I find this a good ecig but vapour does seem to go down as the battery runs down. After it flashes to say change it clouds of vapour on the fresh battery! Is this normal?
Thanks

Yes.... but it happens for less time and more noticably with the Tornado and Titan as they are regulated outputs so the drop off only happens right near the end of the charge. With an unregulated model the drop off happens with each vape as the charge is getting less and less, so you probably won't notice the drop so much until it gets too weak.

did you get your batteries from TW?  There are some fake Joy products out there that don't use PWM technology, and they won't exhibit the same behavior as genuine Joy products (like the Tornado) with their PWM technology.

Tornado batteries (or any genuine Joy eGo batteries) will maintain constant voltage until almost fully discharged, with only a slight drop-off just before the battery signals it needs a recharge.

Yeah, well then it sounds like that's the case.  There's noting necessarily wrong with them.... they just won't have the PWM technology and so will allow the voltage to sag as the battery discharges..... Undecided  also, may not have all the protection circuitry of the Tornadoes.  If you get a TW Tornado or genuine Joy eGo battery, you'll see the difference right away.

Wow Nick -- you got that one right on!   Guess that's why you have so many stars behind your name!   Smiley

I know absolutely nothing about batteries, what is "PWM".    Since that guy's face got burnt up from an e-cig, I'm trying to learn more about batteries and care for them, etc.

Paulette

P.S.   Hope you are feeling a bit better!

Hey Lettie,

Didn't you know.. 8Ball is wanted in 5 states for 'star theft' ?  Shocked ah ok.. I admit it.. His stars are well deserved.. He's a clever old bean really!  Smiley

The Ego batts have this tech called 'pulse width Modulation' (PMW) which basically means that they output their voltage at a constant rate.. 3.3volts I think?  Undecided
So rather than get a massive performance on a fresh charge which gets gradually more rubbish as they day goes on. The theory is that it'll be the same from fresh until its Battery bed time!  Smiley
That's about all I know as I'm not a clever as some of the tech fold on here.. Just about understand it all myself! But hope it helps.. I'm sure they will give you a more 'in depth' version at some point!  Smiley

Now.. About those stars that I loaned you 8.. When you said.. 'borrow' ?  Roll Eyes. Lol.. Run away....

Here's a very well written article click here...intro to pulse width modulation...covers the basics pretty well

Dereck72 -- thanks so much!

Since you were so helpful and I know you have a lot of knowledge about batteries, can you just give some information so that I won't have a battery blow my face off!

I use the Tornado T and the eGo-C, no boosters or anything like that.  I put my batteries on the charger every evening (I used to do it overnight, but then got scared and started doing it while I am still awake).   Normally I have 4 PVs going during the day and now I've even started unscrewing them from the atomizers while they sit there unused.   I think I may have gone overboard in my safety-thinking (as I know nothing about batteries).

I'm not asking you to tell me the whys of anything, maybe just reassure me that I can charge these things while I'm sleeping and it's okay to leave the battery screwed to the atomizer for a couple hours while I'm not using them.

I know I must sound dimwitted ~~ humm, maybe I am about batteries anyways!

Hi Lettie! Smiley

Well, it's best not to leave your batteries on the charger unattended. Undecided   That said, I leave mine on the charger overnight all the time, so...... Cheesy  As far as leaving your attys attached to your batteries when not in use, there shouldn't be any risk in that.  Then main thing you want to watch for is that you don't carry loose batteries around in your pocket or purse.  You don't want to have them in a position where they could be activated and/or shorted out when you're not aware of it (like carrying them around loose in a pocket or purse, for instance Cheesy).  And if you have a battery that's acting different (getting hot, not charging, charging in a matter of minutes, remaining activated after you release the button, or if the button starts flashing and doesn't stop (and this last one is usually accompanied by the battery getting very hot)), then stop using it and get it outside and away from anything flammable.  If you respect these things there's really not that much to be concerned with, IMHO. Smiley

Oh, and thanks to you and VE for the kind words. Smiley

Thanks bunches Nick!   I usually do carry around a spare battery in my purse, but I do have one of that black plastic protectors around the button and the whole thing is in a container that is then in my purse.   It is pretty snug in the container, so there isn't much rolling around.   I know, I know -- to be on the safe side I really shouldn't even do that, right?
