle with my at-the-moment blend, usually drip 3 drops onto my 510 or 901 LR atomizer and get a good 10 or so full lungfuls of vapor before having to re-wet.
I'd typically get about 10 drags off a coffin-nail too, so I keep the nic levels up high enough to be satisfying after a good 10x pulls of the Tornado or Screwdrivers with Low resistance atties attached, pretty much equal to how I'd smoke a cig.
I was elated when TW listed some LR 901s last year, only to see them disappear when I had the cash to buy some and then to see that they'd been improperly marked as being LRs and in fact weren't LRs at all.
That was one of the few times I'd outsourced, or bought elsewhere, got a couple of multi-packs of Saibo LR 901s rated @ 1.7 ohms and those worked great with my SD 901s but I still like the LR 510s I got from TW much better.
If I could afford a VV device or a Booster I'd have gone that route, but instead I've been using nothing but LRs to get warmer, thicker vapor and so far that's been serving me well.

The major rub is that I've found Direct-Dripping & driving don't mix!
Trying to squeeze out 3 drops into my drip-tip whilst holding the steering wheel in the right direction is tricky at best, dangerous at worst as I veer over the center line dividers to re-wet my atomizers.
Having a Tank system would certainly do away with the need to drip, having a reliable system that doesn't leak juice would be even better, I don't like the old cart & Fluval dealies despite having boxes full of empty carts.
For driving I'd love to have one of the new eGo-C units, but I'd also be much more likely to do more vaping just sitting around the house and going through a ton more e-juice doing so.

Keep the post updates coming, good or bad I want to hear all about the new eGo-C system, especially updates on how the atties perform or if the tanks leak/ don’t leak.
I do see the UK Site lists both standard and LR atomizers and that's reassuring; even though I have a feeling the eGo-C standard will probably outperform most 510 standards by a long shot.
I use a multi-meter on all of my atomizers as soon as I get them, found on average the standard 510 and 901s can go over 3 Ohms and for me at least that's just way too cold for the vapor production I like.
I prefer the LRs for the warmth they produce too, not just the added vapor, it's more like the act of smoking to me and adding a bit of VG to a runny juice helps thicken the vapor enough that it closely emulates the act of smoking.
I’ve found that on the 3.x volt devices an atomizer between 1.7 ohms and no more than 2.5 Ohms resistance is pretty ideal, anything colder than 2.5 and I’m not feeling it.

Dragon...

Very informative posting...guess my black kit is going to end up matt silver when it starts to look a little worn...that is if it last as long as yours has.

I have to agree with the driving issue....don't have a problem when using a megga tank as they have always lasted long enough for any trip or at least until I have to pull over for a break....before I was using the Meggas I did try and change the standard tank whilst driving but gave up.....for the sake of the other motorists around me and passenger that was quite concerned about what I was trying to do :-)

Must get back to the ego-C....as this thread is about that.....ops....sorry

The only issue I am having is just down to tank size, I am used to Meggas...and therefore am re-filling more often, it seems like I am constantly changing tanks..I have read somewhere that maybe the C does use jiuce a bit quicker than the T.....not sure about this.    Could be that I love it so much I am Vaping more....

Would like to try the LR....but waiting for someone to review them...want to find out about life span etc....the other thing is that I am not keen on the vape being too warm, which is odd as the old habit was ?

My main "want" now is a megga tank and come for the C....now that would be excellent..

As for how my C is behaving, very early days...it's only the start of day 3 but still Vaping as good as day 1....and still loving it
