Hi,

I've had my kit less than a week and one of the batteries stopped working with the DCT. It still produces vapour with the ego tank and atty though. I thought it might be dirty connections, so i cleaned them all and tried again. No luck. I then thought that i'd try a full recharge, but it's not taking a charge either. So once the charge has run out using the tank, I wont be able to recharge it. The other battery performs fine with the DCT, tanks and takes a charge too, so I've ruled out a faulty charger and DCT.

Any suggestions or is it simply an RMA?

Hiya mjchantler, it may just be that the centre post has dropped a bit, normally this is caused by screwing the atty and battery together too tightly, and can be resolved fairly easily by carefully lifting the centre pin.....but this will void your warranty, and so I would just get in touch with TW and get it exchanged.

Either the post or you will have to try bump charging the battery to kick it back to life

Basicly plug it in to charge. When it says its full turn it on with the 5 clicks

then back off then back on charge and see if it will let it charge again for 5 mins. and if it does just continue to do so as long as it doesnt get too hot etc.

Could be that its ran so flat on one run its now failing to read what fully charged is.

It doesn't work with either dct.

That post is pushed in a little and that's stopping the circuit for dct and the charger. It's happened to me and many others before.

Ok, so what should my next move be? I may have tightened the tanks finger tight, but it's not like I've torqued them down.

Send back to TW?

Yeah I would say Stevie was right then. The little gold coloured nub in the battery where you screw your atty onto if you pull that up just by a mere fraction it will make a connection again .

Its just been pushed down because the center pin in one of the attys or ego has knocked it ever so slightly down

Invalidate warranty or is it just a case of some needle nose pliers? The battery is less than a week old so if it's genuinely loose, I don't want to void any warranty on it.

It's a bit of both....it's easy enough to do, but it will invalidate your warranty, and if you're not careful you could also short out the battery, which is why I recommended going through TW.

not even just a paper clip and push one side then the other. It probably wont even look like its moved but it can be just enough to let it make contact.

If you do use pliers try putting some kitchen paper on  the pliers teeth it so you dont damage the metal.

Like I said your not trying to actually PULL it up. your more nudging it up to make contact and it usuall doesnt look like its moved as i say but it works.

It usually happens as some center pins in the attys are not all at the exact same level. So its not always down to over tightening. Once screwed on it pushed the center pin on the atty up and the post in the battery down ( just enough that it no longer makes a clean connection a fraction of a mm) and then it looks like its not working.


This is all just for your knowledge  base though because at present You can phone TW though as you said its under warranty and as you have another battery to use while the other is away to be replaced its whatever you are happiest with as TW would certainly look after you. They just want happy customers

Yes wiggle the pin with a straitened paper clip prying it up ever so slightly one side at a time until it makes contact. It should only take very tiny bit of movement to get I up enough. Less than a mm I'm sure. DO NOT PRESS THE POWER BUTTON WHILE DOING THIS!

Spoke to CS this morning and was advised that it does NOT invalidate your warranty to pull the pin up by yourself. Have followed the instructions posted above and now have a fully functioning, chargeable battery again.

I was told pulling it up will invalidate the warranty as it could easily be pulled up to far (not that it's stopped me). Wink
I could have been a dream.... Anyhow I'm glad it's ok to do so now and I'm glad your battery is working better now.
