Please help the vapers from NY , this is tragic if we lose our right to vape.  Cry

i hate this #%$$# state government , it gets to the point it does not matter who you vote for. Please let them know how vaping has changed your life.
NY is the 1st state, yours will be next, so again please help.
thanks
a NY vaper

Good Catch Guys,

I've taken the opportunity to respond and direct the NY State Senators to the CASAA website to better arm themselves for the vote.  I got the call for action earlier this evening from the CASAA mail list..

Thanks,
Casey

Joke!

Do they not have anything better to do in NY...............................

I think a mobile phone has a battery in it, they have been known to explode, so have laptops - maybe they should ban them as well, would make NY a much quieter place!!!

Very true chunky1234,

There was a local politician round my way in England trying to get them banned a few months back after they'd read a report about an battery exploding and knocking out someone's teeth! I hastned to show him pictures of all my TW batteries, all with very clear CE marks on them! This campaign seems to have ended now thankfully!

the senator who wrote the NY bill is very powerful, and he can get it passed, so NY might be the 1st e cig banned state. i can tell you this , if NY bans them, other states will follow.

That is a shame! Although I do live on the over side of the pond. Had a quick look at the legisation it sounds strange? After one exploded battery they would try to ban E-cigs. I would say maybe the quality of E-cig it's self is in question, but not all E-cigs will suffer from this issue, because they are built to a higher quality and maybe a one off manurfacturing fault, maybe? (The bill should be about improving the saftey legisation of the E-cig, not a total ban) Further more if you had a car and it exploded do you ban all cars? If someone eats a donut and chokes do we ban all donuts? Of course you dont! It sounds like someone's has jumped on the band wagon and dosen't like the ossociation of E-cigs which is a shame? Because there are definately more beneficial positives to come from E-cigs in society then there are negatives one's, I urge you to push this in the right direction for all vapers Cool
(I really hope that we dont have any of these major problems in the uk)

Anyway, I thought the exploding one was down to some dodgy DIY modification to battery?

+1 JonS
+1 Maia

@Maia:  You are correct the fellow put a unprotected battery from RadioShack in his mod .. (bad idea) and it didn't work out too well for him.

@JonS I would say you have a valid point or perhaps this guy has gotten a large contribution from big tobacco lately.. Wink

If you read the legislation it leaves a gaping hole that NY vapers can exploit in order to continue vaping but I won't point it out here unless NY State Senator Hannon is smarter than I expect.

I just had a long chat with sen  Hannons office, told them about all the good e cigs do, how many people they have helped. also told them that they would be putting a lot of ny ers out of work, and they will be closing a store in their own district . They didn't like that at all.
Sen Hannon will be calling me fri , so we will see what he says.
I have a bit of a mouth on me, I asked if the sen was backed by big tobacco or big pharma , she was stunned I asked, but she knew how mad I was. I am a voter in his district so he may listen to me. I guess we will wait and see. If he calls I will give you a update.
If anyone else wants to call the # for his office is 516 739 1700

good work on all this guys and girls. think this is quite shocking that with two very small selective bits of data are being used as a rationale to ban something without further evidence from a more recent study. Hopefully if anything it will result in this and finally put to rest this ridiculous debate

They passed a Bill today, but it was not the one to ban all e cigs, just sales to minors , that's fine with me.
They said no bill would come up for a vote, they lied , but it's ok because they left us alone.
Thanks for all the vaping worlds support on this matter, I think it was our voices that made the difference.

good stuff. Its just stating the obvious to say sales to minors would be illegal however it obviously has to be written in law. Fantastic news that they have left us alone for now anyway good work every one  Wink
