Maybe this isn't in the right section, but I'm looking for some of the foam that can be put in a case to line it and have cutouts to house the usual things like batteries, cats, atomisers etc.

I've got a couple of clasp type cases that are a perfect pocket size and were originally intended for Titans, but their plastic inners don't make the best use of the space.

I'm looking for the type of fairly dense foam that cuts well with a sharp craft knife, but doesn't fragment with wear.

Can anyone suggest a UK supplier or at least what it's typically called so that I can Google for suppliers?

Cheers

I don't know about the UK, but here in the US, we have craft stores that sell it. Someone had put up a link to it, but, I cant remember where it is.  Sad You should be able to find it at the rather large craft/hobby stores. Hope that helps. Maybe someone with a better memory than I can post the link again to joanne fabrics who had the foam. But, I think that place is only in the US, and they dont do online orders if I remember right. I think that was one of the places to get it. Good luck. I need to do the same thing eventually.

I was wondering...if anyone is familiar with a pistol case...Easily purchased for about 15 bucks, and can be locked. it has the almost eggshell type of sponge foam and when closed, compressed nicely. Well, it does with a pistol, but, I dont know how that would be for batteries and such and bottles. of course, as soon as you open it, everything would be loose, unless you cut out the foam on one side of the case, or added the heavier foam to the case. I have a pistol case, but, it is currently occupied at the moment  Wink So, I haven't tried top put ENI stuff in it, but, the size of the case is pretty good for a single sized case.

As Lunawolf suggested the craft stores do have a decent variety it seems.

I recently purchased some really thin stuff to line a cigarette case for my tornados
Was available in 1/16th and 1/4 inch thicknesses. Was very dense foam.

That was at ACMoore... Micheals and JoAnne fabrics carry some as well. Not sure what chain craft stores are in the UK but I imagine even the local craft stores have something for what your looking for. Some hobby shops carry different foams as well.

I know Pelican products aren't cheap! But then neither are the items that their cases are built to hold.

The replacement foam pictured with all the "waves" wouldn't be suitable in this instance. The cheapest "flat" foam looked to be about $40, but I'm betting that's way more foam than one would need for a 510 case. Smiley

In any event, I found the page by searching for "foam inserts" via Google. I'm sure there cheaper options out there.

You can also get what is called Pick 'n Pluck Foam from Pelican that comes in different sizes that is meant to be used in their cases.  I've got a couple of their hard cases that I've used the foam in to carry what I need when I travel.

If you haven't invested in the expensive foam yet, go to walmart or target or any other store that sells gardening supplies. You can find a one piece of foam for kneeling on concrete that is sturdy but easy to cut. The thickness is usually perfect or requires just a bit of trimming. One of my buddies used this exact foam to line a nintendo ds case to house his tornado and it rocks. So I bought a Plano pocket tackle case and did the same thing and it works excellent. For foam, case, and razors to cut the foam I spent like ten bucks. The foam kneeling pad can be had for 3 or 4 bucks. Just look around at a few stores, I guarantee you will find something that works.

I'm fortunate to have a shop called simply "The Foam Shop" two minutes walk from my house. However if you enter "foam" into google.co.uk and limit the search to "pages from the UK" you'll find hundreds of vendors. If you're feeling lazy you can just click here to view the results  Smiley

In the US, there is Michaels that sells it (actually picked some up today) it is $.99 a sheet for the 6mm or for a bigger sheet of the 2mm.

The link that had been posted that was mentioned above is: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?CATID=cat3156&PRODID=xprd1023052

The drawback with this being JoAnn, Walmart, Michaels and most other linked craft stores don't exist in the UK which is where I'm trying to find the foam...

Hey Tyke-

Just check wherever gardening supplies are sold. I've never been to the UK, but I am assuming that you have those who like to grow their own veggies or flowers or whatever.

On a side note, it is probably good that you don't have Wal-Mart. It is a really scary place after 1 am or so. It's a lot like a live viewing of The Hills Have Eyes, LoL. Check out peopleofwalmart.com. You'll see what I mean.

I completely agree with Derga. We both live and work at the same place, and he is right. walmart is really scary around that time. But this state is generally scary most of the time.

Yeah, I live less than a mile from one, and occasionally some of the wildlife wanders into my neighbourhood.

LOL @ Walmart after midnight (and I know exactly about the one you all are referring to)

I'm using an eyeglass snap-case to store my Titan stuff in - it's a hard shell case, so nothing gets smushed - 30ml bottles don't fit in it, but the little 10's and 5's do. Certainly the UK has some kind of craft store over there (I can't imagine no artsy people living in the UK). What about a sports store? where there could be foam to line a helmet with? That stuff is usually dense and can be 'carveable'.

There are certainly craft shops in the UK, but none in the town where I live, my car is in the body shop until Saturday and I'm going to be mad busy from the following Monday.

I'd normally shop online, but I'm struggling to find a supplier and while I could buy from the USA it feels absurd to buy a product for a couple of dollars and pay $30 to get it shipped. I think I'll try one of the gardening type kneeling pads which are green and far too thick and see how creative I can be with a good sharp Stanley knife Smiley

It's slightly annoying I must admit, but it's not doing me any harm to walk a bit even though I live in the Pennine hills Wink

Thinking of trading my car in and it had some carpark body damage (don't you just love people that clobber your car and run off) and was offered a stupid value for it because of the damage. The repair is costing less than 1/3rd of the supposed loss in value due to the damage and the body shop has an excellent reputation with people I trust.

Yeah, I'm not sure how you UK-ers feel about what to do with those people, but I think that decent length stay in the bootyhouse (Prison) is in order.

Well literally speaking leaving the scene of an accident (even hitting a parked car) is a criminal offence with a heavy fine, possible driving ban and maybe prison time, but that requires a quick thinking witness.

Personally I would just nuke them from orbit as it's the only way to be sure  Shocked

I dig that very much. Although I think if we went old-school with some public humiliation/public butt whippins, we would probably avoid a lot of problems.

If you are still having issues with finding a foam like substance that will not corrode or crumble after cutting and still be strong enough for you ENI then think of alternative ways to preserve other kinds of foam after its been cut. This opens up more options as to the kind of foams you can use. I haven't made one for my titan yet, but i have in the past made many cases that had a foam backing that i simply covered the one side with a nice thin layer of leather and made sure that it was nicely sealed before placing it into the actual case for the permanent placement (pool stick cases and such)
