I've put Essex on the map......   Cheesy

Can I suggest that Greater London is also added to the list ? Don't want to leave out the Londoners........   Smiley

Sorry everyone, it would appear I have gotten hold of an ou-of-date counties list and am trying to get rectified as people notify me, my apologies...

Yep I thought that - I looked for Bristol but had to put my vote in Avon instead.

Similar but with much less power - counties can't set taxes for example. Some counties have democratically elected councils at county level but some counties have multiple unitary district councils within them.
Councils have limited authority to set byelaws (local laws that apply only within the council boundary) - any proposed byelaws have to be approved by central government

Avon has been changed to Bristol now.

If there any others that need to be removed, edited, updated let us know.

Damn, I am always busy the weekend of the harbour festival. I'll just have to put up with my dad telling me how much fun he's had (unless he has a few too many and falls in-it's going to happen sooner or later Undecided).
I love Bristol, really cool place, love checking out the street art and there is always something going on. I'm dead jealous of my ol' man!

City & County of Swansea here, but West Glamorgan as was (not sure what happened to the rest of West Glam after Swansea got hived off around about the millenium - perhaps it just doesn't exist any more Smiley)

EDIT: it appears there's now a County Borough of Neath-Port Talbot, Cardiff is also a "city and county" unitary authority, and the inelegantly named borough of Rhondda-Cynon-Taff hoovered up the remaining unclaimed bogs, pastures, and no few livestock. How is splitting one coherent county into 4 fragmentary new "bodies" an improvement in efficiency? That's anyone's guess Wink

Politicians?  Just say "no"! Wink

Afraid none of us exist anymore Nick, Welsh politicians are as bad as their english counterparts.
Cardiff is all they see, the rest of us are all outsiders.
When Wales got a Capital city in the 50s, Swansea wanted it, Cardiff said no but it went to Cardiff anyway.
With the national assembly more recently same thing, Swansea said yes, Cardiff said no but it went to Cardiff.
Democracy in action, they give you the vote then tell you what their going to do anyway

Yeah - if voting changed anything, they wouldn't let us do it Sad
