I managed to bag a torpedo @ 44% off earlier today. Totally by chance as well, I just so happened to load up the store rather than the forum and there it was, teasing me from the front page Cheesy

Im a dedicated DCT man these days but I've been reworking 510 XL DC cartos to work in the DCT. In last years yoyo I bought some triple coil cartos without doing any research and then found out that they are too gutsy for an ego battery. Anyway, I looked at them tonight and I guess i'll be able to rework those to go in the DCT too, I take it the torpedo will power those up no problem?

I hope so as I can only imagine that a triple coil tank would be awesome Cheesy

While I'm sure you can fit it in the tank I think the safety feature on the torpedo will limit how much voltage that you can run to it. 4-4.5 is probably be max before it will cut the voltage back to 3.7 since those are supposed to be LR coils to simulate 5 volts while on a 3.7 volt device.  Give it a shot bro, just for the bragging rights!!!!

Someone will come along and correct me if I am wrong.

I think pushing a triple coil will be asking a little much of it.  I've been using a similar device for a couple of days and with an LR atty I haven't been able to push much more than I could from it than what I'd get from a Tornado. I don't have an in-line meter, just going by how it feels.
Also, running a triple coil, I would suggest placing a second hole up higher on the carto so the filler around the highest coil stays wet.

Keep us posted, I'm interested to hear how it goes.

The second hole higher up seems to help me on the dual coil atties.

I think I have it lined up right..... did it on the side where the nichrome loops over.  Undecided

Then im confused... a Tornado/Ego wont run three coils properly, there's doubt whether the torpedo will either, so what devices do people use these with?

I will give it a go anyway since there were no takers for my triples in the trades section Smiley

This is something I've been considering after taking the last few cartos apart and seeing the top coil in a worse state than the bottom so defo going to be needed on a triple coil I think.

In the meantime I've been using my cartos without the silicone bung, every now and again I pull the carto down and top it up directly from the liquid in the tank. Next time I get in the workshop im going to get medieval on it,.
