Hi, so who is allowed to vape at work and did you come across any resistance before your employer gave in?
I am a civil servant and have been told that because my titan 510 is perceived as a cigarette then as such may not be used on government premesis and i have to go out with all the smokers.
I understand this to a certain degree as we quite often have visitors to the control room during normal hours, but because I work shifts I dont see why it can't be allowed out of hours, weekends, nights etc.
How have people pursuaded their employers that it is actually a good thing producing more productive and healthier employees?
Does anyone have any good links that I could use to try and persuade the big cheese that this should be allowed at the very least in one designated spot inside the building.
Bec xx

the subject of vaping at work has come up many times. if they decide that you should not vape at work and you want to vape at work, there is only one solution..stealth vape. there are those who see vaping devices as electronic cigarettes which has the work 'cigarette' in it and therefore they see it as a form of cigarette. only we know better.

I stealth vape a lot at work...... open plan office but head down and have a crafty drag from time to time.... so far it has gone unnoticed. I do however still go outside for a full on vape when the mood takes me. Since giving up smoking I still miss the little break going for a smoke gave me so I pop outside with the other smokers. The amount of smokers that ask what the hell I'm 'smoking' is amazing...... I should get some sort of commission for pointing them towards Totally Wicked

Fortunately I can vape at work. About 15 people use tornado tanks in the factory, our Health and Safety office has checked it out and can find no reason not to. I work in the offices and vape all day.

I don't mind going outside and vaping with all the smokers. I usually end up chatting with people that I don't usually get a chance to talk to and i've actually managed to convert a few!
One suggestion for Totally Wicked : You should print up some "introduction cards" for us to hand out to potential customers, possibly include a few with orders, hand them out in the shops, etc. Maybe just a small business card type thing explaining what your products do, how to get started, where the shops are, a link to the website, etc. - this is mostly what a lot of my colleagues ask me about.

I've always vapid at work (and I've had at least three jobs over the past few months, a couple of which are shoulder to should with co-workers). As stated above, stealth vape. If you smoke outdoors during breaks with others, blow as much vapor as you can, then stealth vape at your work station. No one will have a clue, especially if you are vaping something that doesn't look anything like a real cigarette. My method of stealth vaping: exhale, inhale off your e-cig for a few seconds, hold your breath, then breathe out quickly (preferably through the nose). You should see no vapor whatsoever.
On one occasion, when a co-worker swore she saw me produce smoke, I demonstrated by putting my thumb in my mouth and blowing hard, like blowing up a balloon, and breathing out very slowly. This creates visible condensation and I explain that "this is what you must have seen; it's a trick I've taught my grandchildren."
People keep boasting, "They HAVE to let me vape (in a bar, on a plane, at work, etc.), because it isn't against the law. No, but it might be against company policy, and they have every right to set the rules. Don't flaunt it.

I think what I am going to do is put some basic information together about vaping and then make an appointment to go and see the boss. I am going to see if my union rep will come in with me too, not to stomp and say its my right but just to help me put my point across. They hadn't really heard about vaping untill I asked if I could do it in the building, and I think the reaction was a bit quick, maybe if they know a bit more about it they will reconsider.
At least if after they know the facts they still decide I have to go outside, I know they have made an informed decision and not a knee jerk one!!
Daren't stealth it at work due to the set up of where I work, plus although I have a great team, there are certain people from other teams that would delight in dropping me right in it if they saw me.
Our building is quite isolated and bloody cold and windy outside so I dont enjoy going out booooooo.

Working for TECC I would feel quite hard done too if I wasn't allowed to vape in the office, considering I have the task of testing any returns! Although taking my desk outside on sunny days wouldn't be so bad

i would do this back when i smoked and it only served to disgust me of my dirty habit then. to know that i was carrying around smoke in my lungs........ugh but i see that i can also do it with vaping. i think this is what you mean, right?

My manager doesn't want to ask (yes, he's a "manager" but in title only, he can't make any decisions, and is a bit scared to rock the boat at all).
Initially, he didn't care. Keep it on the down-low.
Someone noticed the vapors though after a few months, and said I should probably stop.
Small office with single-occupancy restrooms, so I can just take my Titan in there (its going to be 100F outside today not counting humidity, or I'd just stand outside for a few inhales).
I can see the argument...work is for work not enjoying some nicotine. Not to mention that residue from the vapor could fog computer screens or gum up components inside the tower.

Well, I work a few jobs and vape at all of them. Of course, I'm the boss at all of them so, I get to make all of the rules up as I go along. As Mel Brooks said in History of the World Part III "It's good to be the King!" I'm showing my age w/ that one!

I stealth vape at work, but funny thing is, I don't crave a hit like I used to when I smoked. There's this psychological thing going on, at least for me. When I know I can pull out my Tornado-C at any time and take a hit, then I don't really need to do it right then and there. In fact, two or three hours will go by before I even realize it's been that long since I snuck one in. On the other hand, once work is over, I can empty a 1.1 ml cartridge before I even get home once the day is over.

Same here! After work on the trip home I kill a tank but a full day at work sometimes I vape less than a tank. 8 hours at work less than a tank. 2-3 hour commute home and I vape the rest of that tank and another whole one.

I have no idea if Im supposed to vape at work or not, I have done and no one has said anything one way or the other to be fair, I could certainly stealth vape if I wanted but can't say Ive bothered, more often than not though I wander out to the smoking area and vape with the smokers it gets me out of the office, away from my desk, and it's amazing the info you get in idle chit chat you'd otherwise miss out on, an added plus is I get to spread the word

I vape at work and although people have been curious, nobody has asked me not to. Colleagues are very interested to know what it is all about and those who are the most anti-smokers think it is a great thing. I travelled in the car of a fierce anti-smoker recently and he was quite happy for me to vape in his car.

I vape at work, I haven't asked, but I don't hide it, then again I don't do it right in front of my boss. I'm sure they have seen me though. I figured if I don't ask they can't say no.

I'm not allowed to vape at work HR firmly said no when i asked. However they did not give me a proper reason for it
Anyway i don't mind as it still gets me away from the desk for 5 and get some fresh air, even when the weather is poor. I don't go beside the stinky's as i really cant stand the smell sticking to my clothes.
I think there is the social stigma of seeing a person exhale a smoke like substance indoors. It automatically has a negative effect. Most people are interested when you explain what it is, how it works and all the possibilities.
