Mine was working great till around 8 weeks then I started getting the burnt taste and burning in my throat. It kept getting worse for the past 2 weeks so I took a thin blade xacto knife and ran it down the short side of the spike then pressed the wick back against the long side of the spike and pulled it up just a bit. Now the burnt taste is gone and it is vaping better. I think the wick is getting clogged up and not letting enough e-liquid into the coil.
10 days ago I did the above, as a result there was no more burned taste but it seems I'm not getting the flavor as much. The other draw back was that I now have a bit of leakage into the battery connection. Vapor production is still pretty good but I seem to need an eliquid has a little stronger flavor. Week 9 on the same atty.

Well....
Wondering what to do next.....
Am on atty no.3 from my original kit....so have the one I am using and 2 spares.....overall I am happy with the performance so far....but....what to do when I want to order spares, which will be soon... try another product, like the DCT ?
Take a gamble and spend £20 on something that may not work or need altering as I have been reading from the previous posts ?
Are people who are having issues with lots of attys getting free replacements and if so are these working ?
It just seems so obvious to me that the originals were produced under strick quality control....then when demand picked up and in turn production pick up....quality went out the window......
"Team work, figure out some problems" .... as the title says.....but is eveyone happy to spend their hard earned doing this ?
Seems a shame as when this product is working its great.......but I for one would not be happy using my money to fault find a product...I know what my customers would say if I suggested this to them....

Tim I'm not buying any more at the moment, I have 3 in my stash that TW kindly gave me to replace the 3 I tested to destruction, but I can't even bring myself to use them as yet; they might be good, but the name Ego-C just makes me shudder right at the minute; I've been vaping only for 4 months and the last few weeks has had me close to throwing it all in, I'm just a stubborn cow that doesn't know when to quit. BUT lots of people are rating them highly so perhaps I am an exception rather than a rule. Lots of folks decide certain devices aren't for them, so don't necessarily be put off by what you have read here.

Hi Tara
It's just a bit disappointing.....thought that the C was the ultimate vape....and have been recommending to everyone I know....but can't at the moment due to issues with these....and it does seem to me to be quality control.....
I am happy at the moment but wondering what to do when these attys run out.....may try a DCT, but yet more expense when it should not been needed.....I will try another strip of C attys soon and see what happens...
Fingers crossed this issue gets sorted out...but not at customers expense...

Well, I can only say that the "C" has been the best PV I've ever used, but I'll change my tune if I ever start having all the problems that cy and Tara (and some of the other forum members) are having. But until then, I'll continue to order more atty strips as needed (and as long as mine are lasting, that won't be for a while yet).

Hi,
I've not been around much this week so quickly read through this thread.
I sent my atties back to TW nearly two weeks ago and today called in to see how things were going with them, they had not arrived which is why I hadn't heard anything back from CS. I stupidly didn't send them recorded as I didn't think to ask the person who took them down to the post office. So, I'm afraid mine won't be tested unless they turn up soon. TW are sending some out to me and I'm really hoping that these are as good as the first.
I swapped juice for a C atty on Tuesday and have been using it continuously since, it has been perfect, I have only had VG and PR Orange through it and I daren't swap flavours. I did test out positioning the vents etc but didn't notice any difference.
Tara, like you I want the C for travelling so that the overall kit needed is small and light. I reallly need the C to work. I'm liking the DCTs a lot but prefer the look of the C, I'm also finding that the DCTs require several battery changes per day.
So far my current atty has had 9 ml through it with no leaks, burnt tastes, wicking issues or tight draws. I'm monitoring it and blowing it out nightly etc. I'm really hoping our bad experiences were down to a bad batch.
Let's hope Joye can rectify it.
Victoria.

I think it would be interesting if someone took the time to go over posts on the ego c and let us know:: how many positive comments were given vs how many negative comments were given. Is it 50/50? 80/20? 70/30? It seems to me that this would be a pretty simple way of taking these comments which in turn would show what percentage of the new product works. I'm not talking about reviews but comments. What do you think?

I don't think it would yield a valid result as far as the percentage of "C" users who are experiencing problems. Everyone is quick to post when they're having problems, but most don't bother when things are going well. I'd venture to say that there are probably a lot of happy "C" users that aren't even forum members, since you're more likely to end up here if you're having problems.

The other thing that clouds matters in terms of working out % - is down to the unpredictability of each Attie. I know a lot of people have been talking in terms of strips.. But I have had issues and variations all from the SAME strip? The first two atties lasted a month and were excellent!. During this time, I posted a glowing review of the C. Then I got to Attie number 3.. Oh dear.. It was terrible and never got better. I now have a 4th one in which is average at best. Its giving mega TH but Hardly any vapour? The result being that my Ego C is on the shelf (still using the batts though) I'm just too in love with both my DCT's and CE2 clearos, (I've just bought another 5 of each) to be bothered to try and resolve it? I guess I'm fortunate that I needed the new batteries anyway, which has helped to offset the cost. My opinion at the moment, is that my last unused C Attie, will join my handful of 3 510's and 901's in the emergency box! You can only give comments as you find at the time though? Like others have said.. When it works as intended.. I still say that it'd be the best overall PV available..imo. The fact that mine has been so unpredictable though, means that i can't give it that title at this moment in its life cycle. Though the 5th Attie might be amazing? No device has ever been 100% for me anyway. I'm sure at some point, I will run into an issue with the DCT and will fire it up again and then.. Who knows?

I will try and go against the grain here... Most people do only post when they have problems. However, thanks to this forum, I have started lining up the channels on the side of the tank to "vents" on the atomizer head. Best vaping device I have in my arsenal with the exception of a DD setup. (and believe me I buy and try every new slick and shinny thing I see) No more leaking, gurgling, or flooding. I have tried a few atty heads (purchased at different times) using this technique and the results are perfect every time. (your milage may vary) But I digress: This forum / community is really what makes TW what it is. If not for the community here I wouldn't have solved my C problems. I would never have easily dismissed the product as flawed and moved on never knowing what a great vape I was missing. (statistically: most people who are dissatisfied never complain... they just go somewhere else.) So, thanks to all of you for your critisisms, shared experiences, suggestions, and willingnesses to experiment and report your findings. It is easy to see that this industry, including TW, need people like you. This community must help sell products better than any marketing campaign an ivy league MBA could come up with. (Oxford MBA for you Brits)

I agree with what has been said earlier...... Being able to comment about a product, good or bad is what makes TW a good company....
Though I have to say that I feel people don post when they are happy....there are lots of good reviews regarding the C.....
I just don't see much regarding what is being done to sort out these issues...and the attys are still on sale with no hint there could be issues....?
I suppose I am just more disappointed that anything else....the C when up and running is fantastic....two attys have lasted me since before Christmas, and I killed one of them myself......this proves it is a great product when manufactured right.....and poor manufacture must be the issue.....
Anyway...fingers crossed it will all turn out good in the end....

I agree that this forum is one of the most helpful I have ever been on. Its nice to see all the comments good and bad. It really helps me make my choice as what to buy and try. It does however seem as though the forum gets clogged up and off track at times. What was the original request of the person who started this thread? Sometimes I think people lose sight of that and just post to the last thing that is posted instead of reading the start. But oh well, gives us all something to do. I can see how it can get confusing for the newbies. I will however try the ego c when the kinks are worked out of it so I will keep reading this thread to get some good info.

I'm an avid reader of this forum; and yes I believe there have been some real issues with some of the strips of atomizers for the ego-c, but I don't think that should defer you from getting one. If you happen to get a bad batch, as long as you don't try to "fix" them, customer service will send you new ones. I got my ego-c in January and since then got another strip of attys. Because of the 28-day warranty, I alternated the attys on both of my Cs for about a week to make sure there were no immediate problems with them; and so far no problems! The ego-c is a great piece of equipment! IMHO, I think peeps have had more problems with the DCT than the ego-c!

Well said, Lettie I agree that the eGo-C is a great piece of equipment and I wouldn't want to be without mine now. Even if your -C atties last only 1-2 weeks apiece instead of the 10 weeks + that they sometimes last, it's still a cheaper option than....(oh hang on, I'll just censor myself)...<censored>...but I'm sure I'm repeating myself...or is there an echo in here? So, whilst we're awaiting an answer from Pillbox or Joyetech or Customer Services over the coming weeks, I'm sure we can entertain ourselves... ah, go on, Cyborg is right and resistance is indeed futile... here we go...

First sorry for the long post in advance because I will no doubt waffle as usual So to start off Im actually surprised there is such a debate about the C attys as it is a simple piece of kit. I'l give my two pence worth and hopefully some of you can chime in with thoughts, This is the C atty taken apart. Now you can see how simple this thing is, like most attys. So il break it down to parts and my thoughts. 1) The Tank: The tank is a nice simple idea that works however the flaw in this is the cap. It is hard plastic and when the hole is punched with the spike it pops out the round hole etched into the plastic. This however leaves a slight gap, Very small but enough for liquid to leak out, between the plastic hole and the spike. When you inhale on the tank some goes to the wick some goes down the side. Now it should drain into the attys reservoir but if you dont hold the C vertically its going to run back up the cone. 2) The Wick: The wick is of very small length and held in the spike with a mesh metal wrapped around the wick then pushed into the spike. For me the wick is too thick and not splayed enough at the end. When I pulled out the wick a bit and splayed it a bit more it gave more surface area and vaped quite nicely. OR If I brought the wick up through the spike a bit more toward the tank That also worked. Obviously the wick not touching the coil stopped it burning and it drew more liquid from the tank which then dripped onto the coil. however this kind of defeats the purpose of the atty since the coil is wrapped around its own wicking material. 3) The Coil: The coil is the source of all my frustration on these types of atty. They start off nice and clean but very quickly char themselves which leaves a black charred layer of eliquid over them. Once this has happened from my experience its very very difficult to remove the burnt taste. Mainly because when its clean any liquid that comes in contact with it vapes cleanly. Once charred any eliquid that touches it becomes tainted with the burnt flavour. Its a bit like burning your frying pan then trying to make pancakes they just wont taste right. The coil also has its own wicking material which the coil is wrapped around. 4) The Reservoir: The reservoir is the cup that you see under the coil in my picture. This is for any excess eliquid that comes through the wick. It drips into this cup and is held there soaked up by the wicking material that the coil is wrapped around. Now you can see under the coil there is a bit that is raised. This is the air intake hole so really its hard to get e liquid to leak from these attys this way if they are held vertically as the reservoir holds a fair few full drops of eliquid. But when the Ego is tilted it can certainly get through the hole and leak. Plus if its in your pocket the heat from your body will inevitably make the liquid less viscous meaning its easier to run through from the tank through the wick and flood the atty. 5) Flooding: Flooding the atty is not always a bad thing. Much like cartos I have found these attys do not like to be too dry. Like I mentioned earlier If it gets too dry it will char the coil and it will forever have a burnt taste as soon as its not soaked in eliquid. So keeping just the right amount of eliquid on the wick plus reservoir means less chance of this running dry. I think if the wick was thinned and better splayed when assembled it would make a difference. Would also reduce the need for trying to keep liquid flowing through it especially for those that like high VG liquids. As for leaking I think a new cap for the tank would be a start as the silicone ones work OK but its not the final solution. I would actually like to see a fitting like a push lock system, Kinda like those found on HoseLock stuff for those in the UK, those not its a push fitting for your garden hose. Push the tank on with this type of fitting which is fitted with a rubber O ring, Leaking Stopped. Anyway I hope some of what i have rambled about makes sense and as always feedback is welcome, without it we couldnt grow as a forum

Using Tara’s tip
( Ensuring the "vents" on the atty aligned with the intake slots on the tank )
The C attys with a burnt taste that I had put to one side & not in the bin are now working flawlessly. I am not using them on a Tornado battery as I hate having to line everything up again when I change the battery. Using this technique on an SD or other mod with a bottom button works brilliantly ( only have to ensure the Tank lines up). I am now seriously considering buying them again, something that was not an option before I used the line things up tip.

So you do you think its purely an over heating issue with limited air intake if the slots don't align causing the coil to char? Like iv mentioned before i think any burnt taste comes from a burnt coil.

I certainly looks as if it is something to do with air flow. I don’t use T Tanks but if anyone is having problems with them ( burnt wick ) using the same technique could possibly help.

Lol I'm running one on my shiney new screwdriver at the minute using that technique and a half a tank in I've not had a single bad draw yet; I have to say that the taste is cold and pale in comparison to a LR Carto or DDing on a 901, but it's a clean flavour and the ability to use a tank system again when I'm out an about is worth it's weight in gold. I'm going to monitor how many ml goes thorugh the three remaining ones first though before I go ordering any more as I still think that if "tight" ones gunk up after only 10mls I need to consider if it is worth my while - hopefully they won't though with the increased airflow, and also with the SCrewdriver it seems like the mod sinks the heat better from the atty as well, which also might make a difference when I'm chaining it.

I've had my eGo-c a week and I have no complaints so far. I just swapped attys this morning, but that was because the one I have been using needed blown out and I'm all out of canned air. I have been taking care to make sure the logos are lined up with the button, and that really seems to help.

10 weeks on my first ego-c atty still getting good vapor and the last mod I did seems to have fixed the burnt taste, more fluid getting to the coil. Haven't put it on the VVV because the higher voltage drys out the atty too fast. Of course I could just set to 3.7 to 4.0.

Still on my first atty from the test kits and useing a booster the whole time. Clean coil again thanks to a dry burn. Wick isn't to bad thanks to a washing. Taste and vape are great still. Definitely my go-to device. 100% satisfied with it and they only get better
