Hi all. Great forum. Great web site.

As per convention - here's my life story.

So. I was born at a very early age......

At 25 I started smoking. God knows why. I was a complete anti-smoker up until my twenties.

This year. after 20 odd years of smoking, I had my first taste of an ecig. I reacted to some email spam at the beginning of Jan 2012 (so spam does work!). It was a shot at the annual give-up-smoking-for-the-new-year ritual that most smokers consider at some time in life. I really wanted to quit smoking, but was under no illusions - I know I would never manage it with patches or cold christmas turkey - so I have never tried!

The product was £9.99 instead of £39.99. For that price is was worth a look and not too much to chuck in the bin if I didn't like 'em. Can't say the name obviously, but they came from the sk y and were the short, white, ciggie look-a-like type with carto's, a complete noob starter kit.

Jan 11th and the package arrived. I charged the pcc which came with the pack and fired up the first ecig I had ever smoked. To say I was impressed was an understatement. The cravings which normally decide when I light up had gone for a while. I left it half an hour until I felt the urge to smoke again and took out the cig look-a-likey. Again the craving and the urge to roll another fag subsided. This was like a eureka moment for me! Proof enough that this may be a viable alternative to tobacco.

I spent the next day on the interweb researching e-cigs. I probably wouldn't have done this if it wasn't for the initial success of my impulse buy. Of course, once I started looking around at the array of vaping material available, I was also hooked on the shiny thing syndrome. I also turned away from the supplier that first supplied me, only because I wanted to try other kit, although battery life on the originals was an annoyance.

I visited a lot of suppliers and forums over the next couple of days. With the information I had gathered I started filling shoping baskets with new kit, initally with another cheap 510 look a like carto starter kit - only with mega, manual batteries. And now I had discovered you can refill cartomizers - so I ordered some juice!

That kit was coming from an American supplier, so I did more research whilst awaiting it's arrival.

I was still smoking roll ups during the day at work, partly because I bought tobacco in bulk every time I, or someone I knew, was on holiday. And partly because I was still a bit self-concious about using ecigs in public, and the kit I had would never last a whole day without some charging going on. At night tho, It was vaping only.
I never smoked in the house at home and TBH, it was never really enjoyable smoking outside in winter, it was not a pleasure thing, it was a rush out - top up blood with nicotine - rush in. Vaping inside, watching TV, surfing the web rekindled a long gone pleasurable side to nicotine taking.

Still researching and reading reviews\watching youtube(Scott someone - great vids) I came to the conclusion that the ego-c was the dogs danglies - everyone was talking about it. About the same time, I had a call from someone off on holiday, asking if I would I like them to get a stash of tobaccco. I would normally jump at the chance and throw a £150 their way to get as much as possible. Saving a fortune amiright?  But I said no thanks. It suprised me as much as them! But all I could think of was how many shiny things I could get for the same money and how much longer they could last. So with the money saved, I ordered a ego-c kit, bigger battery, spare atty heads, tanks and caps from TECC. I also ordered some gourmet juice (RY4 & 666) from someone else and I had the American kit coming soon and all of that cost bit less than the tobacco I would have got from my friends holiday.

The tobacco I had left ran out a week later so I'd say since before the end of Jan I've become a full time vaper!  I use the kit from America at work, the bigger batteries last all day and vape the ego-c at night. I have to say that coming from a 510 look-a-like to an ego-c was a big leap in satisfaction, and I'd agree it is the dogs B's

Since then I have purchased a torpedo kit  from TW's during the yo-yo (£41) and some DCT's , CE2's and juice - It's all good! I have also made myself a usb pass thru out of an old printer cable and a toy laser pointer. Not only has vaping completley removed the need for unhealthy tobacco, but it's provided hours of fun and pleasure too.

To date, I've had a one ego c atty head die, and an atty from the topedo kit was DOA,  but I'm still using everything else I originaly bought. I've stocked up a bit on ejuice and still have lots of flavours to try. Moneywise. considering I would get thru the holiday tobacco in 5-6 weeks, I must be close to break even. I've also introduced two other smokers to vaping and got several others thinking.

I've still got a lot to learn about and more things to try yet, mixing, more mods, more PV's. But I am pleased to say I'm a vaper and am pleased to find I've replaced a very bad smelly (don't ya notice the smell?) habit with a very pleasurable hobby.

I look forward to lurking around here.

Steve.

Welcome to the best forum I've been to Steve, they are a friendly bunch here and will always be able to give you sound advice on  virtually anything Ecig related, there is always someone who knows the answer!
I myself got into this through spam and have been vaping 3 months now and it is great that I don't have to keep popping outside for a fag anymore.
I am currently using a screwdriver mkII with a clearomiser but will probably move on to the Cheesy ego c next as I have read some great reviews on it,and like everyone else i am seeking the perfect vape,im not sure it even exists,i think its like the holy grail, but even so we keep looking.
Enjoy the forum and don't forget someone will always find the answer if you ask.
Happy vaping.

Hey Steve welcome and I would like to start by saying a few things as I'm on a bit of a rant tonight so bare with me.

Firstly this is the best e cig website second to non. Jason aka pillbox38 is amazing and pops in and out the forum at times. He really has the company focused towards providing the best service and kit for customers and it really shines through.

Secondly this forum is full of the best bunch of people on the web. So helpful full of knowlage and just bend over backwards to help one another . Occasionally people will have a rant but we all get through it and I am so glad I am apart of this amazing community that spans the globe.

Thirdly if you need any help we will all be more than happy to help with anything you need except maybe that down payment on the range rover. We also have a Dr on board who works for tw and has his own section and although new has embraced the forum as much as we are working to help him in creating the finest eliquids which will be made fully in the uk something you can't get any where else. Also the patriot range is fully made in the USA so again a quality product .

Having been a long time vaper myself I would only recommend 2 things that I have found to exceed my expectation when trying things and think its something everyone should try.

First a passthrough battery . With these you never have to worry you can always charge it where there is a USB port and can be an essential back up just in case .

Secondly I know taste is a very personal thing and you will be told this repeatedly when choosing new flavours and I know this first hand as I have tried loads and loads only to find a few I like. One that was only recommended recently to me and I decided to take the plunge and order was Titan Menthol. I was never a menthol smoker but if I did have one it would be Berk menthol as they were so minty
If you like mint you will love this as it tastes so much like the analogues.

So with all that I would lastly just like to say I too like so many others have noticed some amazing changes since I found e-cig. Smell being a big one and how much anyone who does smoke, absolutely stinks of smoke.

I was in my friends house only for 10mins and when I got home I took off my jumper as it was covered in smoke. To my surprise my T shirt under my jumper also stank of smoke. I was so surprised then it hit me that I used to smell like that no non smokers.

Enlightening it was. Anyway glad your here and amazing story. Thank you

Steve101 -- what a great introduction!   So glad you decided to join "our" forum; and a warm welcome to you!  With all those devices you have and been using for months, we can't consider you a noob!

And Kenneth --  how nice of you to take the time to post such an awesome response.   Loved your comment about the Titan Menthol!     Roll Eyes   I didn't realize you did not originally use menthol.   Funny, the gal that introduced me to TW was a 3-pack-a-day non-menthol user.   She said that before she started vaping, she would never do menthol; but now that is all she vapes!

Hi there Steve Cheesy Once again Wink Might have welcomed you on another thread. Cheesy

Thanks for sharing your lifestory Cheesy

Loved the part where you wrote "I was born at a very early age" ... Cracked me up! Cheesy

I was a smoker for 10 years..
I started smoking when I was 15 years old, and soon after that, I got ill.. Not seriously ill, but I couldn't speak very well, I thought I was coughing my lungs up every time I coughed just a little bit, and after a week or so, I went to the doctor (at that time I was away on a gymnastics school, and they couldn't have me coughing up my lungs during shows Wink ).
The doctor told me, that I had a viral laryngitis. Therefor he couldn't give me medicin to make the damn thing go away. He asked me if I were a smoker, and I said yes. He then told me that if I carried on smoking while all this was happening, I would slowly be changing my voice, and I would have a greater possibility of having this damn thing again and again.
I promised that I wouldn't smoke while I was sick - I kept that promise, right up till the point when I was waiting for the bus to get back to the school... Then I lit up again Tongue
I didn't believe him, but I should have. Over the years I have suffered from this almost three times a year, and it lasts for a good months or so..
My voice will never be the same again, and I'm so sad about it. I know it's a small thing, but i loved my voice when I was younger. Now I just - along with everybody else - finds it a bit annoying.. Sad

Now that I have started vaping, I have noticed that when I sing (to my self, after checking that NOONE can hear me) that I can reach the higher notes. Not for long, but I can! Cheesy

And - once again - I have the viral laryngitis. But not as bad as before, and I don't feel as ill as I used to ! Cheesy

I started vaping a month ago, and I haven't looked back. I enjoy this way more than I ever enjoyed ciggies Smiley

Now you're not the only one to have shared some of your lifestory Wink

Happy vaping Cheesy
