Red Label Apple Concentrate October 2011
Crystal clear liquid for this one and, upon opening the bottle, there’s a very pleasant aroma of what is to me a slightly sweet fresh apple which has been bitten into……
Equipment – Tornado 650mAh battery, fitted with a clean 510LR atty
Let’s begin with my favourite starting-point in terms of nic and flavour strength……
10 drops DV PI VG
6 drops TW RL FC Apple
14 drops DV PEG400 dilutant
18mg nic strength, 20% flavour, Shake the dropper bottle and leave to rest for a while…
Well, for me personally, this mix seems to be ideal. What I thought was going to be a concoction which would produce an overly sweet, almost “soft drink” taste turns out to be almost as the flavour concentrate smell - just slightly sweet and quite refreshing. The aftertaste lingers for a fair while but becomes quite dry – the kind of taste one gets when eating the peelings for a length of time. In fact, I’d go as far to say that during the exhale is where most of the flavour is produced. Very pleasant…….
Even when opening my dropper bottle containing this mix you can quite easily smell the apple from within, however, I’m not convinced that increasing the flavour content will produce better results so let’s reduce, slightly, the level of concentrate and, at the same time, increase the nic strength and see if there’s any drastic reduction in overall taste……
17 drops DV PI VG
6 drops TW RL FC Apple
17 drops DV PEG400 dilutant
23mg nic strength, 15% flavour, Shake the dropper bottle and, again, leave to settle…
There’s no real doubt that the overall flavour content is slightly diminished but, what I did notice was a bit of an increase in sharpness to the flavour on the inhale – most peculiar, and it took a few puffs to make sure that I wasn’t imagining things. The aftertaste dryness is certainly lessened when reducing the flavour content (which is expected, I guess) and, to be honest, I’m now not sure which batch I prefer – both have their plus points…. Hmm….
In conclusion, I really enjoyed this flavour – there are plenty of apple flavours out there in the market and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. With my mix #1 it was like the exhale of a Golden Delicious (slightly sweet), whereas mix #2 gave me the inhale of a Granny Smith (slightly sharp). I also got to find out just how well the apple flavour concentrate goes with the DV menthol – a discovery in itself but that, my friends, is another story…….
