I have gotten Glycerin USP and at the bottom it says skin protectant, I have read around and alot of people say it is the same thing. Do you guys have any say in this? here is the website of which said it was ok to use, which if it is, is it ok to use in a Tornado Tank?

Maybe someone a little more experienced will be able to give you more knowledge on this chemical.

Unless it specifically states it is NOT FOR INTERNAL USE or for TOPICAL USE ONLY (which usally means for use only on affected skin areas) then it should be safe to use. USP (United States Pharmacopeia) means it is is safe to use as directed on the bottle.

In the UK the BP (British Pharmacopoeia) has the same meaning but in the UK you can buy Glycerine BP specifically for the relief of sore throats, in which case it would be safe to use internally.

To be certain that what you buy is safe for internal use then you may be better to buy the Glycerin from a cake baking section in a supermarket, as this would be food safe.

I can't tell you whether it is safe or not.   I know Wal-Mart sells something in their "skin" department and that it has some additive of some sort.   I got mine at a health food store and it says "Vegetable glycerine 100% pure versatile skin care."   It states that VG is an "outstanding moisturizer and skin cleanser that also provides softening and lubricating benefits."   Then, most importantly, it also says "The vegetable glycerine contained in this product is considered food grade."   That last statement there is what prompted me to buy it!

Hope this helps!

I would like to say yes its safe. As long as there is only one ingredient. Astrecks is right its Bp in the uk and I use it all the time. Its used for sore throats and skin conditions but that's to name just a few uses. The food safe stuff is not always 100% glycerol therefore I use the pharmaceutical grade as it is. Mix it 85% vg - 15% distilled water = AG ready for mixing

Glycerin BP 100% £1.57 for 200ml at a local high street pharmacy.

Just bought it a couple of hours ago. As Astrecks says for the relief of sore throats and rough or chapped skin.
