Trying to ignore the tingle of excitement I always feel when receiving a parcel from Totally Wicked, I tore off the packaging and spread the new eGo-C out on the table in front of me. I had never used the Tank system before, so wanted to be confident about assembling it correctly before starting out. I’d watched the pre-release videos which didn’t give a lot of detail, but even if I’d never seen a Personal Vapouriser before, it would not have mattered, because it is very easy to assemble.
Indeed, nothing could be simpler, although the packaging on the little atomiser is extremely robust and I had to use scissors to penetrate the plastic bubble. So for the girls, even if you carry a spare strip of atties in your handbag, you won’t find them loose at the bottom several years later covered in dust and lipstick when you empty out the handbag... In other words, although they’re very small, you won’t lose them easily.
Holding the cone-shaped piece upside-down, i.e. with the narrow part at the bottom, the little atty drops neatly into place. Then the metal band which secures the atty in place screws on and it’s ready to attach to the battery.
The Tanks provided with the eGo-C were tobacco flavoured, and since I no longer care for the taste of tobacco, I attached a new tank filled with one of my own favourite mixes, so that I could compare the vape to the flavour I’m used to getting from mega dual coil cartomisers, clearomisers and smokeymisers. This is a raspberry mix, 18mg  50/50 PG/AG.
So, with the tank, cone, atty and connector of the top half assembled and ready to go, I attached it to the battery.
It’s a sleek device; whilst it doesn’t differ much in appearance from a standard Tornado Tank, the extra 5mm of the chrome “atty holder” gives just a little more weight... barely noticeable but enough to make it feel very solid and very well-balanced in your hand.
Now for the important part.... how does it perform?
OK here’s where I blush
Nothing happened. I took it apart, re-assembled it. 3 times. Then the penny dropped......I’ve become accustomed to barely tightening the atty on the battery. The eGo-C needs to be screwed on tight; hand-tight, not finger-tight.
In fact the Joyetech logos match up with the button when it’s nice and snug...... quite a bonus for the slightly OCD amongst us !
The draw is smooth, with enough resistance to feel the vapour as you take it into your mouth, but not so much that you have to pull rather than draw. On the inhale there’s a good throat hit (as I like my mix). A good strong stream of vapour on the exhale and the flavour is richer and sharper than in a mega dual coil carto ( bear in mind that this is intended to be a sharp and juicy raspberry mix, not sweet);   cooler than the clearo which always seems too warm for me even with a drip-tip;   and this tank gives me a richer flavour than the dual coils.
Maybe that’s down to the Tank system which I haven’t experienced before. I would still enjoy the other vapes but this is definitely a different experience in the taste department. Which means all the more choice for the daily vape and I’m all for choice. Having said that, I can’t put this eGo-C down.
I’ve now run a number of different fruity-flavoured juices through the same atty with just a blow-through in between, and it has picked up the new flavour cleanly. I wouldn’t recommend changing from a “heavy” flavour like chocolate to a lighter one, but it certainly has no problem the other way around.
I didn’t notice any break-in time needed for the atty, it seemed to vape like a champ right from the first puffs. One thing I will say though, if you are chain-vaping, it’s wise to rotate the eGo-C with another device ( I use a passthrough at the computer ) because the atty gets very hot if you don’t take the device out of your mouth now and again.
There was a day of severe testing after a week of using this as my all-day, every-day vape. I had to stand outdoors for eight hours in extreme weather of gales and torrential downpour. The industrial waterproof jacket I was wearing got soaked right through and there was no way to keep the device dry as I vaped in the pouring rain and put it in a wet pocket when not using it. The 5 press button lock was invaluable here and I don’t believe my new eGo-C could have been any more wet if I’d dropped it in the bath.
Amazingly it didn’t let me down. When I got home, the first thing I did was dry off all the individual parts, refill and vape on. In the bath. After an hour my charge ran out...it has been lasting me for seven to ten hours depending on how often I can be persuaded to let it out of my hand.
Sadly, the atty stopped performing adequately at this point, so I swapped it out for a new one and with hot water,  rinsed and dried the first one. The following day this first atty was put back on to test it and I’m still using it five days later. It’s just beginning to feel a little tired after two weeks and heavy-duty use. I don’t yet know if this is because of the abuse it suffered, or whether this is an expected life-span.
If they all perform as well as this I shall not go back to standard atties in the future except to enjoy an occasional change, and I’m definitely converted to tank use.
The only disappointment I’ve had with this device is that the colour-change LED which signifies that the battery is getting low is apparently not fitted to mine; the light stays the same colour throughout, so it quits just like any other Tornado battery. I have to assume that that’s just unlucky. All the other bells and whistles work just fine.
To sum up, my personal assessment of the eGo-C is that it’s a good advance in the design of both the Tornado batteries and the atomisers; an excellent quality device and I’m looking forward to seeing mega and passthrough versions of these batteries with the same refinements, for even longer run-time.
As I’ve only had two weeks to assess, I’ll post updates, but I wanted to get this review out on the forum before the eGo-C hits the shelves at TW in about a week’s time.
Good vaping, Wicked people.

I cant wait to get one. I was going to get another type of tank system in which you can completely rebuild it and the coils are already wrapped around a wick and comes with different resistance coils. plus you can get extra wicking and mesh for the spike.  and change it from a tank to a regular atty to drip. But decided not to because this system cost over 150USD. Its made and shipped from the U.K. so with the exchange its just to much at this time. But I wish joyeteck would do this. Maybe I will bring it to Jason attention and he may stock it. But the ego-c will be the way to go for now and like I said cant wait. I love the clearos and ce3's alot more than the tank because of the fact that they start to taste nasty after a while but refilling them on the go is a pain and you have to have a syringe with you.

The EGO-C has mega batteries and passthrough version of both low and mega  Grin
Just take a look on their page. I have mailed them asking for mega size atties, no answers yet though...
And I agree, the best kit I have tried so far  Cheesy (review on its way)

Where did my manners go, anyone seen them ?  Grin

Sorry Elaine, completly forgot to tell you that you have made a great review  Grin
Really enjoyed reading it.

I am a bit confused though.
I think it was Kirsty who told me to email my review to both Alex (Alexandria) and Kirsty.
They did not say anything about publishing it here on the hardware reviews threads...
So I just emailed it some days agoo.
Anyone knows what I should do  Huh

**Update**
The first atty died today. sob.
Exactly 14 days old and lived through some severe abuse by water entering the device whilst in use, so not a true indication of  average lifespan, but I'll see how the second atty compares and post back with an update again.
It simply expired. There was a slight reduction in vapour production for two days prior, but not enough to pronounce it dead, just "tired". Then today... nothing. An ex-atty. What a lovely way to go, no lingering on getting weaker and weaker... just...gone. What a lovely way to go.  I prefer that, it saves me going through the angst of whether to chuck one out or not.

As Spike Milligan famously said for his epitaph   " I told you I was poorly "

@ Tigger, no date announced but "middle of December" was mentioned  Cool

Any idea when this is coming out? I'm getting itchy fingers, and looking at a variable voltage battery for my t-tank or get into direct dripping

Thank you for the hug, Kenneth  Cheesy
I'm hoping very much that the atties will be available as soon as the eGo-C hits the shelves because I'll need consoling if I can't use it when the other atty dies. It's hardly ever out of my hand except when it gets hot and I have to put it down for a couple of minutes to cool down!. Thank heavens for the passthrough as a back-up.
The vape is so smooth and all my flavours are great so far....and not a single leak.

Ditto. I was wondering if the atty was compatible with the tornado tank at all? That way I can just replace my atty and keep costs down?

I don't think you'll need to panic yet Kenneth, nobody's reported an atty pack in yet... except me and I think I murdered it, it wasn't a natural death....
they seem to be holding up really well, maybe they will have a lifespan which compares very favourably to the current standard atty, at a fraction of the price  Cool

Sorry to hear about the additional 5 days it will take for you to get yours....

If it makes you feel any better work it out this way....

5 days = 120 hours = 7,200 minutes, which is only 432,000 seconds...

Thinking about it... I am not sure that would make you feel any better.... but on a brighter note.... thinking that I would have mine 5 days before you makes me feel better..

Sorry.... but this vaping obsession can turn ordinary nice people into monsters !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
