Hi everyone,

This is my first 'ever' review so please be gentle  Wink

Red Label Spearmint concentrate

Equipment

My review has been carried out using a Tornado Tank, regular atomisers (blown out) and clean tanks. I vaped this flavour using  a standard fully charged battery.

Appearance/Smell

This liquid is totally clear. On opening the bottle I expected the smell to  jump out and hit my nostrils, however this didn't happen. I had to squeeze the bottle to expel a little air and then I could actually smell 'spearmint'!

Mixing

The base liquid I used was Premium Ice (PG) 54mg. Mixing was at 80%PG / 20%VG to an 18mg nicotine strength. The flavour was mixed at 10% at first, then 20%, with a 3ml total volume for each mix. The flavour concentrate was easy to use and dripped well.

Flavour review 10% mix

I tried the 10% concentrate mix first of all. To be honest I found this mix to be very lacking in flavour. There was a slight spearmint flavour on the inhale, and a cool feel on the tongue, but on the exhale I found most of the taste to have disappeared. There was a throat hit, I think this being due to the nicotine content rather than the overall flavour of the liquid.
After vaping this mix for several minutes I found that I couldn't really taste a lot of flavour anymore, and decided to mix up a stronger batch.

Flavour review 20% mix

I found this mix to be much more satisfying. The spearmint flavour, and it is a very 'clear' spearmint flavour hit much harder this time. There was also quite a sweet taste to it, but this could have been due to the PG/VG mix. On the inhale I felt a very cool almost tingling sensation on the tongue. The exhale still held the spearmint flavour, and the cool tongue tingling lasts well after all the vapour has been exhaled. The throat hit seemed quite harsh this time, although with prolonged vaping the throat hit did disappear somewhat (but I do find this happens with most flavours)

Overall Flavour

This flavour is exactly what it states on the bottle 'spearmint'. If you've ever sat there and chewed on a 'spearmint softmint' (not sure if you get them in the US, but UK people will know what I mean) then this concentrate just reminds me of them! I suppose it also tastes like some toothpastes that you can get!  A 20% mix may be too strong for some, but my normal vape is menthol and I do like minty or menthol flavours to have a bit of a kick!

I wouldn't imagine that this flavour could be mixed with another without it being overpowering. I regularly mix menthol with cherry, or cola with cherry, but would imagine that the spearmint would not taste so good with other flavours.

Would I buy Spearmint red label concentrate?
Yes I think I would, its cool and refreshing and definitely my type of flavour Wink

Louise, yeah the kids are starting to drive me nuts!!! Caught my son today fighting on the park with his friend!  Shocked Well I say fighting... it was more handbags at dawn, but never the less they shouldn't have been doing it! I don't like to see kids fight.
My daughter on the other hand isn't happy unless I'm bouncing on the trampoline with her!
I'm all bounced out! lol.
One week to go - funny thing is I miss them when they're not here!

Lol, Carol, you'll be fine. I just felt weird about doing a review because I'm still fairly new to the whole Tank-Vape experience... but I still love it  Grin
Read some of the other reviews  and that gives you an idea on how to set the page out... then just 'do your thang' lol Wink

Nice Ceekay, I`ve just noticed you got the spearmint.

If I was to try any of the mints out of curiosity, it probably would have been this one, but you mention the "tongue tingling" which has put me right off already.

Is it anything like "Spearmint Imperials"...you know the big green ones as opposed to the little white ones that you used to be able to buy ?
That`s what i would expect it to be like.....the sweeter less noxious outer shell if you know what I mean.

I wouldn`t buy a mint though even just to try as I couldn`t possibly vape it all day long - everything else would taste weird I`m sure, but then again some people chew gum all day and that`s not something I could do either.

Not easily pleased me  Grin

Well done Ceekay  Grin I know how it feels, doing a first review!! But I'm glad to see that you had some success with a higher percentage concentratation (in the mint sphere!)...makes me feel justified in my rejection of disappointment in the lower flavour concentrations  Grin

My lasting memory of peppermint is my Granny offering me a 'pandrop' from the bottom of her handbag... Shocked Goodness knows what else was in there... Huh I haven't really liked peppermont since...for some reason... Roll Eyes Grin

LOL To be honest Fad I haven't heard of 'spearmint imperials' , I have heard of the normal mint imperials (the little white ones)  because my mum loves them, and my daughter always has one before she comes out of 'grandmas house' lol.
If you know the softmints, the chewy ones made by 'trebor' (are we allowed to use brand names on here?) then it tastes just like the spearmint version of them. Really yummy, lol.
I'm a true menthol head! Love the stuff, and anything mint too....

Lol @ Bug, love that story about your grandma's handbag... yeah any woman's handbag is like sticking your hand into the deep unknown! ( I am female by the way Tongue ) I dread to think what's in the bottom of mine, I know there is a pck of very old chewing gum! I always keep it 'just in case' Wink  Actually I used to keep chewy handy because theres nothing worse than having to talk to someone face to face when you've just had a ciggie (especially if they don't smoke!) I don't have that problem anymore! So I could actually get rid of them lol Cheesy

Grin Yeah! I'm very bad for using my handbag as a repository of sorts!! My mum calls my handbag 'a glorified pencil case'...take from that what you will  Shocked I  Cherry menthol, extra and midnight black as I recall...Terrible the lengths one might go, to avoid even a whiff of 'Waynetta' from 'Harry and chums'  Huh

Ceekay, those remind me of eating Galaxy counters (chocolate...loved those in my day!) or 'skimmers'...see how many times you can get them to bounce on the surface of the water...I do love chewy mints though...but can't make them last  Wink

Carol, I am coming to look in your bag  Wink I haven't had money anuwhere, far less in the bottom of my bag! since the kids were born Shocked Grin

Great review Julie. Thanks for that........   Smiley

I'm another one who would quite happily vape menthol / mentholyptus and/or mint all day so naturally the RL spearmint appeals and I'd like to see how it lines up against the rather excellent DV Nana Mint.....

Mentioning mixing this one with other flavours, well, I used to mix the Nana Mint with the RL Black Tea when it was available. Sounds strange but it actually worked - gorgeous......  Tongue

Well done again and happy vaping....

Hi Carol. Nana Mint is quite subtle but it has a nice 'clean' taste and I tend to mix it at around 16 to 17%, which is 4 to 5% more than when I'm mixing Menthol or Mentholyptus - it won't blow your socks off but I'm sure you'll like it.

Sorry to learn that it's out of stock though......   Sad

LOL - you're very welcome...

Black Tea was one of the first Red Label pre-mixes I purchased (summer of 2009, I think) but, along with Green Tea (which I never got to try) and a few others, it was discontinued sometime around Autumn / Fall 2010. Guess it wasn't everyone's 'cup of tea' - sorry, couldn't resist - I'll fetch my coat....   Embarrassed

Great on it's own with its subtle flavour, I fancied marrying it up with a flavour equally as gentle and thought of the Nana Mint - and the mix became my own twist on a 'spearmint tea' type of juice. Nice first thing in the morning with a cuppa.......   Tongue

Happy vaping

Hmm, interesting - I've never mixed Nana Mint with Cherry. Wonder if that would work? Might have to give that a try one day. I can vouch for the Sour Cherry and Menthol mix though - that's really nice......   Tongue
