Greetings All,

After running trolling around on the forums I noticed there might be at least one other Ham on here..

*looks at kd0afk* ..

Just curious about the members ... Or if anyone on here is interested in Amateur Radio .. Just drop in and say hi!

M0SRF...though I haven't been active for years
I keep looking at the gear and thinking its such a waste gathering dust...but then if I got back into it I wouldn't be able able to buy like for like (even if I could afford it!)

Excellent,

Nice to make your acquaintance Robin ...

I just got my U.S. Amateur General last year so I am now studying for my Extra license .. I'm not very active on HF due to a limited selection of Bands.. I haven't scrapped enough dough for a tuner yet..

I have an older Kenwood TS-830S which I adore .. love the tube hybrid rigs ..

Worst thing I did was give back the borrowed FT101 (all analogue!) and manual tuner and get all singing/dancing shack in a box type radios and an auto tuner

Flicking round the bands is just too easy and is all just a push button away...it kind of lost its magic for me

Doesn't help that I tend to ride motorbikes rather than take a car these days - so that's 90% of my operating window gone
My car doesn't have a roof or windscreen and is largely fiberglass - so the "toy car" is pretty unsuitable
Recently had a baby so thats the home time pretty much sapped up as well

I do very occasionally flick the FT847 on and scan UHF/VHF - and will play with the satellites some more one day (have an as yet unassembled or tested VHF and UHF pair that I was going to homebrew an elevation rotator for)

FT100D is a keeper...just in case I get the urge to fit it to the Mrs's car which is conventional and more secure
Had it installed in her last motor with an ATAS 120 and U/VHF dual band whip...but when she changed the car the radio didn't get invited ;-)

FT817ND is on charge - just in case I get the urge to pop it into a pannier and try my luck at some portable QRP ops...maybe when my lad is a little older it will be an excuse to go somewhere nice and play with kite lofted bits of wire etc

Regards
Rob

MM3OJV,

Nice to make your acquaintance and I am glad to see another ham roaming around TW.

I'll have to keep an ear out for you on 20m and 40m when I get my new antennas up.
