So, I got my lovely new SD on Monday.  Everything going great .... until Wednesday lunchtime when I was getting a burnt taste when I inhaled.  Having stepped up from the Mini (901) and occasionally having this problem, I blew out the atty, added a few drops of juice, put the cartridge back on and had a puff.  First one was OKish, but the next one tasted burnt as did the next one.  Added another drop of juice to the atty and made sure the cartridge was topped up.  But I was still getting the burnt taste, which was getting more acrid with every puff.

At this stage, I put down the SD and got on with my work.  Picked it up again about an hour later - the first couple of puffs was OK then back came the acrid taste.  By this stage I didn't bother with it (my spare atty was at home - yeah, I know, stoopid me lol).

So, last night I changed the atty and was back to vaping bliss - until lunch time today that is.  This atty is now doing the same.  Followed the same things as I did with the previous one but it's still mega yuck.

I do have some spare atties from my old 901 kit and found one that is just holding in there so I can vape away - just hope it lasts the long bank holiday weekend.

I did charge up an old 901 battery and hooked up one of the atties from the SD to it - still awful acrid burnt taste but great vapour lol (better than I've ever had from a 901 set up)

Do I have dodgy atties, dodgy batteries or am I missing something really simple?

Any and all advice would be most welcome Smiley

Thanks

Sarah

Never found the 901 atomisers to be any good, buy a 901-510 adaptor and put a dct or a clearomiser on to it,at least with the option of being able to use a 510 connection you have a lot more choice available to you,
i love my sd and use clearomisers on it and a dct on my vvv to use at home.

I was looking at the converter earlier on but I didn't want to go ahead and get one in case there is a problem with the SD itself - 3rd atty is now giving me the burnt taste  Cry  Don't think my spares have enough life left in them to last the long weekend.

The only time i ever get a burnt taste with my sd is when the batteries are running down too low, maybe speak to someone from tw and see what they say.

Mournemaiden It sounds to me as if you are letting cartridge run to dry.

Sorry to disagree you Danwldr but The 901 is generally a cooler vape than the 510.
I also don’t see how you get a burnt taste with a low battery a fully charged SD battery pushes over 4v so if anything that should cause the burn.

But I do agree that with a 510 adaptor you open up a lot of choices.

That's ok,i just didn't like them that's all,we each have our own preferences, not sure it was burnt, just tasted rubbish, obviously the juice wasn't getting hot enough,so maybe not burnt, just crap  Shocked

Thanks for your replies  Smiley

The cartridge is topped up Cyborg so there's plenty of juice (and it's not overfilled lol) and I've used fully charged batteries, half charged batteries, almost depleted batteries and I'm still getting the horrible acrid burnt taste.  Even putting the offending atties on a 901 battery is still giving me the burnt taste.

I'm back using my 901 atty/battery combo at the moment (with one of my back up, almost dead atties lol) - not as good a vape but at least I'm not choking on the taste.

What you are describing is a problem with either the atomisers or a wicking problem with the carts.   You could test this out by direct dripping - take an atty which hasn't tasted burnt, plus an empty cart with no filler in it.  Drip two or three drops of juice down the atty, put the empty cart on an vape.   You should get a few good pulls out of it this way.  If those pulls are ok tasting, the problem is your carts...

Thanks Prof Beard - tried it with an old atty and no burning taste  Smiley  Not as smooth a vape as it was but that could just be due to the atty being nearly 2 years old  Shocked - I've been vaping on and off for that long lol - but I'm determined to stick at it this time.  I was really enjoying vaping with the SD until I got the burning taste.

I've ordered myself a 901-510 adaptor, 5 clearomizers and a deluxe refilling kit (taking advantage of the Facebook discount  Grin ).  Should get them Wednesday/Thursday and hopefully I'll be back to being a happy vaper  Smiley

Adaptor, clearomizers and filling kit arrived today - YIPPEE - I'm in vaping heaven  Wink    Had a fill of menthol, then tobacco and currently on minty choc  Smiley   Don't know whether to go for banana or strawberry next, or maybe spearmint, or cinnamint lol

Thanks for your help  Kiss
