I (as many or most Americans) grew up around weapons...no big deal. I was taught how to use a knife properly, a hammer properly, a sledgehammer and yard rake properly...a chainsaw properly etc. etc.

Everything I just described could be used improperly or with mal-intent. It's the person...not the inanimate object. Sorry if I offended anyone's sensibilities. Like I said, I didn't even think about it as that's where I put it at the end of every day! It's very commonplace over here in the states. Here in Florida, and 47 other States; on "average" 1 in every 4 people is carrying a firearm in a crowd. Over here, an gun possessed/carried by a law-abiding citizen is...just not a big deal!  I live in a decent area but I also live out in the woods and many a times the only help coming in an emergency is the help you provide for yourself!

Besides, the criminals don't care about a law anyways...they're criminals after all! I am not a felon and had a background check, had to show I knew how to use a firearm proficiently etc. before I got my license to conceal on my person.

I did intentionally put the nukey there as I said - a nod to the fine englishmen and their good beer making skills!

I apologies if you read any offense in my statements I was just trying to printout the differences between Britain and America when it comes to guns. I know that most Americans are very sensible with the guns, as I am sure you are. By the way I wish I kept my vaping kit as tidy as yours.

Again apologies, my posts were out of surprise at the culture difference, I have been to Saudi and should know better at questioning the cultures if others it is our differences that makes life interesting.

Hopefully you have found our culture difference interesting as well if not a little strange to you.

Oh no! Not at all Bro! We are totally cool so don't worry about it at all! I understand it's a bit of a "shock" to people who didn't grow up with 'em...no offense was taken at all. Not even for a minute!

Coming from Britain where even the police don't carry guns, that is scary and the blasey name of carry weapon scares most of us Brits to death.

+1 with that!
Can I ask why you carry a gun?

I carry a gun because a cop is just too damn heavy and leaves no room for my vaping supplies. Tongue

LMAO now there's a fine reply!

I apologize for the gun taking everything off track since this was about new folks saying hello and I was excited to show my new mix setup etc. etc. I realize the cultural difference and have no opinion on how other's societies manage themselves - as long as it's what the people want.

Over here, for our culture...the "American experience" it's an integral part of our culture, and in our Bill of Rights. Considering we are a country of 320 million people, we keep ourselves in check pretty well.

I sat and talked one night at the local bar with a Brit who was over here on vacation and he was amazed how you could have a gun, much less carry one. He about crapped himself when I invited him & his buddy to come to the range with me the next day for a good solid three hours of "lead slinging"!  Lol, he freaked out when I pulled 3 ak's, my M4 and 6 pistols outta the trunk of my car. I looked at him and said "You're gonna shoot at least 200 rds. out of each of these"....

I think when he got back home, Your National Health Service had to foot the bill to surgically remove the permanent smile from his face!   Tongue  He had a damn good time!

I remember last time I was in Mexico I met a Texan and she asked where I was from.

I said Scotland. She then proceeded to tell me that she was there last year, Dublin, I kept telling herr Dublin wasn't in scotland and I had never been to Ireland but it fell on deaf ears.

Actually it's the Dr.'s fault! They call it that and we don't know any better till we see the packaging, and then we just figure those letters must just be silent! Tongue

Read mother tongue by bill Bryson, an American by the way. It turns out you guys aren't wrong just when we separated,a lot of spellings weren't decided and we were affected more by the French than you guys.

I sometimes think if we used American spelling it would be a lot easier in schools here. Especially since all computers now correct to the American spelling.

Agreed but how do you change the settings for that on an iPad?Huh?

I am very computer literate by the way, well I should be I am an it contractor. But my skills lie mainly in coding rather than operating systems and word processors.
