why is the todmuller.com/ calculator give such different ratio of drops to make liquid to the instructions that come with platinum ice Huh?

That calculator uses 20 drops per milliliter.  The drops per milliliter can actually vary quite a bit depending on the dropper you are using and viscosity of the liquid.  The PI kit instructions are proably using a better estimation of drops per ml using the particular droppers and liquids that come in the kit.  Also, the flavor percentage in the PI kit is pretty high.  Personally, I use 10 to 15% on the DV flavors.  The PI instructions are close to 25%.  Generally, it's a lot more accurate to use a syringe or graduated pipette and mix in ml.
