How do you know when you've flooded a DCT  cartomizer?

Had that happen while refilling this am. The DCT works, just isn't producing lots of vapor.

When you inhale you will hear a gurgling or it just feels like there is liquid when you take a draw on it.

After I fill it I normally get a bit of tissue and with it fully assembled just blow through the mouth piece gently to get any excess liquid out before i attach it to my battery

Thank you Kenneth, now if I could just figure out an easy way to fill them (without wasting juice) I'll be golden  Grin

fire wing are you having trouble filling it without spilling liquid? if you want any tips or any specific things you would like to ask about filling fire away.

As long as you are filling with the same liquid then just pull down the carto so its just below the metal ring inside the tank. Then the metal ring will come off really easy. Then you just have to push the carto back up fill up full.

grab your tissue and put it on the threaded end of the carto to catch any liquid that will be forced through the hole inside the tank then you push the metal ring back on due to the pressure of you pushing it on,

Pop on the metal ring. Wipe the threaded area. Put on your mouthpiece and that's it.  Wink

I had a hard time keeping the liquid from coming out the bottom...

there really is no way of keeping he liquid form escaping out the bottom when filling since its just the pressure of you pushing the oring on it has no where to go other than the small hole in the carto. then it just comes out the bottom.

The only way I have prevented this is by;

Filling as above but before replacing the oring DO NOT push the carto back into its fully fitted position. Leave the top of the carto in the tank. then push on the oring then try push the carto through the middle of the oring. You have to line it up and be quite tricky while trying to make sure the liquid in the tank does not run into the top of the carto while your doing all this.

Basicly by doing this your keeping the small hole in the carto out the tank while you push on the oring therefore any pressure that would have built up in the tank is released through the middle of the oring as you havent your pushed the carto through it.

Hope that makes sense  Huh lol

I fill mine easily:

Take the aluminum drip tip off (on a tissue, as I usually blow it out afterwards before putting it back on Smiley )
Take the carto some of the way down, just low enough so that a syringe with metal tip (those really thin ones) can come down inti the tank and fill it up Cheesy
When almost at the top, I stop filling, push the carto back into place, drip a few drops of liquid onto the wadding in the carto (like priming, but just with a few drops) and then I put the aluminum drip tip back on Cheesy

VOILA! Cheesy DCT filled up, and not a drop has gone to waste Tongue

Hope it helped you, dear  Cheesy

Happy vaping Cheesy

Syringe is certainly the easiest way but I've had no problem filling direct from the bottle, just make a small gap between the carto and the o-ring and fill down the inside of the o-ring. The juice just flows down the o-ring into the tank. I can't quite get it full to the brim this way but that's not a huge issue.

Since priming my DCTs, i've not had to re-juice the wadding either. I've left the silicon ring in place and just refilled the tanks using the method described above and i've had no leaking problems either. Maybe there's some juice escaping into the tube down the middle of the wadding in your carto when you're filling. That'd give you a leak/flood for sure.

Is it leaking out of the bottom of the carto or the bottom of the tank?

If its leaking from the tank then check the o'ring on the inside of the metal caps
if they are damaged you will get a leak

If its leaking out of the bottom of the carto you must be getting juice into the
centre which will leak out the bottom

Also try filling the tank and leave an air gap it the top

Hope this helps Steve

Ok, dumb question please don't laugh. The O-ring goes in top of the carto, in between the mouthpiece and the carto right? I hope I am putting it in the right place. Also it's leaking out if the carto, so I am thinking I am flooding it. -When I try  and pull the carto down, even a little, it leaks out either the bottom, out the carto hole or the tank itself. I know there has to be a better way. And the instructions that come with the DCT don't even tell you what to do with the bung, o-ring or whatever it's called...

No the only dumb question is on you don't ask  Wink

The o'ring I was referring to is on the inside of the metal caps
there is one on the inside and one on the outside black in colour
these make a seal on the tank for the outside and the carto on
the inside

The little white bung which you refere to does indeed go into the
top of the carto flat side facing up

Hope this helps
If not keep asking and we will see if we can sort this out for you
these DCT's really are the best thing ever

Thanks Steve
