Hi Everyone! I just got a new ego-c, and I'm very pleased. I love the flavor and the smooth draw. It's just a dream. But, the only problem I have is when I want to refill the tank (is that what you call it? the thingie that holds the e-liquid). I cannot get the dang cap off the tank other than with pliers, which while accomplish the goal, also damages the cap somewhat, in the process. So, what am I missing? Is there a tutorial or something on how to take these off?
thanks so much! -lucky

hey there are two indents on the side of the tank (yes you were right it is called a tank ) If you catch the cap with your nail where the indents are you will notice on one side you can catch it a little more than the other with you finger nail. Thats the side you want to pull hard on and it will come off. Failing that you can use like a butter knife not a sharp one and do the same with that you would do with your nail. BUT You can just fill it through the hole if you use Titan or Patriot range liquids as their bottles come with little nibs on for filling. Just dont squeeze the bottle too hard if you do it this way or the pressure in the tank may cause the cap to ping off and eliquid will be everywhere. So just squeeze gently until you can feel some pressure then let go and squeeze again only takes about two squeeezes of the bottle and its full anyway. If you dont have one of these bottles when you do or if you do get one just keep the bottle and fill with your fav liquid from then on

Thanks Kenneth! I tried filling it through the whole, and the very first time I was able to just drip into it. But, after that, for some reason the drops just wouldn't go in.
I did notice the indents. I will give that a try. thanks for the ideas!

If you have a filling needle as well you can just put it into the hole and fill without a problem. Just hold it to one side and there is no problem of leakage.

Cyborg, I actually purchased some of those with my ego-C order. Are you saying that the soft ones come off easily? I have not tired them yet.

I use them all the time, grip them with a tissue, (they can get a little slippery with the liquid) and they come off easily, I also think they last longer than the hard ones.

I came across this issue the other night and I got it off by screwing a small screw into the hole and then you have something to grip and give it a pull and it comes straight off then replace the cap witha soft one.

I'm not sure about the silicone caps. Larma seems to swear by them but myself I like the plastic ones. The first time that you have to get them off they are a pain in the ass. Using a tissue for cushion and using a finger nail with force seems to work. After the first time it seems to come off no problem. Its just the initial time that is the pain.

A Torx 10 screwdriver perfectly fits in the hole of the tank, push in and pop it off! Been struggling myself until thought of this.

Sounds like a good idea but I wouldn't take them off like that. I'll tell you why. The main reason people get leaks is because the hole in that cap gets wider allowing juice to flow down beside the spike instead of into the spike where it's supposed to go. Deforming that hole even the smallest bit will cause undesirable effects. This is why the soft silicon caps came out. The silicon caps hold a tight hole longer than the hard caps. Hope I explained good enough why not to do that. I know they are hard to get off but they get easier every time.

Only got my tank on Friday and since then I haven't been able to get the top off them! This is the only thing that has worked fo me, sorry it might be bad advice if you plan on using the cap again, I bought quite a few caps to replace when needed.
As soon as I get the slightest leak I just plan on replacing the cap.

Yes replacement caps lol. I wasn't even thinking of that. But hey it you want you could push the tank in so the spike punctures the hole and take it back out. Then fill with a syringe or right from some droppers that fit in the hole (Titan fluid bottle tips).

i replaced mine the first day i got the EGO-C a week ago after reading some post on this forum and have had no issue with leaks at the mo.
A small tip when removing the silicone caps once you have removed the hard plastics ones is to put some tissue round the cap and swift rather than try to pull it straight up with your finger nail i find it comes off really easy with a twist..
Cheers

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but I'm new to all this I've just bought a ego-c but I don't know which cap your talkin about in this thread. What is a tank cap? I just fill my tank and put it on.

The little plastic tank that you fill with juice, I think that you must fill it through the small hole in the bottom? Well where that small hole is, that is actually a cap for the tank. You can get your nail under it on the straight edge and pull it off. It can then be cleaned with some warm water

Thank you for the reply. I'm only still on my first tank full I haven't noticed that before. This product is amazing though I have to say. I'm very happy with it. It's my first e cig and I got cherry flavour to start with. I can't wait to try out some different flavours now.

Glad you're enjoying it Jacko, some of the flavours are fantastic. Did you buy any e-liquid with your order? If you did then you will need to fill your tank when your liquid has run out. If not save the tanks, because they are refillable

I've just got one 10ml bottle of cherry at the moment (as well as the 6 pre filled heads that came with the ego-c kit). I've just ordered a bottle of coffee and a bottle of red bull and some spare tanks and cap's from the website. This device is amazing

How many times can you re-use the tank caps? I've just ordered some more but I'm still using my first tank and cap and I've re filled it 3 times now. When should I change the tank/cap! Thanks in advance

How many fills before you need to change it? Does the hole eventually get bigger.

I never get to the stage where I need to change the cap. I always fill mine through the hole using the small rubber top on the titan bottles. The only time I take the cap off is when I need to clean the tank. I can literally get weeks and weeks out of a tank.

Yup. Same here. I usually get months out of a tank. I only throw it away when it becomes lose in the cone. The caps last me as long as the tank so I hardly ever replace the caps. Actuall some of my tanks that lasted months are still tight and I've replaced the cap. When to change it all depends on many things. One reason to change it is if you start getting leaks.

yeah, no I don't have a filling needle. i put together a kit with 2 extra 1000mah batts, 2 extra carts, 2 extra caps, 1 strip of the atomizers, mega and standard, then use 1 of the small bottles, then i widen the drip nozzle so all i have to do is pop the cap, refill fast, instead of dripping by drops, takes to long...just used a ice pick and widen the hole at the top and a small sqeeze will fill your carts quick. i take my little kit with me every time i leave the house and got everything i need in those zipper cases....works great, oh addded both atomizer bodies, yes it all fits fine...a great way of taking your egos on the road....try it guys! scadarick

This is only really do-able if the tank is empty, but:
When I can't get a hard cap off I dip the end of the tank in boiling water for a few seconds - the plastic expands just a touch and it's far easier to pull off.
I've tried the soft rubber ones too and recommend them, though I've found them a b*tch to get on when they're brand-new (no way for the air in the tank which it's displacing to escape). The solution was the blunt-end of a 12 gauge piercing needle, you can "punch out" a hole that's exactly the right size and you're all good.
