I've been using the Screwdriver for a couple of days (after trying Prof Beard's) and I'm very impressed, so impressed I ordered another one.

Unfortunately my SD has stopped working  Cry. I've taken it apart and compared it to the new one I've bought and it would appear that the spring that is compressed by the +ve end of the battery has failed so when I press the button the battery does not make contact with the atomiser. The spring appears to be totally compressed and will not release.

The atomiser and battery are fine.

Any suggestions on how to cure this, but more importantly - is this a common problem?

I'm so glad I bought a spare one though - just a bit worried if this one packs up as well.

You probably could pop the spring back out, but I would just call TW (or email). I am sure they will ship out another... Wink

Hiya neilw, welcome to the forum. Sorry you're having problems with your SD... Is it possible that you have shorted it in any way? The internal spring is designed to act as a fuse in the event of a short to prevent more serious problems (I believe Capt 12b did something like that and replaced the existing spring with one from a torch). If it's only a few days old, I'd get in touch with TW and ask about a warranty replacement. Hope you get it sorted quickly.
Happy vaping.

Neil - I'd advise calling TECC (you got the SD from TECC?)   The spring shouldn't fail unless you have shorted the device somehow, but I guess any bit of metal can fail.  This isn't a common problem - 1000s of Mk2s have been sold and we've only has a few reports on here so I wouldn't worry.   Does the spring LOOK failed?

Thanks for all the responses. The spring looks manky, so I assume it's shorted out.

I was using it, then it just stopped working so can't work out how this happened but have contacted TECC to see if I can get a replacement. The worse case scenario is  I'll dig the soldering iron out and make a replacement.

One other I noticed is that the switch spring in my original SD  also has a problem -  when I took both apart the one from my original SD had a spring half the size of the new one. Seeing as there are switch kits available I'll be adding these to the next purchase list.

At least I'd ordered a spare SD kit that had turned up yesterday morning so I could carry on using an SD - prbably using it more than I smoke rollies as I work my way through sampling the selection of TW liquid that turned up yesterday  Cool.

You guys are great. Thought my SD died after 2 weeks but cleaned it via advice on here, works great again!

Stupid question...want to try the 510 atty on the SD but the cartridge has no filler...is it ok to just add filter from other carts or does it not need filter??? Told ya it was stoopid. After being without my SD for 2 days, scared to experiment lol  Cheesy

As for springs, ball point pen springs look like they'd fit tips in an emergency if cut down.

I should have updated sooner....but ETCC replaced the middle section as soon as I returned it to them - an excellent customer experience.
