Hello!
Not sure if this is the right sub forum...
I was vaping for around 14 months when I moved to china last October. I had purchased around 4/5 bottle of liquid before i left but because my boxes and stuff took so long to arrive I went back to smoking cigarettes. 8 months on I'm starting to get sick of smoking again so i've just ordered a some stuff to keep me going for a while.
My question is, will the liquid I bought around sept / oct last year still be okay to use now? I only found it the other day, still bubble wrapped and in the original bottles.
What do you think?

Kept sealed, out of the light and relatively cool ... it should be absolutely fine.

Yeah, just to go into the science. Nicotine does dissociate after a while. You will always get a little break down with it in the bottle no matter what you do. You could refrigerate it but that is going to the extreme. As long as it is not in direct sunlight it should be not too bad as UV breaks down nicotine. Also heat will do the same. If you keep a spare bottle in your pocket it will also break it down. I just keep stock liquid in a cold place in a dark draw and it is ok and then just have the odd 10ml with me as I use it before it would start to break down .

Great, thanks for the replies.
Not sure if it's been kept 'cool' as such, but assuming it wasn't, would there be any negative side effects or is it just not going to be as potent?

Keeping it cool is not that important as long as it is not in Direct sunlight or sat on top of a radiator. If anything, as you said, it just won't be as potent. There won't be any negative side effects

I'm actually sat vaping from a bottle of tobacco I bought from 'light in the box' about three years ago. It's fine. I've been doing my yearly clear-out of old gear; I keep all my liquids in an old pub/bar fridge in the dark. This one somehow escaped vaping until now.
As you've already been told, technically nicotine degrades over time but leaving a bottle out in the heat and sun is going to produce the worst degradation. I've left little five ml dropper bottles in the car for a week in this sort of weather, and the contents have turned (I think that there can be chemical reactions between the nicotine and some flavourings, speeded up with heat and light). I've noticed that smaller volumes of liquid do fare worse, sealed bottles fare the best.

I purchesed a bottle of Platinum Ice PEG-400 about a year ago... I really dont like it as I find it only really tasted nice with 1 flavour I had so it stopped getting used and in the last month has turned from a clear colour to an orangy brown beer like colour! I vaped it to see if it tasted different but it was still the same taste I dont like! I don't think its still available so a pretty pointless post from me... But I would imagine that it could potentially happen to a different base fluid possibly.

it will change colour and the nic strength will diminish over time from daylight so best kept in a darker area but yeah still fine to vape
