Ok we all know the dangers of passive smoke, but what part of it is dangerous for others? Is it the Nic or what?
Basically me and the misuses are expecting our first child (hurrah) and Ive been thinking about vaping in the house and the side effects on her. I never used to smoked analogues in the house, but  I do vape just tend not to around her. When she goes to bed...well that's a different story!! Lol

I'm concerned that nicotine could be bad for her and the bambino and I don't want that. I understand none of us are doctors etc or no studies have been carried out so we can't for sure, just wanted your opinions. The simple answer is just to go out side!

My friend at work is the same as you, he wont vape around his 1 year old girl just incase there is a chance that it could harm her.

Congrats on the baby, Chris  Smiley
I'm not aware of any studies on the presence of nicotine in exhaled vapour, but I would imagine it to be a miniscule amount since the greatest part is absorbed by the oral mucosa (in your mouth) before it even travels to your lungs. What you exhale quickly disperses into the atmosphere.
Whilst nicotine is addictive, it is not the harmful element in cigarette smoke. There is no combustion with vaping, therefore no smoke produced.
If you have any concerns of course you can simply not vape in the same room...
It's just my opinion of course, but everybody should be fine if you go and sit on the naughty step to vape  Huh

I vape around my pregnant wife. Neither she or I are worried about it.  Some folks may think that is irresponsible, but hey...we all have our opinions.

I had my child about 3 months ago. I quit a few months before that and started vaping. Altho I do vape near my 3 month old son I can tell you I still blow it in the other direction. There is NO harmful smoke but I still don't like him in a cloud since nic is a drug. We DO ALL vape in the house, any smoke outside! High nic content and hold it in. After the baby is in bed in another room it's time to get wicked!

I think the general opinion is that secondary smoke (nicotine inhalation through breathing in someone else's smoke) is at a minimum with vaping, (yes I know it's vapour and not smoke but you know what I mean).  However the vapour is not 100% free of nicotine so it's up to you.

Congrats on the baba! I vape around mine and have never worried about it.
When I was on analogues I wouldn't dare around them.

I vape in the pub and have been waiting for a parent to ask me not to do it near their child.  There are arguments about people choosing to expose their children to pubs but that's another thing.

There is a quite legitimate objection to vaping in front of young children.  When I was growing up, smoking was all around and was quite normal.  That's one reason it was so easy to start.  Many people do avoid smoking in front of children, not just becuase of passive dangers but to avoid being a bad role model,

I can't really expect a growing child to appreciate the distinction if I'm vaping.  I avoid it and vape discretely if kids are around (unless there are smokers anyway).

I have accidentally exhaled vapor on my dog and cat...they definitely didn't like it (acted like I blew poison on them lol), so there's something in that exhaled vapor.  Hopefully the FDA will figure out what is in the vapor when inhaled/exhaled and then let us know  Wink

Not sure that can be proven by just exhaling at your pet.....maybe they just dont like getting vapor blown at 'em....just my opinion Smiley

lol, I said exhaled on them not around them - right in the face...my dog and cat.  In my opinion they smelled something in the vapor they didn't like, so it's not just "steam" as some have suggested.  Standard disclaimers apply  Grin   YMMV FWIW HAHA etc.  Wink

Lol, the funny thing is, you blow in a dogs face and he gets peed off (or even direct an electric fan towards his face), but he'll quite happily stick his head out the car window when your going full speed down a motorway Grin

I think you are right not to. Nobody knows if there are any risks or not. I doubt passive vaping is of any benefit to mum or baby so not worth chancing IF there is any harm.

Congrats to you!

Congrats from me too!  Cool

My daughter is only 15 months old and tbh I do sometimes vape in the same room as her, just not in front of her. I personally don't think there's much to worry about, (especially compared to the atmosphere in the house when I was a kid,) but I don't want her to see me vaping tbh, and think its something she should be copying.  Its more of a role model thing than a health concern for me.  Wink

Same here. They hate smoke but the vapor they actually sniff and stand there as if they were smiling at me. Telling me I'm a good boy Smiley

I vape around my two year old son and I'm not that worried about it it's not like I blow it in his face he just copies me and blows out air. I figure it's better than smoking the other stuff.(I didn't smoke in the house) but when I was growing up my ENTIRE family smoked...and in the house..And "there was nothing wrong with it" but nowadays non-smokers look down upon it.. That said I can't see it being worse than Ciggys..
