I'm very curious about this, I've heard people with many conflicting opinions on when and how much this should be done.

Needs to be a selection for only as needed.... that's the category where I fall into

As I'm only a newbie I'm going to keep an eye on this thread as I have no idea when,  how often or what method is best!

As you say VapHead there are lots of conflicting opinions!

Darth Vaper how do you know when it's needed?

Poor performance (fading vapor)
It seems to vary with some of my eliquid concoctions...... but has gotten better since sticking with mostly DV/PR concentrates.

Sometimes nasty flavors..... partially stemming from me having way to many flavorings on hand and it not tasting as good as it sounded.

Really haven't had to clean any of my LR atties

It all really varies for me...... but it's only done as necessary..... blowing them out a couple of times a day seems to do the most good though...... gets out all the non vapeable liquid (brown stuff)  that lingers around and later sticks to the coil.

Also depends on what you call "cleaning".
As I drip 98% of the time i really don't find a need to clean my atties. other than than blowing them out on occasion. Standing them up at night to drain..... which I rarely even do any more.  Once in a blue moon maybe dry burning one for a few secs.

I voted Never as the closest I ever get to cleaning them nowadays is a quick blow through when necessary i.e if flooded etc.

I voted never. However, I do clean one when it has died (or is close to it). I drop the atty in a little Everclear (grain alcohol)and then let it dry naturally. Sometimes an atty will revive; sometimes not. I found that doing anything other than blowing one out occassionally result in earlier failure.

For a new atty, I also don't do any cleaning...just a few quick puffs that I don't inhale to clear out the primer.

Never. I don't even bother draining them overnight. I just blow out the primer when I fit them, and then I vape them till they drop Smiley

When I started I made attempts at cleaning...mostly failed...I just blow out old fluid once in a while

I voted never as I'll only bother trying to clean one if I get a flavour I can't stand and then I'll usually just put the atomiser aside or bin it.

Perhaps I misunderstood the question because I have started this thing where I blow my attys out every night before I go to bed, which I interpreted as cleaning.  So I voted more than 2 or 3 times per week and now I am noticing that this really wasn't considered cleaning so perhaps my vote should be changed to never.  I don't do anything fancy like soaking them or any of that kind of stuff.  Once or twice a week I will take a Q-tip with medicinal alcohol on it and wipe around the connections of everything, but that's really about all I do.  I only do this because my intention was to soak them in alcohol, but I suppose I misunderstood the type of alcohol people were talking about so I bought regular medicinal alcohol rather than the fast drying or consumable alcohol and now I have to use it for something.  Chalk it up to a rookie mistake I guess.

i voted never. im still new only been vaping for about two weeks. i have done a lot of looking and it seems that it does more harm than good  to do any of the baths (coke, alcohol, ect.) or any thing. but i might try blowing through them or soaking in warm water once i order more so if i ruin them i will have back ups

I voted "never" but about a week ago I took a bunch of old attys and boiled them for a few minutes. Then I tested one for a day or so and it seemed like new. So I blew them all out and let them dry thoroughly before putting them away for future use as spares. Wink

this is sort of a stupid question but I'm pretty much on board with the occasional blow through and i do let them dry out overnight.

my question is... which end am I supposed to blow through? i always blow through the small hole on the connector side, meaning I'm pushing the liquid out towards the atty, and when i let it dry overnight, i set it upside down, so the liquid drains out to the atty as well.

should i be doing it the other way around? 0.0

Leave it to Jeffy

But I use to clean them everyday.  That was until I started using cartomizers.  Which you can't clean at all.  And in my case the cartomizers last just as long as a regular atty does.  So I simply quit cleaning at all.  Even blowing them out.  Because you can't do that with cartomizers either.  So I think cleaning or blowing them out only gives you a false sense of securit IMHO

I'm with Horsemen, about 95%.

I primarily use cartos as well although I have found that boiling them for a minute or so after a week or two of use seems to help renew their flavor and general performance.

But, I don't do that with the plastic cart cartos from TW as the plastic does not like heat at all and instead, periodically boil cartos that are of the ceramic variety.

Actually, I haven't found the TW cartos to need cleaning so their not liking high temperatures isn't a problem.
