Titan-Tornado-SD MKII

« on: December 12, 2010, 06:55:39 PM »

I'm a taxi driver and got a titan to be able to use in my car as the smoking laws in the uk cover taxis and also in the area I live the person who regulates us also regulates the smoking laws so regular ash checks get done on the cars. Now I got a Black titan and realy didnt think about it at the time but the end lights up blue just woundering how the police in the uk would be with me vaping in my car not so much with the smoking laws but more the fact I have a blue flashing light in the car when im vaping like a trooper any one had any problems with this I know they arent a fan of flashing blue lights being visible in cars.

Well, you need the Tornado Passthrough.. lol.. only the press button lights up, and that is covered by your finger, hehe.

But I never had a problem when I used my Titan while driving.. but you could probably find a pen top to cover the light to hide it  Undecided

I certainly would not think you are going to be flashing a blue light very noticeable. It's not police size and it does "glow", not flash. If it is an issue for you, I would think just pointing it slightly down would solve anyone really seeing anything.  I suppose you could actually ask a policeman and if he is a smoker, you could turn him on to vaping instead of stinking. Shocked
Good luck.

It's probably wise to order a cone, though you don't actually need it.. but makes it look good if you are using 510 atomisers Grin

Some of the stuff I've head people getting stopped for in the uk some of the ones you posted are prime examples others I've heard of are things like nose picking and just talking in a car with the passengers technically is a distraction. Some times us cab drivers do get away with things like you can't talk on a mobile phone but we can use a cb other times the police just love to pull us over for stupid things I had one police man threaten to impound my car for a breaklight bulb even when I had a spare to change there and then also had one stop me for picking up on double yellow lines when I pointed out I was stopped not parked and asked him the difference between double reds and double yellows he got rather abusive. By far the best I ever heard though was about a mans satnav told him to turn off a cliff so he got so annoyed with it he smashed it on the road then got pulled for littering

Sorry to raise this thread from the dead but there is an interesting question that was not previously brought up.

UK law states that hand-held electronic devices cannot be used whist driving unless mounted to the car. This is obviously referring to devices you need to look at such as a phone or GPS but how vague is the law? Could an e-cig come under this law as it is a hand-held electronic device?

Are there any forum members who work in law and might be able to shed some more light on this?

The reason I ask is because I am a driving instructor and like to vape between lessons but as you might well imagine I have to keep my licence squeaky clean and don't wan't to get points for using a hand-held electronic device just because the law is vague.

If it’s a pass-through you can argue that it’s mounted to the car  Wink

if your police and courts are like the ones here in the states... if an officer wants to be a jerk and ticket you for it he probably could.. but most like likely it'll get thrown out in court
