Heaven is a TankDriver!

« on: July 13, 2011, 02:12:58 AM »

Well my trusted old Screwdriver finally passed away last night.  Cry  Cry  Already seasoned to the SDs odd lil quirks, I went through the check list - battery, atomiser, switch, spring etc etc (you could say I tried emergency resuscitation but D.O.A.).  The final moments were just devastating, he coughed and spluttered and the little flame was bright no more.  Cry

It was very upsetting,  I didn't realise how much he meant to me.  Without my SD in my right hand (watch it boys, I know what yer thinking) I was lost.  Without my buddy by my side, what was I to do?  Hold on.... he thought of me till the bitter end, he didn't just kick the bucket at any old time.  No - he hung on until the 30% off July sale, quick.... where's my credit card.... 2 new SD's winging their way to my front door. Cheesy

Wow, Kate, that's awful!  I'm so sorry for your loss, I understand the emptiness you must be feeling.

Any chance you might have it looked over to find out what caused it's demise?

Thank goodness for the sale Smiley

I'm sorry for your loss Kate, but that picture is kind of confusing, is he in heaven or hell?

The halo and wings say heaven, but the flames and the color of the halo and wings says hell.  Huh

Absolutely not - I have a weird sense of humour, and I'm glad others do as well.  It's all true - my SD did die on me but I thought I would make light of the situation.  Wink  Oh and Welcome to the forum Georgie - how many children have you got?  I have 3 daughters.

Kate

p.s. oh my you're a Lancashire Lass - I was dragged up in Skelmersdale  Wink

Well I very curious as to just what your SD died of.

I was of the impression that since there were no electrical parts in an SD that is was pretty hard to kill them.  And other than the body breaking everything else was replaceable

Autopsy Report

Took SD completely apart and interchanged parts with new SD to find the defective bit,
Found it was the spring in the switch - haven't a clue why, it looked the same as a working switch,
Also the spring at the other end (by the atomizer) had become misaligned, straightened this out.

And now through the miraculous application of modern science....

It's alive I tell you, ALIVE

The SD is now convalescing and all signs point to a full recovery  Tongue

Excellent news!  And so relieved to hear the "patient" is making progress.  I can't even begin to spell or pronounce the condition your SD nearly died from, however, having spent some time in the trenches (forums), my understanding is that "1st aid"-type fix for this, is to use the spring from one of the TW pens that come free with most of your orders.  Who knew Jason was supplying us with "spares" by sending out the pens?  Gotta love this company Smiley

And, btw, congratulations on owning 3 SD's, nothing like a couple of "spares" for troubleshooting.
