Mixing guidelines for TW 54mg Platinum Ice e-liquid.
WARNING: Totally Wicked's Platinum Ice 54mg gives you the means to produce your own flavoured juices at home, without compromising on quality or strength - it is not intended for vaping at the full 54mg strength!
Successful mixing at home relies on some understanding of the basic principles.
Firstly, the strength description: “54mg”, indicates a nicotine concentration of 54mg per ml (not per bottle.) This equates to a strength of 5.4% w/v (because there are 1000 mg in 1ml.) It is important to understand this, and that it is the relative proportion of Platinum Ice in your mixed juice, and not the absolute quantity, that will determine the final strength. If you water it down 50:50 with another (nicotine-free) liquid, then the result will contain 27mg/ml, etc., no matter if you are mixing 1 drop of each, or a ml of each, or a litre of each.
Secondly, you should never mix in large batches unless you know for certain that you're going to like the result – it is all too easy to over-dilute your e-liquid if you work on the whole bottleful at once, and ruin it. It is much safer (and cheaper,) to mix up small batches, so if it goes wrong, you can strengthen it with a few more drops of Platinum Ice, or mix it into a more palatable flavoured juice to use it up (if you've really made a mess of the flavour.) You will also be able to try a lot more flavours with a single bottle if you make small batches.
A 5ml plastic dropper bottle is provided for you to use for small batches, and more such sundry items are available on the Totally Wicked website.
Unless you like you flavours and nicotine very strong, you will want to add some inert liquids to dilute your mixtures (these substances are called “diluents”). You may use propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG), alcohol and/or distilled/deionised water, according to preference (though more than a drop or 2 of water is not advised – if the liquid is too runny, there is a greater risk of it leaking into batteries, and it will produce little vapour.) Totally Wicked's Platinum Ice is formulated using propylene glycol, since it has a good safety record and performs well, but you can add some vegetable glycerine if you wish, to thicken the vapour produced, or a few drops of clear alcohol (vodka or similar is ideal,) to add a little more body and throat hit to the flavour.
The following chart shows the approximate final strength you will get by mixing different proportions of Platinum Ice, flavourings and diluent, for a total volume of 30 drops (about 1.5ml)

As a rule of thumb, there are about 20 drops in 1 ml (therefore about 600 drops in a 30ml bottle,) so you can scale up a recipe that you like quite easily - if you wish to make a larger batch, double all the quantities, and you will produce twice as much juice at the same strength.
If you want a whole bottleful of a particular favourite - just substitute ml for drops (using a medicine measure or teaspoon – 5ml per teaspoon.)
If you find the flavour too weak (and they do vary,) substitute extra drops of flavouring for some of the drops of diluent. So long as there are 30 drops in total, and the same number of drops of Platinum Ice, the result will be the desired final strength.
So that's about all you need to know to get started. If you have any questions, or are looking for tasty recipes to try, check out the Totally Wicked forums – they're full of helpful, friendly folk who can help you get the most out of your mixing.
Good luck, and Enjoy!
