Hey guys

Iv got a bunch of vg now with my new mixing kit. Ive read now that vg tends to not carry flavor as well as the pg, and I'm wondering where peg400 scores on the 'flavor carry.'

Thanks for the input.

hello 3DogNight, didn't mamma tell you not to come?  Huh
 Cool
LOL, couldn't resist, you dredged up an old memory there with your name.... thanks !  Cheesy
As for your question I'm sorry, I don't have any experience with PEG400,
but I don't think that the difference between PG and VG in carrying flavour has been established as a general rule of thumb for mixing;
whilst recently this was noted by a few forum members in a discussion     (and I'm not in the least denying their experience)    the whole area of taste is so subjective that I think it would be a mistake to take this as meaning that one carries flavour better than the other...it would depend on so many factors including the flavour concentrate used and whether it was an all PG or all VG mix or a combination of both, and your own taste receptors.
I believe that the concentrates are all flavonoids  in PG because that is the medium in which they can be most effectively dissolved. My reference for this statement came from  information which used to be available here on the forum; advice given by the producer of a range of e-liquids no longer available from TW.
My point being (sorry, I'm getting there!) that once you have a concentrate with the constituent flavouring dissolved in PG, it should then make no difference with what you dilute it for vaping, VG or PG, as the flavour depth has already been calibrated by the amount dissolved in the concentrated solution.
So how much flavour a mix will carry, whether PG or VG (and probably PEG too), will depend on the concentrate used and the percentage of same in your final mix.
Everybody's mileage will almost certainly vary...even from one mix to another !
If this made any sense to anyone, I'll look forward to the comments  Undecided
there's nothing like a debate, to fill in the space between Christmas and the new year...... Grin

Hey Puffer

Thanks for the response. I guess taste is really a subjective sense, isn't it? This post was inspired by another that I read where someone mentioned that PG carries flavor better. I'll just have to get some PG sometime and try in out....but I would love to glean some  information from any debate that might happen.

Now for the good part:
I sat in my living room one night with my new Tornado kit. I was happy trying out my premixes and whatnot, but I have three dogs. They were going CRAZY. The name was born. It's a shame, because while I do have a really cool vinyl collection, I don't have any Three Dog Night.....

Happy Vaping and a Happy New Year!

Hiya 3DN, and welcome to the forum (if I've neglected to do that elsewhere). Smiley  At least you have a vinyl collection.  Mine has long since gotten lost, stolen, borrowed (oh, I already covered that when I said stolen, didn't I) or left behind in one move or another.  I seem to recall having at least one of their albums, but I would bet on it.  My memory of anything past...... well, what I just ate an hour ago really, is not to be trusted.  And any recollection of the 60s, 70s, and even some of the 80s?  Well, I've been told I was there.... somewhere.  Ah, what was the question again??  Wait a minute, don't tell me.... I can do this.......... ummm... oh yes!  PG vs VG and flavor.  WOW!  I did it!  Righty then, all my mixes are all VG (disallowing the PG in the flavor concentrate, and any distilled water I may add to thin out the mix).  I don't notice that the flavor of my mix sufferers any for it.... Undecided  um, then again, I wouldn't would I... I mean, since I never use any PG anyway...  Well, I've postulated elsewhere on the forum that, if indeed there's any reduction of flavor when using VG, it might be down to the fact that VG will add some sweetness to your mix.  And maybe that might mask certain components of some flavors, thus resulting in the perception of a reduction in flavor.  But I like the sweetness of the VG, and I don't like throat hit, so if, as a result of using all VG mixes, I'm using a bit more flavor concentrate in my mixes..... well, I can live with that.  But I never know what I'm talking about anyway...... what was the question again? Huh Undecided  Happy Mixing, (and New Year too!).  Cheers! Smiley

Ha!

Right on. It sounds like we have the same taste in vape. Sweeter with less throat hit.

Just one more!  30's the magic number!  Once you get that "one more post" and have access to PM, just send a PM to one of the mods (caz or Darth) and ask them to set you up a chat account (the chat system requires a separate user account from the forum).  They'll be happy to do that for you, and will PM you back with your chat account particulars.  We'd love to see you in chat!  Bring any and all questions and we'll do our best to answer them, or just hang out and have some laughs.... or even just stop in to say "hi".  The more the merrier!.
