Hi there folks. I am returning to gaping after a 4 year relapse back onto analogs. I have joined the SD II club with the tank conversion. I absolutely love this system and is working very well for me except that I'm getting loads of vapour, but little or no taste from my TW liquids. I'm vaping cherry, strawberry and tobacco favours at 36mg. Also getting a very harsh throat hit from these liquids, does this have anything to do with nic content? Previously I was vaping on a DS p 901 mainly dripping, cos I got fed up refilling the carts. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am desperately trying to make a go of vaping. Regards, Thunderbeard. Post edited to comply with forum regulations http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussions/legal-advisory-and-revised-terms-of-forum-use/

Cool name! 1st off, welcome back to the world of 'gaping'! LOL just kidding, yes Nic level will directly effect throat hit and 36g is pretty strong, i was a 40 a day smoker and im good at 24mg! Regard flavour, are you using premix or are you mixing your own?

Thanks for your speedy reply. I'm using pre-mixed TW E-liquid.

My 1st thought would be have you primed the tank and atty?

Yes, primed both of them. Was fine for about a day or two, then just seemed to loose flavour. I have tried repriming the atty and used a new tank. Even tried different e-liquid I had left over from my previous vaping tour, still seems to be very little flavour there too. Definately more vape with the SD II, than the DS901. I have tried the SD II with a 901 atty, getting loads of gape and med flavour while dripping. I have had the tank atty flood a day ago, blew it out, and worked fine, but still hardly any flavour.

Have you tried a different atty? Sorry for being too obvious!

The other thing it could be is, and ive not yet experienced it yet, but a lot of vapers say how flavour tails off when vaping the same vapour day in day out. Make sure you are drinking enough and maybe try different flavours to keep things fresh If its producing loads of vapour then everything must be working ok and i cant see how flavour can diminish without loss of vapour as well....just an after thought.....

And another thing it could be is the dreaded "vaper's tongue" where you pretty much loose all sense of taste. I had it for a few days and it reallllly su_ks! I was told to continue to drink lots of water, which I did. If this is what is happening, you should have your sense of taste back soon (different amounts of time for different peoples)!

So this vapers tongue, does it affect all tastes or just those flavours associated with vaping? lol silly question but you never know!
I think i may have a case of it since i have noticed a decrease in my taste over the last 2 weeks, my smell/taste got really good once id quit smoking analogs and now its kinda tailing off again

Hiya Thunderbeard, welcome to the forum. Are you using standard tank atties or Mega Tank atties? I always found that the standard tanks muted the taste of what I was vaping, so much so that my standard T atties are in the drawer for emergency use only. I found that the Mega Tank atties gave a bit better flavour, but when I tried the -C I was really impressed, it's what tanks should always have been.

Welcome to the forum Thunderbeard
If you've only just started vaping again, your tastebuds will need time to recover.

Knoton, every time this topic comes up, I think of you and then think: "Poor Knoton." Weird tho, not too long after I posted on this thread, I too got the dreaded "Vapers Tongue." Hopefully it won't last too long; and certainly not what you've experienced! So sorry for you!

Ya I used the tanks for quite awile and I liked em, but at the same time " for me" it always muted the taste of my flavor's.
The LR's tanks helped alot flavorwise for me.
So hope you get it figured out and GL =) !

Hi Thunderbeard,
I too found little flavour with the flavoured liquid, I find much more flavour using the concentrates. Rather than waste the liquid, I use the liquid as a "base" and add concentrates to them. I also found the 24mg juice supplied with the kit way too harsh. What you can do is dilute your 36mg juice using PG and AG solutions (go to mixing section for more clues!). If you dilute your strength to 18mg, you will also double your amount of liquid, saving you £££'s (or $$$, depending where you are from)

Thanks folks for your speedy replies, they are greatly appreciated. So reading all the replies, looks like I may have the dreaded Vaper's tongue lol. Could anyone prehaps tell me what attys will fit on a SD II other than the 501 or 901?

You could try the Tonado-T tank attys, I've been using them for some time now, and whilst they're a little more expensive than others, they seem to be holding out just fine. Good flavour and quite long-lasting.

Thanks for the great replies guys and gals. I guess I'm just gonna have to supplement my e-liquids with flavour concentrates until this "vaper's tongue" thing sorts itself out, lol.

Good luck, mine usually only last for a day or so. I believe 8ball and someone else said that eating a lot of garlic seems to do it to them and I know the last time I got it, I had had a lot of garlic.
Hope yours goes away soon! Adding Lime Zinger and Diablo Poco to my mixes helps, but be careful with that DPoco -- a little goes a pretty far way!

Well, I think I've been lucky so far and not had the dreaded tongue thingy. It could be because I always carry three attys with me and have a couple of vapes on each one. Maybe you could try the same. Anyway, hope it sorts itself out, I'm sure it will

Toothpaste kills all flavours for me for about half an hour... very noticeable. Also garlic as 8Ball posted, but eating a crisp apple or sucking on a lemon (yes, I love lemons) or lime juice will sharpen up your tastebuds again. A glass of cold milk also seems to help but not always! The best way to avoid "vaper's tongue" is to keep swapping flavours throughout the day, but your mileage will almost certainly vary

Just thought I'd add that nicotine is indeed the cause of most harsh throat hits. Also heard a lot of complaints on the low resistance not giving the flavor like the 3.2 olm but I trade that for the vape.

Hiya Thunderbeard, sorry, I missed your question before this. -C atties are for the eGo-C, the newst version of the Tornado Tank, with changeable atty heads. The atties are only available in the full kit, they aren't available separately yet but are due soon.
