On the pass through with the inline battery, is it just wired to the battery box or are there some other components in there as well?

Pretty much it. Just let the baby charge a few hours before use. Smiley

There is a charging circuit in the passthrough which connects to the battery. The output is directly from the battery.
The charging circuit supplies up to 300mA to the battery depending on its state of charge.
The wire takes the output from the battery unit to the handheld section which contains the protection and switching circuitry.
I think a major improvement would be to have the battery in the handheld section which would avoid the voltage drop in the wiring.
