Now that is a good question.
Two great devices.
The Screwdriver is a tried & tested work horse, no frills but simply works brilliantly.
The Torpedo with its electronics for the sweet spot on the voltage works brilliantly.

As a screwdriver user (ive never used the Torpedo though) i love it. The SD really performs well and never misses a beat, its battery life is brilliant and has a good consistent 3.7v output which is superb if you use the CE3s @ 2.4-2.7ohm Smiley

Cant fault it one bit, and really dont regret buying it, i will be getting a torpedo @ some point, only thing i dont like about it is the fact it looks cumbersome, big and clumsy, im sure it performs like a dream but im more interested in it looking flash and sleek LOL

Torpedo hands down, screwdriver is getting "old" school vaping, and the torpedo now rivals the more expensive P*ro**vari
I just ordered and I can't wait....trust me on this one. I will gladly gift you my screwdriver to prove it...

To me the fact that the Screwdriver is "old school" is a big plus.  I have a Screwdriver I am still using I bought in April 2009 - it has never let me down (and with adapters I can screw just about anything on it - I mainly use LR atties).  Whilst things like the Torpedo are very flexible and work well, nevertheless there is more to go wrong - if there are lots of three year old Torpedos around in a few years I'll eat my words.  My gut feeling is - if you haven't got an SD you should have one, but both would be better Smiley

I agree the SD is a real workhorse but since I got my Torpedo type device it hasn't had a look in!  Smiley

I also think the fact the Screwdriver is "old school" is a big plus.
Also if you haven't got an SD you should have one, but both is better  Wink
Definitely the SD if you intend using your ENI in harsh conditions.

To me the fact that the Screwdriver is "old school" is a big plus.

Never a true word typed.....   Smiley

Can't comment on the Torpedo as I've never used one but I can happily say that I've had my SD since July 2011 and I'd be totally lost without it now. I still use my old Tornado / 510 setup for when out and about (visits to Town, beer and curry sessions with friends etc etc) - along with my "very old" DSE901's.

The SD usually stays at home but will accompany me on trips to visit friends and family - where it can be safe. I'm also very satisfied with using 901 SR and LR atties and have no intention of fitting adaptors, cartomisers etc etc. Not saying that they wouldn't work OK but the 901's do the job for me. If it ain't broke.........

Guess that makes me "old school".......    Cheesy

Good luck on your choice.

I have both, and a couple of 6 volt mods (one with a tank).

The Torpedo is a great device, and being able to set a voltage and it just sits at that same voltage till the battery dies is great. It's like tornado voltage stability but with mod battery life.

it has a great button (I prefer side buttons) and it works great with a DCT (although less voltage range as teh DCT attys are 1.5 ohm)

Go with the torpedo! screwdriver is great, but its been around for a long time in the vaping world, myself and owning both I would say torpedo.
since the screw driver is limited as far as voltage changes, it is basic. Sometimes basic is good as advanced. you spend more on juice with torpedo cause of this
and hence perhaps more in atty's but the vaping experience is greater with the torpedo and less with the screwdriver.
So look at how far you want to go with your vaping experience! The torpedo takes you a little further and the screwdriver does a great job with the basics....in the longer run (in theory) should cost less to operate.
Good luck

im sitting here right now with a torpedo and a screwdriver sitting in my cart, waiting to delete and buy the other,,,,,,,i just dont know which i can choose. heres a run down,,

Torpedo looks big, im a girl. has a great warranty. has great batteries. variable,,,ill keep it at 3.7 honestly.

Screwdriver  looks smaller, not a whole lot to break, almost as great batteries....BUT TW is out of 901 to 510 adapters, and i dont care to spend 20 bucks when i was never really happen with the tank attys.

What I do like and what i am drawn to both of these devices is the fact that there isnt alot to break and when the batteries die, you just get a new one.

I recently lost four batteries due , well i THINK it was due to the smokeymisers. I have two tornado batts left. and a box mod i made.

im REALLY digging the warranty on the torpedo but it looks huge,,,,but it is a 510.

The Torpedo & Screwdriver in standard configuration

You say you don’t want to spend money on an adaptor for the SD but if you want to use Tanks on the Torpedo you must still have an adaptor either a 510 to 510 or a 510 to eGo. If you opt for the SD why not use the standard 901 atomisers.

Good picture! Hadn't realised exactly how much bigger than the SD the Torpedo was

This how I mix flavors!!!

« Reply #22 on: February 02, 2012, 02:32:32 AM »

As a newbie I have never used the SD but just got the Torpedo this week and it is not as big as you think.
I just got a tornado-t on the 19th of January and love it but wanted something bigger and better!!  lol
If I had the SD I would end up trying to vape off a real screw driver here in the dark. I really thought the torpedo was small when I unboxed it. Same length as a Tornado with a mega battery
I have only tried the supplied drip tip for now, I can't decide which flavor to put in my new DCT still playing with mixes.
Size didn't matter to me as I mainly got it for home use but now I think I want to show it off!!!  HehHheHeh

yes ever the wiser Prof beard!
and yes your correct it is the most reliable mod on the planet thats for sure!
i wan't saying to be negative, i just forgot the positives.
It does hit stronger than a tornado battery does for sure and its simplicity is always a plus.
Versatility is its brother for sure.
You can never go wrong with a screwdriver....

Good choice  Wink

Once you get it in your hand it is not really that big and for a 18650 mod it is surprisingly light  Smiley

Tornado Pass Through with long drip tip

« Reply #29 on: February 21, 2012, 06:41:55 PM »

WooHoo!! Tax returns are in and I've got my brand new Torpedo VVV! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
One happy vaper here! Love that it comes with a drip tip but, with an adapter (which we also bought) it can be used with a tank. So far, my voltage is set on 5 and, well, the vape is AWESOME!
Don't know if it was in the literature but my hubby tried it with a low res atty and it automatically reset itself to 3...I thought that was a wonderful idea!
What I really like too is that the "hit" doesn't fade as the battery gets drained. It maintains whatever it is set for until the battery actually dies.
Someone had their thinking cap on with this one. Wink Cheesy It is IMHO the best ecig yet! Grin
