Hi all, I'm trying out these new CE4 tankomisers and did a first fill yesterday, as per the instruction leaflet..
Interesting new design... (here's the totally non-technical version and is purely my observation: a more technical person may come along and correct this...)
The mouthpiece fits over a silicon grommet which has a central hole, fitting over the central tube through which the air is drawn from a chamber at the bottom of the unit, housing the atomiser coil. The wick seems to be across the coil at the base of the air chamber, and protrudes slightly from a tiny hole either side, into the fluid chamber surrounding it. So I presume that when you draw on the mouthpiece, creating a vacuum in the air chamber housing the coil, capillary action pulls the fluid through the wick and onto the coil which it lies across, vapourising the fluid. In the base of the fluid chamber, below the wick holes, there's a silicon seal connecting to the base assembly.
I'm sure all the above is as clear as mud, so here's a couple of pictures.

So, I wiped out some excess primer fluid beaded on the inside of the tank; didn't bother blowing out, seemed a bit pointless as I found that the primer in the eGo-C has no taste and these are also so new on the market they haven't had time to sit on a shelf and get stale.... first fill done slowly and carefully, not to get any fluid into the central tube, all went well until I replaced the silicone sealing grommet at the top, when it became apparent that there was approx 2ml of chocolate fudge cake e-liquid on my desk and about half a ml in the CE4.
"Oopsie" I said, or words to that effect. Undecided
To cut to the chase, I found that replacing the top soft silicone grommet needs a little juggling, since the natural way to do it is to pick it up by the little "nipple" in the centre and press it back into place; however by pinching the nipple to pick it up between thumb and forefinger, I had sealed the hole and therefore when placing it back into the CE4 I had pushed all the fluid out of the bottom... in much the same way as the smokeymiser needs its bung replaced before holding it upright to seal the fluid chamber.
Having worked this out, future fills will now be simple... except it's quite fiddly to put that seal in without forcing fluid out of the bottom. If only that top seal were made of RIGID plastic, it would simplify replacing it and thus prevent this leakage possibility. I think there may be a lot of reports of inability to fill these successfully because of this, but of course this is my first attempt and the first CE4 for me..... perhaps this assessment will be updated later..
Next, cleaning the threads where the CE4 attaches to the battery. On the instruction leaflet it says to use a cotton bud for this purpose and that would be very simple if the cotton bud were thin enough to reach into the base of the thread assembly...I had to use a few tissues folded to a point in order to get right into the bottom of the thread.... but of course I had made a mess everywhere with the leakage.
At last, attached to a Tornado-C mega passthrough (ooooo, showing off there!) and tentatively vaped. Pulled through the juice needing a soft draw only and
WOWZY  Grin Cool Grin
Flavour is amazing   Cool it gave one of my favourites a whole new dimension... clean taste, crisp and very full-bodied...
as good as the -C?
Certainly on a par.
Excellent vapour ....although I use a high proportion of VG in my mixes so vapour is always good for me, but each device has a different ability to perform and this one is certainly good on performance, both vapour and throat hit.
Oh, and here's my girlie bit.... it's VERY pretty  Cheesy
LMAO
Now, if only the next version could have a rigid top seal.............

Hi Ellie! Kiss   What a wonderful review!  Based on the reviews I've seen so far I was considering taking a pass on these.  But after reading this, and a comment elsewhere from Louise about the excellent flavor that can be had from the CE4s, I think there may just be a 5 pack in my future.  Thanks for taking the time to do this for us hun (and with pictures no less! Wink).  Keep 'em coming! Smiley

P.S.  Is there no way to get a condom over the battery connector when filling on of these?  Like we do with the CE3s?  Just wondering if that would help with the leaking during filling issue. Undecided

Interesting & a nice review but for me I have enough new toys to keep me occupied for a time.
I think I will start creating a new want it list & put the CE4 on it.

Try just placing the white plastic bung on the top of the ce4 and then hold the black tip by its sides and push the whole assembly down carefully seems to work for me. When it does leak cleaning the threads on these is really annoying. Rolling some tissue into a fine long point and trying to push it into the small gap is hard to do.

Good thinking there Carl, that does help, but I'm still struggling a little with filling this little critter...
Thanks for the idea Nick, I found the only condom/cap which I could get to fit the gap inside the threads was a standard cart cap, it needed to be poked into the hole with a toothpick as it's not quite the right shape or size.
It helped to fill this CE4 but then when I put the tip and beak back on, the juice had worked its way up the central tube instead of leaking out on the desk so I had to blow it out of the tube before cleaning the threads.
It would seem that I haven't found a knack for filling this yet, I'm going to break out another one from the pack to check whether this is normal behaviour for a CE4 or just my user cack-handedness...
When three-parts filled (best I've managed so far), wiped clean of juice from the threads and attached to a battery it no longer leaks and vapes well with great flavour and vapour. The throat hit is more than I'm used to with other atty combos.
I've had a couple of odd-tasting hits with it in the middle of a fill too. A hot and harsh hit out of the blue. Not a dry hit, not burned, just very harsh. I'm not chain-vaping this, just using once every half-hour or so, and after a few minutes left alone it was back to good flavour.
I'd be interested in a reason for that.
I'll see if the next one behaves in a similar fashion and post an update.

As I insert the bung and tip Now I am turning the whole thing upside down to push the air upwards works even better.

AHA Carl, lightbulb moment there....
turning it upside down to put the tip on would push any juice back out of the centre tube....
hmmm, need to be sure the seal is seated first or I'll be leaking out of both ends  Shocked
I did manage to get a full tank by doing it your way, thanks  Cheesy
I think this CE4 will be enjoyed by people who like a strong throat hit....
LMAO I can't think why I'm making such hard work of getting the hang of this... maybe I'm spoiled by the utter simplicity of the eGo-C..

I'm permanently over-budget, but have decided to make a concerted effort to reduce the number of new shiny things this year, so have avoided them so far. Having said that, I have bought a TECC Pipe and some Dual Coil Tanks this month Smiley

Thanks for the review, I've been using a Rok Star of late and although it's great for not leaking, the flavour hasn't been great and was looking at these as I've still got some Tornado batteries from when I had a Tank. Your review, especially the comments about the great flavour convinced me to order 5 Smiley

Hi there everybody!

Leakage when refilling is an issue. Pushing the sillicone with the tip is a work-around I found out by myself after many unsuccesful refillings.

Now, do the following 2 things only happen to me? or, are there more users out there in my situation?

1- When I attach it to my TW's eGo Battery, if I screw it just tight (not too much, just what it should) then drawing becomes impossible, there's no air-flow at all. It's so stiff you feel like you're sucking the jelly out of a donut with a straw. No way! I must unscrew the battery about a quarter of a turn in order to let the air come in.

2- Sometimes, the draw becomes suffocating, sometimes too sweet, sometimes the vapor is so "wet" that makes me cough. It's completely ramdom....untill I found out that if I remove the white silicone cap....vaping becomes an-out-of-this-world pleasure. The drawback/minus is that you have to be very carefull: if the tank is full..no way, and if it slips from your hands and falls down...you're in for a pretty mess. When the silicone cap is out of the equation, even the 1st issue becomes less relevant.

It seems to me, this is an air flow general issue.
I'm all ears.

Cheers!

tbh and please dont take any offence but i didnt know people were still using these. everyone seemed to jump ship to the DCT's when they came out and they are good.

Im personally back to the ego C although I had the Ce4 out today during a clean out and it seems to work fine I didnt have any air flow issues although im maybe just lucky.

The one thing I always liked about the ce4 was that you can see the atomizing chamber and see it fizz and pop. Its a great demoing tool for non vapers to see what is happening.
