Hi everyone Smiley
I'm ill at the moment - suffering with a chest infection Sad - so I thought now would be a good time to change over to vaping, I've been thinking of getting my daily dose of nicotine through e-cigs rather than the traditional way for a while now but recently I've been feeling sick after every cigarette I smoke, plus my boyfriend has quit smoking while out in Afghanistan. If he can do it under that much stress, I have no excuse!
I've actually had an e-cig since last December! Used it a few times, but never really took it seriously - now is the time to change! I wanna know how easy it is! I know when I replaced cigs for e-cigs it took away my biological cravings, but didn't satisfy my psychological cravings so I suppose I'm just gonna have to rely on my will power for that!
Has anyone else used e-cigs to get their nicotine rush? If so, howa you getting on?
xx

Hi Frann
welcome to the forum,
we do have to be careful how we phrase things as e-cigs are not a form of nicotine replacement, and cant be classed as a way to give up smoking (check forum rules Wink http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussions/legal-advisory-and-revised-terms-of-forum-use-21021/  )
Some of us just choose to get our daily dose of nicotine through e-cigs rather than the traditional way. Smiley

I bought my e-cig, tornado tank on the advice of a friend, when it arrived I never intended to give up smoking, just
see what it was like.
The following morning however, I didnt want a real ciggie! It tasted disgusting, and that was my transition period, 24 hours! lol
I never intended to switch to vaping, it just happened very naturally, and 12 months down the line, I love it!! Cheesy

Thank you, I hope I get on with it! Have you found that after a real ciggie the e-one makes you cough? I'm fine the next day tho... Hope I feel the same way as you did tomorrow morning!

Sometimes it makes me cough, but I think its a case of the PG in the fluid making my throat very dry, so make sure that you
drink plenty of fluids whilst vaping.  Wink

Suits me actually, tea in one hand, ego-c in the other!  Cheesy

Grata frann. It's a much nicer way of getting that nicotine. Very costomizable also. Welcome to the forum and good luck. If you need any advice just swing through and we'll be sure to help. Wink

If you just so happen to give up anologs at the same time as taking up vaping, you may notice some side effects of giving up smoking that you can easily and erroneously attribute to vaping.  You might want to check out the side effects associated with giving up smoking so you can identify them.  Coughing is definately one of the most noticeable side effects.

Congratulations,

I am happy to hear that you have made a healthier choice by switching to a smoking alternative.  It took me a bit to get into the vaping swing and I'm still not 100% over the analogues but I am happy in my choice to forgo them in favor of an e-cig and I hope you are too.

Enjoy,
Casey

Hello there

I gave up real cigarettes about 6 weeks ago now, just decided whislt on holdiay, and seeing some advertisements in the national newspapaers.  Since then have only had 2 real cigarettes and TBH did not like the taste at all, just shows you what you get used to I guess.

Started with the usual suspects of ecig and have now just purchased a Tornado eGo-c from Totally wicked.  I was a little sceptical at first, but it has just turned up, set up in minutes and the battery comes with some charge so you can try it straight away, must admit the size of the thing is not too big so is comfortable in the hand but is much bigger than a cigarette.  If you want something that looks and feels like what you are used to then search the web and you will find them.

I still have 20 cigarettes in the house but have not been tempted to touch them, just grab the ecig and have a vape, you will find though that you will probably vape more than you smoked but you shouldn't let this bother you as the harmful stuff is all misssing and your body will probably tell you when you are full!

So, good luck - I have converted two of my friends to this stuff and they have not looked back either.

I started out with Supermarket bought e-cigs, they are ok if u only curious/sceptical whatever. What i did was try TW products till i found the flavour i like whilst halving my cigarette intake at the same time.
Now have been Vaping propper for 4 months and only smoke if i am driving, tho always take my ego-c for long journeys and Vape when the roads are quiet. The thing with Vaping is that it does present u with a lot of choices that u do not have to consider with cigarettes. The challenge is worth it tho, keep posting and let us know how it goes.  Cool

Hi Fran

I can sympathise with your comment about satisfying your psychological cravings and the first week or two after dropping the poison sticks I was always a flick of a match away from falling back into old habits. Now as I near the 6 week mark if there's a choice between my old brand and my Tornado then the Tornado wins hands down

The thought of drawing on a real cig no longer holds any appeal for me and considering I have tried patches, gum, spray and inhalators in the past ( none of which did the trick for me)  I'm happier than a pig in the proverbial!

Give it a go and focus on the bigger picture, there are lots of flavours out there to choose from some of which will even satisfy that little devil whispering in your ear. I've just managed to brew up my first successful batch of juice (sweet nutachino!) what I enjoy most about it now is being able to vape while driving to work in the morning without even having to open the car windows (that's going to be even more satisfying in the winter months)  it's a half hour drive for me after which I float into work feeling the world is a better place!

Hi guys Smiley
Thanks for the support!
Found yesterday night pretty difficult as I work in a pub and smoking and pub go hand in hand! It was after the shift which I found hell as I'm used to rolling one as a 'reward' for finishing! The locals have been really supportive though and I've found out a few barmaids have started vaping as well. I've decided to avoided alcohol (and intend to do so for the next week or so) to add to my new healthy lifestyle  Undecided as the minute I have a drop of alcohol inside me I just wanna chain smoke! I'm also going over to my ex's house tonight, which will involve the pub and he also smokes in his house, so the smell may tempt me. However I love vaping so it'll be cool. I've moved from menthol (which I used to vape when I ran out of baccy!) to apple and I love it!
Not too sure about mixing yet, will need to do more research first I feel. I'm also getting over the psychological cravings by carrying round photos of smoking related things (like messed up lungs and teeth) and I hope it will work Smiley
Thanks again guys and happy vaping!!
xx

*It's so hard to write a post without other people misreading it as me replacing fags for e-cigs! I'm not. It just so happens that I'm vaping now, instead of smoking for the different flavours that normal fags can't provide*

Frann,

If you want to get into mixing your own definitely read through some of the old posts in the DIY section and ask a few questions. I know it can seem a bit intimidating at first but after that first few ml's of juice it's gets to be fun and exciting ..

Nothing wrong with saying that you've swapped tobacco for an e-nic device, nicer when you say you don't need to burn tobacco to get your nicotine, and the best when you can say you don't smoke combustible tobacco products anymore for the nicotine addiction!

Of course, a person can say they've 'given up smoking' whilst chewing on a piece of nicotine gum... then say they've 'started again' a couple of months later... hehe...  Nevertheless they had most certainly given up smoking, as we are told that in the adverts for these 'highly effective' methods of quitting

We e-cig users would never ever make such claims, it would be sheer lies for us  Wink Cheesy

The choice of smoking a cigarette is your decision -

My advice would be to take your time, persevere and be determined with your decision.
Vaping is so o o clean, once you have the habit...
Twice I've lit up a cigarette in 4 months - they tasdte and smell so dirty, now...ughhh

I smoked cigarettes for 36 years, and was at about 30 a day an d more...
However, I started vaping first week January 2012, and love it.....
I began with an ego-c, and have only ever had to replace one battery, and two atomisers - total extra cost, about £15...

I had decided I was determined to stop smoking and vaping were to be my best possible crutch...
Boy< I sucked on that ego, (at 18mg), like a baby  sucks a dummy for the first few days, but it satisfied my craving enough to decide not to pick up a pack of ciggies,,,
Every few weeks I dropped nicitine content, to the extent I'm now mixing my own at 3mg, and totally happy.

Just go for it!!!!!!

I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of the new Odyssey...

Hi, frann, welcome to the absolutely wonderfull world of vaping!!!  I am knocking on the door of sixty years old, and had smoked ciggies/rolling tobacco since I was fourteen... Embarrassed   A few years ago, I was diagnosed with heart problems, and was told to quit smoking, as if it was easy as all that!!  I was sneaking out to have a roll up whilst I was in the acute care unit in hospital....... Embarrassed  I knew nothing about vaping at that time, and stumbled on TW completely by accident about a year ago.  I KNEW that I had to quit smoking, but just didn't know how I was gonna manage it, I bought an e-cig from a well known door to door delivery book,
but when I started using it I was dissapointed with the results!!   I went on tinternet to find out more about these e-cigs, and found these videos of this guy creating clouds and clouds (it was Igetcha69) and I was blown away!!  Over a year later, and I have not touched an analogue since getting my first "proper" e-cig (an ego) from TW, and watching all the different instruction videos. I feel great, my health is good, no more coughing in the mornings, (no more snoring like a drain at night..lol) yes, I still have to take my heart meds, but even my Doc had to agree that my health has greatly improved Wink  So, keep on trying to give up those disgusting smelly air polluting analogues!!!  You will feel so much better, will hopefully be a bit better off-not easy when there are sooooo many goodies to buy from TW!!, but that's all part of the fun of vaping, all those different flavours...mmmmmmmmmmm....  super!!!   lol Grin
                                                Good luck!!!!
                                                              kind regards,
                                                                          Maryon
