I was asked by a member from another forum if these pen-style lasers could be modded, being up for the challenge I ordered a few. So the answer is Yes, they can be modded. They take 2 10440's so I had to cut the shell down and re-install the insides to allow for 1 10440. I cut the top section off (where the pocket clip is crimped on to the shell)and drilled a new hole for the switch button this way I could keep the threaded end cap. You can get these off e-bay for $2.99 each shipped from USA or from numerous China suppliers for about the same price. The black one had a scratch on it so I modded a Blue one ( UK BLUE...Smiley)

Hey Guys,

Did a little mass production today and modded 5 more of these pen style laser pointers all with different attys and 1 with 2x10440's

I didn't like look of the atty connector pressed into the chrome trim ring so I recessed the atty connectors into the shell and drilled out the trim rings so the atty goes inside the ring not sitting on top of it, gives a nice recessed look and makes them a tad shorter also...Smiley

I also made a 901 with 2x10440's for higher voltage vaping. Both batteries are 3.6 volt x 2 ( my meter read 8.3v fully charged) so using ohms law and some math I installed a 1ohm 2watt resistor in the tube. It softens the blow from 2x3.6v batteries and knocks the amp draw down to 1.8 amps (Single 3.7v battery draws 1.2 amps) I didn't check the amps under load but its probably in the 1.4 to 1.6 range, maybe the sweet spot...Smiley

Cheers

It vapes just as good as any other single battery mod.
It doesnt have near the vape time between chargers as the larger battery mods.
But it will double or triple a reg e-cig battery and it is small and it has style....Smiley
I would have no problem using this in any public venue

I am not saying I am going to sell them, but if I did maybe $40 USD
If that sounds pricey you can mod one yourself for about $6 USD
Laser pointer and connector are about the only parts you will need
to do this mod

Very slick looking!

I think 40USD is a very fair price, and to the fact that your paying someone to make it for you makes it fair. People pay the people at Computer shops 50 dollars an hour. That may be easy work for the person making the cash, but your paying that person for their knowledge about what they are doing along with the work.

I agree Damulta--it's the knowlege and skill.  I couldn't mod my way out of abox most days.  There are tons of things we use each day that we could make ourselves for cheap, but we don't.  They really are sharp looking.

Hi.. just want to hear if you have had any problems with the push button. My button just kind of collapsed, and stopped working. I´m thinking that the button cant handle the amp draw.

Minus,  didn't anyone tell you that Google is your friend? Wink

I typed in 1 ohm 1 watt resistor, and the first hit I got looks promising: http://shop.vetcosurplus.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=8387

Hope this helps.

Excellent job...I've been lurking the mod forum for several months. I particularly like this as I have several of these lazer pens laying about.

Hehehe we just love being mobile huh. Why carry a desktop when you could just pull out your phone.  Tongue

I just ordered another laser from eBay $1.99 so I won't feel bad about ripping this one apart. Fun time.
