Hi all,
I have a question....really looking for recommendations...
Last night I picked up my DCT and had a vape and tasted.....<mold?> Now I've had liquid in it for bout 2 weeks just topping it off with a personal mix @36mg coffee/cherry/vanilla
I took out the cart and set it in boiling water and did it again for good measure and that seemed to fix the mold issue...however, I had to dump a full 3.5ml of liquid for fear of contamination!
In order to avoid this .... recommendations on cleaning plz? 1X weekly? 2X a week?

Strange one, was it actually mould? I have carto’s with liquid in for ages and they are perfectly fine. I can’t help with cleaning the carto as I throw them out when they start to under perform . As for the Tank simply wash out with water.

Far as I can tell yes mold.... Its still performing quite well. I think it may have been the upper less moist portion of the filler from what I've read on the forum thats a common thing with the DCT. I store it battery down. Now I think I will allow the liquid to wick better by setting it on the mouth piece end so that end stays moistened. Also I read somewhere in here PG juices kill bacteria and germs so all in all a good plan. least i think anywho. Ty for responding

Ty for responding Is it possible that you did not pre fill the atomizer itself before vaping on it? if you didnt you prob singed the filler a bit and your getting an almost burnt taste from it. iv had it happen with other types of carts when i was first starting and its pretty hard to lose that taste after that happens. About setting it on ends.. i never found that i had to do that. been using one for almost 2 months now. i just set mine on its side. if you stand it on the battery end, you get what you said, a chance for the top of the filler to go dry on you cause it settled towards the bottom, and if you set it on the mouth end down, your taking a chance of the juice leaking out and running out of the mouth piece... messy table if it happens. on the side works for me, never had a leak or dry filler yet.

On a side note: setting the cart in a bowl of boiling water took care of the mold taste, don't think it would have for burnt filler.....

how did you get on with the dct?
I doubt it was mould unless it was from factory to you that it occurred as most attys are coated in primer to prevent air attacking any of the parts to it. Cartomizers im not sure if they get coated or not.
PG does have antimicrobial properties and kills virus and bacteria so mould would be unusual if the carto was fully primed when first used.

OMG! The dct is the best thing ever!!!! even if it's loud as.. Yeah... H*ll... It's still perfect Gotta work on the refilling, cause I wasted about 1,5 ml juice, because the damn cartomizer wouldn't let go! But other thatn that little starter issue, it'll work out just fine I'll learn how to refill it (and not cover my self in Blended Tobacco), and it will, in return, give me the pleasure of vaping The burnt taste everybody talks about appears here as well, but only for a single draw, and not horrifyingly gross It then disappear and comes back maybe an hour or so later... Then I give it a little juice on the top and burnt taste gone Loving it

Hi Kenneth Ok, seems I haven't been completely clear here..... I primed the carto two weeks before this occurred. I then filled it with my liquid of choice <PG coffee/vanilla/cherry> personal blend. I've been storing my DCT batterieside down. It had been vaping like a champ and the flavor =O.O= omg so good! Then the other night I picked it up after it had been sitting for bout 3 days unused, atomizer side down as usual, bout half full and tasted mold <yes mold>. Near as I can figure after much reading.... By storing it atomizer side down..... 1. the fluid drained out of the upper fluval material 2. still being damp but not soaked in PG this allowed mold to begin growing Now I solved this issue by boiling some water and soaking the carto in it twice until cool. I am still using the aforementioned cartomizer. However, I now store it on the mouthpeice side down with the bunge in. I flip the device upright in the morning about 10 mins before I wish to have my morning vape. If I want it sooner, I simply dry vape it a few times to reprime it quickly and enjoy! Just to be clear I simply washed and dried my tank and reassembled I wouldn't want to boil pastic.....as it would distort or deform it

I've had cartos left out for ages and mold. PG is a sort of antibacterial. I have a feeling the carto you received had mold in it from the factory. It may be possible it got wet somehow during manufacturing. Maybe it was just a stale hit from sitting. Maybe the juice tasted like mold cause the liquid on the coil is exposed to air and sat for so long. (the coils on the duel coil are always exposed to air as the mouthpiece hole is bigger.

Certainly possible... though I'm leaning more towards error on my part I thought the same bout stale hit.....so I dripped some fluid in the carto and retried still tasted of mildew.... thats when I decided to clean it....>.>

I'm glad the cleaning went well. Sometimes when I use water I get the worst tasking hits ever probably due to not drying it completely. No matter the beginning it's all good in the end right. good morning!
