Hilo lovies!

I started vaping at 36mgs allowed me to transition from my usual 20 analogs. Its funny but I don't think vaping would have been viable if I hadn't started at 36mg cause, I couldn't taste anything with a lower mg strength. Huh A couple weeks went by and I found myself having heart flutters not headaches which clued me in that I was taking in too much nicotine. So I took it down to 24mg by mixing myself a batch.....still heart flutters by the end of the day. 3days later I dropped it down to 18mg. No flutters but I did have high blood pressure at my doc appt. So, a week after dropping to 18mg I dropped it again to 12mg.....I experienced some withdrawal uncomfyness.

I waited the withdrawals out and now 12mg is my steady vape. My last doc appt. showed a dramatic drop in blood pressure woohoo! Now I can keep my luxury and be healthy  Grin

Anywho, as a vaper I like to chain. I think how much u vape will affect how much nic you have in your system.

Vape alot? or Vape a little?  is an effective gauge with which to decide how much mgs of nic is in your liquid

I haven't read the previous posts but I too vape lower than what I started on.  I smoked 10-15 filtered roll-ups a day and was recommended 18mg fluid.  Needless to say it was too high, I was getting headaches, so I got some PG and diluted it down to about 6/8mg which suits me as I prefer to puff more.

10-15 rollies I would have recommended 8-11 mg. I get what you mean though. I moved up and down until I settled for........

what I started with, 18mg.  Undecided

I think that's working on the basis as a light-moderate vaper you will use 1.5ml aprox liquid a day

8mg liquid is 8mg per ml of liquid

So

A normal cig gives you 1mg nicotine

Therefore

1.5ml @ 8mg is = 12 cigs in nicotine content

Or that's the theory

Is also say those are good starting points Smiley

I think your levels are right on the money, I was smoking 2 packs (40) a day, started with 36mg and I am very happy with it.

Interesting reading
Based on the comparison I'm vaping about 2-3 times my old analogue equivalent

But for me I'm not smoking all the crap that goes along with cigs so when my carts are empty I fill up and carry on
Happy days!

You're also not taking in high levels of freebase nicotine, possibly why you're taking in more nicotine.

I agree.  There are loads of topics on the forum about the differences in analog and vapor nicotine. I'm not going to retype it here, but it is worth a read.

OK, I've found this:

An average cigarette yields about 1 mg of absorbed nicotine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicotine

A Titan Tank cartidge has a capacity of 0.5ml.

18mg strength is 18mg per 1ml.

Therefore, 1 titan tank at:
9mg is equivelent to 4.5 cigarettes.
18mg is equivelent to 9 cigarettes.
36mg is equivelent to 18 cigarettes.

(as long as all nicotene is absorbed)

So really if you get through 1.5ml a day your smoking the equivilant of just over 12 stinkys? I was smoking 20+ a day sonic that's right that's good news to me!

At lower nic levels you'll taste less nicotine which does have a taste. So the nic can slightly cover the flavor taste at higher nic levels. I use 22mg now and only 10% flavor. I've gotten used to the nic flavor itself and don't really taste it anymore do I'm more than happy with the percentages. Think of how sh¡tty the taste of cigs are and how used to them you were. It's the same thing with e-juice. Wink

When I first started vaping everything I read basically stated that 18mg was equivalent to a full flavored cigarette, so that's what I started with. I never experienced any sort of withdrawal symtoms. Eventually I bought a bottle of 24mg strength to see what it would be like, and right away I started getting nauseas, headaches, etc. so I watered down the 24 with AG till it was at 18mg and other than the flavor being slightly less than I'm used to, it again worked fine for me. So far I'm going to stick with 18mg, but I might eventually try and lower my nicotine level.

And to answer the questions asked a while back about teeth, I don't think vaping will have an effect on your teeth. IIRC both posters asking that question were Americans, and basically Americans put more care into the appearance of their teeth than the British do. While I'm an American, I treated my teeth basically like the British do/did, so now my only teeth sit in a cup in my bathroom!  Embarrassed And, I'm not trying to start a flame war here about teeth, I'm just stating an observation. Thanks!

Are you familiar with e-juice  recipe calculator? They say it will guide to create a balanced e-juice with just the right amount of water, nicotine level and of course the intensity of flavor. I haven't tried this one as i still have the free e-juice which i got when i bought my e-cig kit.

Hi coolman and welcome to the forum. Smiley
The calculators are for creating ejuice from base ingredients to tailor the end result to suit you perfectly. It's not very hard and its so much cheaper than pre-mixed juices. Maybe you'd like to read up on mixing and give it a to sometime.
Lots of useful information in this thread.

I think that's working on the basis as a light-moderate vaper you will use 1.5ml aprox liquid a day

8mg liquid is 8mg per ml of liquid

So

A normal cig gives you 1mg nicotine

Therefore

1.5ml @ 8mg is = 12 cigs in nicotine content

Or that's the theory

The big question is how many mg of Nicotine do you get from one puff of an e-cig compared to that of a normal one?

mg/ml is meaningless to me really but being a 30-40 a day smoker I was recommended 24mg/ml (which TW don't do so was told to mix 18 with 36). I eventually settled on 18mg/ml liquid. I tried lowering to 11mg but it wasn't enough for me.

People seem to think I chain-vape but I believe it's a totally different kettle of fish. When I smoked, I had constant drags (approx 15??) until the cig was done wheras with vaping I have 2-4 at a go but keep going back to it.

So yeah I vape more often but less drags on it each time. At least I think I do....

Have I drifted off topic...

I started off last year out of curiosity via an Asian wholesaler that I had clicked onto a wrong page for items to do with scooters and stuff and spotted one of them cheapo nastio plastic cartridge kits and was piqued with curiosity, I then tried the 510 cartomisers that were being offered as a kit by one of these scam sites who wanted 29.99 a month for a pack of three cartomisers but I opted out of the 30 quid a month er offer and kept the intro kit which I was refilling but still it wasn't what I wanted and still I smoked rollies.

Then I found sites like TW and bought a selection of tanks and stuff and went into it properly, a mix of 36 and 18mgs in flavours, a selection of 1.6ml clearomisers, a couple of 10ml super tanks from a mate and then the lovely TW Torpedo Chrome with its extra wicking and shiny looks (is my favourite tank) and I just didn't look back, my only grief is finding that nirvana of a fluid, a really potent spearmint with a hint of tobacco and a soupçon of citrus behind it but I am using the TW Ice Menthol which is very nice indeed.

My only thought is to beware the cheapo imitators out there and buy from a quality retailer as its a false economy I found and never run a tank dry if its got a certain type of wick as they singe and make the flavour taste really horrible.

When I was in my twentys I smaked around forty a day so I switched to a pipe. Thirty years on I have decided to quit it and vape instead. I got the 18mg liquid but a couple of pufs had me flying.  I rather suspect now that there is very little nicotine in pipe smake. Ah well need to wait for the shops to open on tuesday now Sad
