 Sad Hi there

I have been vaping about 8 weeks now and am really struggling with the flavours!!

Due to the flavours just losing taste when I was mixing myself I ordered some totally wicked premixed menthol and it was excellent, but now after about 4 days I am back to the stage of it tastes of nothing  Smiley Smiley it was sweet and menthol

It does not matter what I do the flavours just wear off on me, I have put many drops of flavour to a mix and also with premixed I can't taste anything why does this keep happening to me

Does anyone else have this problem

I am using 510 atomiser, tornado battery and direct dripping

looking forward to anyone else that has experienced this? I have read many times about the taste buds going but I don't agree with this, it tastes nice then it does not, I can't get consistency with it  Angry

this happens to a lot of people. if you use 1 flavor to long the you find it has no taste. i dont know why, but i will change flavor when this happens. i love coffee flavors , but if i vape the all the time , i cant taste them. i will change the flavor to a orange or apple for a few days to wake up my taste buds. this works for me, because the coffee flavor comes back strong.

DV Absinthe is the ultimate vape flavour :-)

« Reply #2 on: November 15, 2011, 06:31:34 PM »

A lot of people here keep changing flavours several times a day to keep them from becoming dull.
Have you tried altering flavours during the day?

I have simular problems as well.
Sometimes most just taste something slight chemical and very dull.
I have only found one flavour that I actually like and that is Absinthe. I love Absinthe  Cheesy
Even Absinthe get dull on me from time to time. but I think that is because I dont change flavours every now and then.

I have to change my flavour every couple of days, not because of a lack of taste but more because I dont want my taste buds getting too used to a flavour. That and because there are just far too many flavours I want to try lol

This problem just seems to be part of the natural progression that happens to all of us when changing from analogues to vaping and tends to go through different stages as we readjust to our new habit.
And yeah I've been there too, so your not alone  Wink

Edit.
Yep, also agree about what the others are saying. Changing flavours regularly defiantly helps keep things fresh Smiley

Analoges taste like s**t but that soon passes.

The more hot food we eat the hotter we can go.

The third glass of wine doesnt taste as good as the first.

Its not just flavours that we vape that become dull......its just how our sense of taste works imo.

I think most of us have the same problem!

My vaping has evolved over time so that now I always have several flavours on the go at any one time to combat this problem. Currently I have four tornados and one screwdriver with a mixture of two tobaccos, roasted chestnut, cafe braziliano, Lime and absinthe  Huh (I'm just vaping at the computer ATM). Even when I'm out I always carry at least two fully loaded tornados with me  Smiley

Even then, you can over do it a bit and find you can't taste much but with a small degree of moderation the flavours still taste fresh.

The down side of all this is that you need several batteries and multiple attys, the upside is that you get to buy loads of new shiney things and flavours Cheesy

Cheesy wow thank you all for the replies, it does appear to be a common problem then you have all said, need to change the flavour on a regular basis, this would make sense considering that the premix menthol was excellent and now tastes of nothing..... Smiley

I suppose this gives me the excuse of ordering more flavours then  Cheesy thats such a shame  Grin Grin

Thanks so much to all with such a clear solution to this problem  Grin

my tastebuds went awol after I started vaping too. infact they still do sometimes.
I vape 4 different flavours everyday to add variety for my tastebuds.
Sometimes I'll even suck on a boiled sweet with a flavour that's different but complements what I'm vaping  Smiley

I find it hard when I read on the forums everyone saying how lovely flavours are etc and I am sat here thinking why me  Sad I don't get that feeling at all, will I do at first then it wears off

So I have now mixed up a tobacco with 15 drops of cherry flavour  concentrate and still cannot taste the cherry, the flavour bottle smells excellent but it does not vape the same as the concentrate smell, it drives me nuts  Angry  thats why I stuck to menthol as it appeared to be the best but even that now feels like vamping iced air, the flavour is weird

Just a FYI.  You should try to stay off the menthol for a couple days.  Straight menthol is very hard on the taste buds.  I know that is what I vape and went through the same thing as you.

If you can stop the menthol for a couple of days and vape something else I think you will find when you go back to the menthol it will taste better.  Then after that start to alternate something else with the menthol.

Took me several months to figure this out, but it all worked out in the end.  You just have to hang in there.

Good advice thank you, I will do that, I have now put down my premixed menthol and will use the cherry/tobacco mix and just use this tomorrow and hope something kicks in, for me its about the flavour and I am trying so hard to keep going with this  Sad

im going through the same thing, in fact im coming through it with after a few bad days no weeks

my tips are easy, change flavours every day or so even if its for half a day

drink lots of water i find after an ice cold drink im back on track

this is the daft one but worked like a dream, lemon juice, fresh or otherwise ( jif ) just a table spoon in your mouth for a few seconds wakes the taste buds like you wont believe,
spit it out if you want, use it like a mouth wash and hey presto

acid in the lemon seems to strip the taste buds back to what they were, a pallet cleansing if you will

good luck

Lol, I hit the wrong button earlier hence the modify. I'm going to have to try the lemon juice thing as my taste buds are totally dead. I got some new flavors in this past Saturday but at the moment I only have one working atomiser. I usually smoke American Red Tobacco but the flavor is gone. I'm trying some Hilton right now and am not really tasting it either. I'm waiting to get more atomisers in this Friday so I can try the fruit flavors that I have. I had read before that this can happen and was trying to be prepared and WHAMMO two dead atomisers this past Thursday!

When I go to work, I bring 2 attys with 2 different flavors, and I switch periodically throughout the day.  I find it to be best with me if I have very different flavors...  Example, today I have DV apple, and doppio espresso.  If I feel like bringing the apple, I won't bring french apple tart, or I wouldn't do tiramisu with the espresso.  But I like to have 2 flavors and change throughout the day.

Its quite interesting seeing all these comments, like some mentioned earlier I also still smoke analogues (only 5 a day now) and vape for the rest of the time and I don't get fed up with the flavour....... the tobacco flavour I am now vaping tastes like tobacco, but I cannot for the life of me taste the 15 drops of cherry even though I can smell it  Cheesy

I love the vaping so much it is a great product and this website is amazing and you lovely people keep me going as I would have probably given up by now

as many say I am always looking for that perfect vape, but I suppose a lot of the fun is to keep trying (costing me a fortune though in premixes/flavours/un flavoured etc)

I have the same thing at the moment with my menthol, it had a lovely taste that reminded me of seaside rock till yesterday now the taste seems to not be there although the menthol feeling is. Guess I'll bear with it till my yo yo order arrives, i've run out of my cherry flavour, and im not overly keen on the mint choc chip i have,

Hi Angie, hang in there if you can. Smiley  I have a minimum of 4-5 flavors going at any given time, and it's usually more like 6-8.  And I constantly switch between them all day long.  Even so, by the end of the day I don't taste too much of what I'm vaping.  I don't vape menthol, but I know that it will kill your sense of taste it you vape it all the time (so I guess I'm actually agreeing with Horsey here! Shocked).  I've just recently started on Absinthe and Lime Zinger, and I can already tell that I'm going to have the same problem with them.  I'm going to have to keep them for occasional treats.  The first time I tried Absinthe I hit it heavy for two days in a row and I was even loosing the taste of the food I was eating. Sad

Regarding changing flavors.  I have eleven Tornado batteries, two "big battery" VV mods, and a Wicked stick, and I dedicate one Tank (or CE3, or Mega D/C carto) to each flavor, but I do this because I have lots of kit from the last yo yo (and the one before that (and the one before that)).  My point being....... Undecided (did I have one??).......... Undecided  oh, yeah... you don't have to make such a big investment to switch up flavors (although I do recommend that you have backups for all of your kit).  You could do it with, say, just a couple of batteries, and, oh, maybe three attys (or cartos or whatever).  All strong flavors will be hard to get out, so you'll want one atty that's dedicated to menthol (or flavors that you mix with menthol), one for fruit flavors, and another for coffee flavors (if you vape them).  Then, when one tank (or carto/clearo/whatever) is empty, you could just refill it with another flavor from that group.  This way you would always have at least three flavors going at once, and you would be swapping each one out with another one from the same group when you refill.   Undecided   ......Or then there's that "one atty for each flavor" thing and a multi 5 pack of Tornado batteries (and don't forget a 5 or 10 port charger). Cheesy

However you manage it, switching flavors is definitely the way to go.  And one other tip..... sometimes less really is more.  You can "over-flavor" your mixes, and at a certain point too much flavor concentrate percentage can taste like too little.  When working with a new flavor (or one I've not vaped in a long time (because your taste buds do change)) I usually start with a test mix at 10-15% flavor at the most, then work up from there until I find the concentration that I like the best.  And being the flavor hound that I am, I usually end up at 20-30% flavor, but I know it's the right concentration for me because I started low and worked worked my way up to it.

One other thing.  For some reason we make the switch to vaping, all seem to go though a period of time where we can't taste anything at all.  For some this happens shortly after we start vaping, for other it doesn't hit until six months, or sometimes even longer, after we've made the switch.  Sometimes it will last a day or two, and for others weeks, or even months.  For some it's a one time thing, and for others it comes and goes.  But the important bit is that it does, at some point GO.  So if/when you experience this, just hang in and remember it's only a temporary thing, and will eventually pass.  I hope some of this rambling is in some way a help. Grin

Happy vaping, Smiley

I bought a few of those little 5ml bottles and have a different flavour in each and drip different flavours all day.  I have different tobacco flavours so they all kinda go together... I wouldn't recommend this if you're using say fruit flavours and tobacco flavours... the taste of cherry in the atty never seems to go away once you have used it!!

So I got home yesterday and tried the lemon thing. It was puckering me up so bad I couldn't swish it around in my mouth. It didn't work very well for me but at least it provided some free entertainment for my daughter. My saliva glands are working overtime right now just thinking about it.

Over here in the UK, Asda (Walmart) do their own brand of tonic water with a twist of lemon and I find that with it chilled nice and cold, it goes down really well when vaping.
