New to vaping and annoyed with prying those pesky caps of the carts for my ego-c, I decided to try the refill kit.

I filled up the little plastic bottle with almost 10 ml of E-liquid. Quite proud of myself, I start filing carts.

Unknown to me, there is only a small amount of pressure you can squeeze before THE TOP BLOWS OFF AND YOU GET A ML OF E-LIQUID IN YOUR EYEBALL and all over your house and you RUN SCREAMING to the sink to rinse it out.

I think I will live as its been 20 minutes and I'm still here. But I remain paranoid my eye will fall out, I will be slowly overdosed, and I'm out about 8 ML of e-juice.

A bit irritated. TW, can you include some warning or instructions for first timers like me who purchase your refill kit? Really though.
Seriously....I had no idea that could happen and I'm not too happy about my eye right now. I didn't think I was squeezing the bottle all that hard either.  The thing was more then half full. It should not have popped off that easy.

Eye Feels dry..........I'm pretty paraniod   Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

Oh no.. Poor Rabbit!  Shocked

Well.. Hopefully you'll be just fine. I have also suffered the agony of juice in the eye during my time. Whilst it stung like a buttered burn.. After a quick wash out, it appeared to be fine and I don't think any long term damage was done.
Of course, you should keep 'an eye on it'  Undecided lol.. Excuse the pun.. As some maybe more sensitive than others. if you've some eye drops lying around.. That'd probably help with the dryness too.. The PG/VG is probably messing with the fluid balance in your eye a bit.. hence the dryness.

I also had problems with the big refill bottle. Though mine was general leaking as the cap doesn't screw on very well. Luckily I only risked about 3ml of juice in mine as I thought it looked a bit dodgy! I personally prefer the Syringe that comes in the deluxe kit. I use that the whole time now. Whilst its mainly to help fill Clearomisers.. It also is useful for DCT's..I just inject liquid straight into the Cartos wadding.  Smiley

Anyway.. Hope your eye feels better soon.  Wink

thanks...your humor and calm demeanor is helping the inner panic im feeling.......perhaps ill live after all lol

the whole goal of this kit was to help keep the juice off my skin to begin with...
i think i'll stick with prying the darn caps off after today.

i feel like i cant vape the rest of the evening.....perhaps my eye took in my nicotine allotment for the day.  Sad

Well.. It's always quite worrying the first time something like that happens. I remember the first time I got it on my skin, I flapped a bit as I just wasnt sure what would happen..  Huh Nothing as it turned out. I then got some in my mouth and finally another time, in the eye!.. But.. I'm still here.. Still talking rubbish!  Wink
Still, definitely something to be avoided where possible. I guess you could always where some cheap disposable gloves if you're really concerned? But like I said.. A syringe, whilst best not whipped out in public, is definitely a useful tool.. (I got caught filling a carto with mine once.. Geez.. They were on the Phone to Dr Phil before I even had a chance to explain!)  Shocked

If its still giving you problems tomorrow.. Then you'll have to consider some expert advice but i didnt have a problem fortunately, so hopefully it should be fine.  Smiley

Cheers.

wow john really?? a shower curtain? ???haha.

theres gotta be a better way...im thinking ordering prefilled carts may be worth it. refilling is the only downer to vaping......

i love the ego c but thinking another product that requires less cart changing and filling is worth looking into. bummer one ego c cart only holds 1ml. i hate the constant changing up. any suggestions with that in mind, id love to hear.

i don't mind e-juicing myself....but had someone else or a kid been in the room with me,well.... it would not have been cool at all. Sad

you should try the ce3 smokymizers.  i have gone through at  least 50 of them. currently they are my favorite method of vaping.

Hi Rabbit - Here is the link
http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.com/products/cartomizer-systems/ce3-smokymizer/510-ce3-xl-smokymizer-ultimate-24-27ohm-2-product.html
I love them!!!  Once in awhile you can have a problem with them leaking  but its a great vape and they are cheap!!!
After I fill them I rub them (battery end) on my hand to make sure they are not leaking before putting the battery on.

I thought it was only vodka you were supposed to take like this Tongue

On a serious note, I hope you're feeling better now. I can only imagine how much that must have hurt Sad

We should all learn a lesson from this, I for one am a little complacent with my liquid these days but this makes me realise I should be more careful.

Rabbit, so sorry to hear about your eye and do hope it is better.

I know you've posted before about having problems taking the lids off of the carts.   Are you now using the softer, silicone caps (not the ones that came with the kit)?   Whichever you are using, If you place a napkin or papertowel over the cap and then try to remove it, it will work so much better.   Personally, I use an old undershirt of the hubby's.   I cut it up into smaller pieces and use that to also clean my devices.

You could buy one of the new DCTs (dual coil tanks) and they hold either 3.5ml or 6ml.   I've not used them, so I don't really have any knowledge about them; however, there are numerous threads here on the forum about them.

I did the same thing in January.
I had to throw a bowl full of washing up out of the way, but result, I broke a lot of cups and didn't have to wash them Grin
-I now always remove the caps for filling

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, Rabidrabbit... Besides using a syringe, you can buy squeeze bottles in various sizes with a screw on needle cap quite cheaply from various places. I don't believe TW sells them (yet). The cap won't pop off when squeezing, and they're the best thing I've found for filling clearomizers and tanks, rather than faffing about trying to get the caps off them.

Actually.. I just remembered that I meant to ask in my post, whether you had switched to the Silicone caps? I see good old Lettie has mentioned it above. I think that is definitely a good option for you Rabbit? They are SO much easier to get on and off!

I only use those, haven't used the hard plastic ones since the Silicone caps came out. Plus you can buy a pack of them (just the caps) for dirt cheap? Just an idea worth exploring if you've not yet done so!  Smiley

While this has never happened to me I will now add this to situations I must avoid.
So far the only issue like this I've had is accidentally sucking pure juice through a tank into my mouth.
An immediate spit (into a tissue) and a long tooth brushing session later I was fine but concerned.

When I started vaping I also started mixing right away. I had some green concentrate and squeezed it to hard trying to squeez drops into another bottle filled with nicotine. Well it was a violent explosion of nic when the green cow popped open and all went flying into my small measuring cup at the speed of light. Right into the eyes! Needless to say I'm much more careful with these bottles now.
Glad your ok and vape on!

ahahaha brilliant, Im only laughing because not only an hour ago did i re fill a tank, not wash my hands and then rubbed my eye  Shocked lol.

believe it or not this is not the most painful nicotine experience i have had. I once used an nrt nicotine spray and you had to press it a few times to get the spray to come through.

This one was not for having it, Just as i turn it round to look at it, it decided to shoot out a burst of mist right in my eyes.

I was in SOOO much pain but my nicotine levels were good. lol

In total iv had nicotine to the eye about 4 times, I should really learn to be more careful but im fine and still got my 20/20 vision thankfully but stings like hell.

You will be fine tomorrow so dont worry.

Maybe that should be the vapers Moto;

I USED TO BE A VAPER LIKE YOU, THEN I TOOK NICOTINE TO THE EYE!

Well, my eye is still intact today. So still good there - thanks for all the concern! haha.

Appreciate the links to other models, I will check them out.

I DO like the soft caps and did order them. They do work great. I just still have a million plastic caps to pull off to do the switch (which I will do tonight!)

My issue is I have kids and really don't want to have this stuff on my hands and refill at all. So while I will replace the with soft caps for now, I am going to consider other models that you all suggested that require less filling.

Thanks for all the great responses.

I know a small fraction of your pain. I was taking a cap off one of my cartridges and it went flying in one direction while the cap went another spraying me liberally with droplets. One of them a managed to totally miss my glasses and go right in my eye. Wow did that sting, and that was a minuscule amount.. I didn't panic too much cause I figure I've built up a pretty hefty tolerance by now.

I'm intrigued with the idea of the 6 ml DCTs.  I spend most of my day in my car, and it's a right pain changing cartridges at 60 miles an hour on a curvy road. Anyone know how well they stand to being knocked around in a car? I'm constantly setting my eGo down in the little compartment under my radio or on the passenger seat so I'm a bit concerned about leakage.

They are really resilient. The plastic is pretty hard but has a little give to it so its not brittle.
As for the metal top and bottom they are really on there so won't go anywhere and the liquid doesn't leak out these things.

I normally carry mine in my pocket or same as you in my car and not had any problems at all.

is there A video link that explains all the working parts of the DCT's?
They seem quite a bit differently built then the Ego-C, so not sure I "get it".
Seems like the various pieces are sold separet from each other.

(hummmm....can't seem to spell that right duhhhhhhhh, been a long day.lol)

A lot of the items on the TW site have videos -- just look down a bit on the page of the item or device.   For the DCT, here is the link for the product.   Just click on the video.

Lol have to say done the same myself had a bad cold and was mixing up something to vape that would go easy on
My chest.  Anyway my eyes where itching and without thinking I rubbed my eyes.  After that brief second my eyes burned hotter than the fires of Mordor flapping around I made it to the bathroom to wash out my eyes.  Only thing worse I've had in my eye was bleach back in the days I work for one of the local McDonald's restaurants.  And I still have perfect vision somehow.... Filled a big sink of water and dunked my entire head into it walking out of the back room I had a kitchen full of 20 lads laughing in hysterics at me.

Also I might have a solution for u in regards to cart filling Problems.  First get the little 1 mil needle from the shop and a
Hard plastic glasses case costs a couple quid tops. Fill 5 or so carts on a night time when kids are asleep problem solved u can. Carry them round with u and change out as needed.  Just make sure to have the condoms on them so they don't leek all over the inside Wink

Yup, I think I'm getting used to the cartridges and the soft tops and just refilling a bunch for the week as you say. Wink

I still have some minor ego-c leakage problems around the joints at times but since I switched to the soft caps it seems to happen a lot less........

And the plus side of getting e-juice in your eye is I don't worry it can kill me or make me go blind. Just kinda dried my eyeball out for a couple hours lol. Tongue

good to know right?
