Puffing, Not Panting...

« on: April 20, 2012, 10:44:25 PM »

Now in its third year, UK Vapefest, Europe's biggest and best vape event returns to the Haunted Moat House in Tamworth. Since attendence last year far exceeded our expectations, this year every inch of the Moat House and its sprawling grounds will be devoted to the festival.

I definitively want to be going to this with Larma Tongue - We come from the same place.  I think we should have a little forum meet up and group Vape Tongue - then we can put a face to the names we see here on the TW forums.   Grin

Why don't you try and get one organised in your area. After all everything starts with one person and an idea,  Cool

Hmm, I wonder how I could go about organizing one... I have no experience with that sort of thing really lol. I've worked at a few festivals for random stuff like security for a few and a model for a few others, but never organizing it. I would totally love to take on that challenge though!

I'm not able to make it to florida :-( We're trying to save money now to go back to NY to see family and friends and we'd be flying so sadly it would be a no-go :-(

Find a decent enough venue, start asking around different vendors if they would like to set up a stall, explain this is your first one, they have all had plenty of experience with this sort  of thing, ask other vapours that have been to one what were their experiences, what was missing if anything, advertise.
That's a good start for you, think about how many may turn up,will you need a refreshments stall? Toilets obviously, what time of year is it? How are people going to get there? Trains? Airports?
Cover all angles,kids? Animals?
Its a lot of planning and organisation, but you seen capable of that.
Good luck x

It's not as hard as you think. I have to organise events for work, the first one is always the hardest but once you start it's amazing how many people will pass one the word and people end up coming to you to see what you are about, and what you are organising. The hardest thing will be venue, not sure what it's like over in the states but over here some venues have to be booked months in advance, and when you don't know how many people will be attending or how many vendors it can be a bit hit and miss. You will also have to see what the venue charges for events, some venues over here can be free but they supply all the food and drink at exuberant mark up, or you might have to charge a small entrance fee to cover costs. Am sure if you put your mind to it you will do it.

Good luck

Some very good advice, thank you! I would most likely have to pay the initial fee for rental... and that would simply be a no go. Also advertising and what not would rack up the bill as well. It would be quite the challenge because we know no one out here and don't know the area at all, nor who to ask. There's this place called Cow Palace that seems to hold all sorts of events and judging by all the fliers stapled to lamp posts and the like (as well as their website) I guess it's a staple for events like tattoos, scrapbooking ect.  I guess Cow Palace is a big place, so I would probably want to start out small... I think that I could find a way to make it work but the initial investment would be the hardest part. Visiting NY to see family for the first time in over a year is our first priority that we've been saving for. But it would totally be a great idea to have an expo sort of thing... I would love to help people discover the world and culture of PV's/e-cigs, and maybe with educating others on it we can curtail certain assumptions and fight the stupid restrictions that are imposed simply because people fear/are uncomfortable with what they don't know or understand.

Just as a Heads up, we will not be attending Vapefest.

We will support as its an important event and Wayne and others have worked diligently to organise.

Last year was a great day and i am sure if you visit it, this years event will be equally as good.
