Hey all. not sure if this is the right place for this post or not so here goes...

I have quite a few of the TW 5ml bottles that i use for mixing up my juice and carrying it with me wherever i go. Well, i have noticed a problem with the bottles and that is 'how to tell what is in what bottle'.
At first i just took a extra fine sharpie to them and wrote whats inside on the side of the bottle; that didnt work too well, it kept wiping off (really easily).
Currently i am using small paper labels to write on and stick them to the side of the bottle. This seems to work wonderfully with the exception that the labels dont want to stick to the bottle for long and they start to peel off. even when i clean the bottle with rubbing alcohol, dry them with a lint free cloth and use tweezers to set the label... they just dont want to stick to the super glossy exterior of the TW label. Long term this does not seem to be a reliable solution to this problem.

What would be wonderful is if TW would, or could re-design these bottles with a matte finish area just for writing whats in them on the label itself. the bottles themselves are great quality, and the labels that are on them, even though they peel off easily enough when you try, dont come off easily on their own.

I am currently trying out peeling off the TW label completely and placing my labels directly on the bottle itself. i dont expect to have much better luck than with sticking them direcly onto the labels though. ill update after ive ran a few bottles this way through their paces.

has anybody else out there ran into, or struggling with this same problem? if so, what have you tried that has and has not worked well for you in the long run (more than a week or two at a time).

I do much the same as you, small piece of paper but put cellotape all the way over the top and round the bottle, doesnt peel off and I just put a new one over the top if I put a diff flavour in the bottle.

I use a similar model label maker...... Eliquid and wear will lift the print after awhile.... but if you place a strip of clear Scotch tape over the label it's good and sealed in place.

Well I was told but I don't know for sure since I don't use one.  That the industrial tape (which is suppose to be good for outside use) would not do that. Cry Cry Cry

The more expensive labellers laminate the print before they come out of the machine, my "cheapo" printer is probably like yours.. the eliquid lifts the print off the label eventually.

Yeah unless I cover it with tape it will only last a week on an everyday use bottle..... on the novelty vapes it's lasted ages without being covered.

20$ was my limit on the label maker.

thanks for the ideas guys. i had thought about a label maker and using that for printing labels, but there is still the problem (from what you are all saying) that they still dont stay put unless your do something 'extra' to them. i am sure there is a 'perfect' answer for this somewhere out there, it just has to be found is all.

Yes there is a solution.  I understand if you wish to spend more money you can purchase a label maker that actually puts a clear vinyl coating over the letters so they don't wear off.

In the UK you can buy such models at around the £40 mark. ( it would be difficult to justify the cost just for vaping, but I guess it has other household uses too).

On some models you can adust the amount of "blank" space either side of your print, provided you make the label long enough to wrap around the bottle so the label meets itself then I find the label stays in place:)

well then, i suppose my paper labels and a bit of scotch tape is just going to have to suffice until i can get a really good label maker... and uses for it other than vaping to justify the cost.

Sorry for the month-old gravedig, but I wonder how these would work for labeling?

I use the industrial sharpies at work and the ink really is pretty rugged, even resistant to some solvents after it's dry, though some things like iso alcohol will still take it off fairly easy.  I wonder how it'd hold up to juice?

Eh, on second thought, the bottle surface may be too smooth to hold the ink through frequent handling of the bottle.  Then again, only a 5ml bottle probably won't get handled that many times before it's empty again.  I'll experiment with this in the near future . . . it's a helluva lot cheaper than a label maker (about $12US for the 12-packs at Staples) Wink

The sharpie ink does not stay on the smooth plastic bottles at all.  The juice takes it right off.  Same for glass bottles.  I just put a layer of tape around the bottle to write on.

Just tried it today on an empty bottle.  Those "industrial" sharpies do work pretty well as long as you let the ink dry a few minutes before handling.  Actually took some effort to wipe it off with my fingers a short time later.  Not ideal, though, as it's hard to see the black ink on a dark brown bottle.  Masking tape does look like the best bet for handwritten labels

I uses small labels and write on them with a sharpie.  Then I tape over that with "removable" scotch tape (making sure the tape overlaps just a bit).  That keeps the marker from rubbing off, and the tape lasts until I wash the bottle, and I need to relabel it then anyway.  Maybe not the best method, but it's cheap and it works for me. I tried the industrual sharpies... didnt stay on well after handling it with juice in the bottle. I even tried one of these... http://www.brother-usa.com/Ptouch/ModelDetail.aspx?ProductID=PT1090 … but in the extra fine variety, and they didnt hold up that great either…

What i have found to truly work the best at this point is this… http://www.brother-usa.com/Ptouch/ModelDetail.aspx?ProductID=PT1090
with the laminated labels. I use the small text, sometimes even two lines. I peel off the TW labels and put the laminated label on and it stays just as well as the TW label. If i only had 2 or 3 flavors that i went back and forth between i would not bother with this, but i have over 20 flavors in my caché, and 10+ mixed up at any given time so having a label that wont go anywhere is important to me.
These even work for the Tanks that I use. i abbreviate the flavor down to 1 or 2 lines 3 characters long and trim it down to its smallest size then stick it onto the flat portion of the whistle tip near the cone/tank joint. they stay on quite well.

In almost three weeks i haven't had one fall off of either a bottle OR a tank yet.

you can even buy colored labels if black on white is not your style.

I picked up this model for 30$ at a local office supply store. I chose this model in particular, despite it being a few $ more, because of the laminated label ability. 30$ is a bit spendy just for a label for my bottles and tanks, but for a good lablel maker its not that bad, especially considering it fits in your hand and is battery powered. it comes with one reel of laminated black on white tape, but does NOT come with the 6 X AAA batteries that is required to operate it.

I have since bought blue glass dropper bottles and use a tiny bit of paper with Sellotape over, but I used to just write on the plastic ones directly with an "indelible" fine marker and Sellotape directly over it.  Both came off when needed.

I see the personal tape embossing gizmos have been updated since I last used one in the 70s (  Roll Eyes ) - but not sure if that tape would actually stick to those vinyl bottles...or whatever they`re made of ?

I use a sharpie on the bottle then a piece of scotch tape of it.  Seems to be working fine for me.  When you are done with that bottle... take the tape off and use a cotton ball with a little iso alcohol and it removes the sharpie easy.

I have to use a lot of different sharpies where I work, including the industrial ones. When I first got my kit I used my metallic silver sharpie to mark a few of my (black) carts to tell them apart. I just went through all my empties and the markings are still on there.
